Margie Maddux

Margie B. Maddux, 74,  of Poplar Bluff passed awayWednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at her residence.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday October 1, 2010 and funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010  at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, with the Rev. Ithel Kenser and Martin Kenser officiating. Burial will be in the Fairdealing Cemetery.

Mrs. Maddux was born April 3, 1936 at Essex, Mo. to parents E.V. Kenser and Verna “Greer” Kenser.   She has previously lived in the Naylor and Fairdealing areas.  She was a member of  Bible Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, singing gospel music and being a grandmother and her church work.

On Feb. 21, 1967. she married to Mark Maddux in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2004.

Surviving are her four children, Verna Meador, Tery Biship, Regina Gale Hagger, and husband Roger, Randy Bishop and  wife Regina, all of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Helen Holden and husband Jim, Maxine Coleman and husband, Howard, all of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Bill Kenser and wife, Edna, of Poplar Bluff, Ithel Kenser and wife, Shirley and Earl Kenser Jr. and wife, Pat, all of Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E.V. Kenser and Verna “Greer” Kenser; two sisters, Verlin Whiteaker and Verna Edmond; three brothers, Troy Kenser, Loren Kenser and Bud Kenser; and one grandson, Mike Meador.

Norma Barnhart

Norma Lea Ramsey Barnhart went home to Heaven on Saturday 25, 2010 at the age of 84.  Mrs. Barnhart resided in Fairdealing, Mo. for many years and previously lived in Poplar Bluff.  Norma Barnhart ws born March 15, 1926, in St. Louis to Frank and Ella Ramsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Q.A. Barnhart to whom she was married for 47 years; her parents;  her son, Rany Koenig; her stepson, Dan Barnhart; her sisters Alice Bruner, BettyWilloughby and Aileen Warden. 

Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy McCarthy and Elouise King of Poplar Bluff and Mary Elizabeth Walpole of Longview, Texas.  Also surviving are her stepson’s wife, Faye Barnhart; and five step-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barnhart was a Christian and loved teaching the Bible and Bible Phrophecy.  She was a world traveler and her favorite trip was to the Holy Land and she spent many hours showing slides and teaching people about the Bible.  She was a great cook and hostess and always made people feel at home in her kitchen.  She loved turquoise and silver jewelry, anything western, reading and sewing.  She loved her family and wasa treasure to us all. 

Visitation  held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Gardens, Poplar Bluff, with Rod Bruner officiating.

Will Sellers

Will Sellers, 78, of Poplar Bluff and formerly of Ellsinore, went to his Heavenly home Monday, September 27, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center; with his loving wife Carol at his side. Services are pending at this time.

Will Sellers, 78, of Poplar Bluff and formerly of Ellsinore went to his Heavenly home Monday, September 27, 2010 with his loving wife Carol at his side. 

Mr. Sellers was born August 15, 1932 to the late John Sellers and Reppard Caudell in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mr. Sellers was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.  Until his health failed him, he served as Sunday school teacher, cook, and seemed to have his own ‘altar ministry’ praying with many there.

Mr. Sellers retired from his own food service business and then devoted many hours to the United Gospel Rescue Mission, where he impacted many lives. 

Mr.  Sellers enjoyed cooking, leather work and reading.

On December 24, 1981 he married his long time love, Carol Redmond, in Ellsinore, MO  and she survives.

Also surviving are five children:  Karen Sue Sellers Chicago, Illinois; Nathan Willard Sellers Jr. Chicago, Illinois; John Kevin Sellers Chicago, Illinois; Rebecca Lynn Schwuchow Trevor, Wisconsin; and Daniel Albert Sellers Champlin, Minn

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great- grandchild

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM  Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church 1813 Barron Road Poplar Bluff.

Mike Allbritton

Michael “Mike” Alan Allbritton, 49, passed away Sunday September 26, 2010 in Jonesboro, Ark.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Burial will be in the City Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Pastor Paul White to officiate.

Mr. Allbritton was born on January 14, 1961, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  to parents Harold and Ethel Allbritton.  He graduated in 1982 from Poplar Bluff High School.  In July 3, 1982 he married Edie Payne.  He was a member of the Shepards Heart Community Church in Jonesboro, and was a Auto body repairman.  He enjoyed Nascars, Hot rods, and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his parents; Harold and Ethel Allbritton, Poplar Bluff,  one daughter Danielle Allbritton of Jonesboro, Ark.; and the mother of his daughter, Edie Pursifull of Jonesboro.  He is also survived by four sisters; Delories Hill and husband Larry, Poplar Bluff, Linda Hall and husband Gary, Poplar Bluff, Lisa Young and husband Jeff, Valley Park, Mo. ; Debbie Hendrix and husband Kevin, Doniphan; five brothers, Darwin Allbritton, wife Kathy, Jonesboro, Dewayne Allbritton, wife Debbie, Poplar Bluff, Steve Allbritton and wife Karen, Lowndes, Mo., Bill Allbritton , wife Michelle, Jonesboro, John Allbritton, Springfield, Mo .  Many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews survive.

Preceding him in death, one brother Teddy Allbritton.

Mary Ann Cochran

Mary Ann Cochran, 52, of Poplar Bluff passed away, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Cochran was born on October 8, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Bennie R. Moore and Mary Janice “Edwards” Moore.  She lived most of her life in Butler County.  She enjoyed fishing, playing board games and attended the Church of Jesus Christ. 

In 1985 she married Donald Cochran, who survives.  Also surviving are four sisters, Janice L. Moore of Poplar Bluff, Margie Bostic of Dexter, Bernice Pickard and Martha Bean, both of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Bennie R. Moore, Jr. of Zalma; Jackie Wayne Moore of Zalma, and Macklin J. Moore of Poplar Bluff.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Gretta Sue Dodd

Gretta Sue Dodd , 66, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at Oak Meadows in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Visitation will be 12 til 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, followed by a Graveside Service at 1:30 p.m. in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Ms. Dodd was born October 10, 1942 in Poplar Bluff, Mo to parents I.G. Worley and Elizabeth “Ward” Worley, and a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and crochet. 

She is survived by her children Tammy Maloy and husband, Keith of Poplar Bluff; Greg Dodd and wife Christie of Poplar Bluff; and Kim Muse of Potosi, Mo. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Brad Andrews and wife Misty, Ryan Andrews and wife Jenni, Shara Maloy, Jessica Longhibler and husband Jason, Stacy Dodd, Beth Lee, Cameron Muse, and Christian Muse; and 2 great-grandchildren Bryson Longhibler and Maci Andrews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one sister.

James Jones

James Charles Jones, 67,  of Poplar Bluff, passed away Wed. Sept. 15, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Services will be officiated by Rev. Wayne Foust. 

Mr. Jones was born Sept. 7, 1943, at England, Ark. He had lived in Butler County for 41 years and a member and deacon of Clavary General Baptist Church.

He was a carpenter and loved playing his guitar, being with family and church activities.

In 1961, he was married to Dianna B. (Duff) Jones in East St. Louis, Ill.  She survives.

Also surviving are his three children, Jeanny Metzing and husband, Rick of Aledo, Texas, Jimmy Lee Jones and Jule Ann Ray and husband Robert all of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Linda Ross and family, Margaret Simas and family, Virginia Vines and family and Dixie Anderson and family; a brother, Freddie Jones and family; nine grandchildren, Brandi Gonzalez and husband, Jason, Jenifer Jones, Britney Jones, Caleb Jones, Alisha Metzing, Logan Jones, Tyler Ray, Zachary Ray, Lance Michael Jones; and a very special niece, Janie Borgman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Curtis Jones and Beatrice Jones.

John Vineyard

John Vineyard,64 of Poplar Bluff  passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in Poplar Bluff.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Vineyard was born Sept. 17, 1945 at Poplar Bluff.  He formerly lived in Williamsville, Mo. and was a member of the Wayne County Eagles.

He was retired and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are one son, Craig Vineyard of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepson Todd Kelley; and a stepdaughter, Katrina Gaines; two sisters, Virgina Summer of Williamsville and Glenda Kirby of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren, Nathan Vineyard, Christian Vineyard, Joseph Gaines, Natalie Vineyard and Christinia Vineyard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Vineyard and Verna Vineyard.

Bradley Hodge

Bradley Keith Hodge, 16, passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010.  Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 and funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at the Palace of Praise Church, 1400 Herschel Bess Blvd. Poplar Bluff.

Bradley was born June 17, 1994 in Poplar Bluff to parents Michael and Gina Hodge.  He was a Junior at Poplar Bluff High School.  He enjoyed running, reading, camping and loved the military.  He was a member of the Palace of Praise  in  Poplar  Bluff.

Survivors include his parents; brothers Dillon Hodge, Colyn Hodge, Tucker Hodge, Jordan Hodge and one sister Addyson Hodge of the home.

Also surviving are his grandparents Jerry and Nancy Summers, Poplar Bluff, Dale and Rose Hodge, Lowendale, Mo., Ray and Shelia Hobson, Greenwood, Miss. ; great -grandparents, Ogden and Lucille Wheelis of  Poplar Bluff.

The services will be officiated by Pastor Josh Reasons and burial in Memorial Gardens, Poplar Bluff.

A memorial fund is set up at the First Midwest Bank in Poplar Bluff.

Gregg Robbins

Greg Robbins, 53 of Poplar Bluff passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Robbins was born July 21, 1957, at Lilbourn, Mo.  A former resident of Ellsinore, Mo., he worked as a general contractor for home construction.  He enjoyed playing darts, reading and art.

Survivors include his parents, D.W. Dooley of Lilbourn and Mildred Robbins of Ellsinore; two sisters, Barbra Muse of Van Buren, Mo., and Angela Kearbey of Poplar Bluff; and one brother, Rick Dooley of Ellsinore.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
