Velma Ward Shelton

Velma Ward Shelton, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Friday Oct. 29, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will be held Monday Nov. 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. followed bya VFW Ladies Auxillary service at 10:30 prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mrs. Shelton was born June 4, 1932 at Annapolis, Mo.  She was a member of the Highland Drive Chruch of Christ.  She retired as a medical insurance clerk at Kneibert Clinic.  She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. 

On Oct. 4, 1982, she was married to Emil Shelton at Poplar Bluff.  He survives.

Also surviving are three children, Gary and Sandy Ward, Patty and Ronnie Harty and Joy and Ken Hicks, 17 grandchildren, Kelly and Chuck Bazzell, Kathy and Nathan Kirkley, Charlie and Dana Aubuchon, R.W. Harty, Racheal and Larry Clyburn, Jess and Jasmin Ward, Gary Ward II, Billy Waiz, Susan and Steve Gillihan, Shelly and Kyle Bourd, Casey Hicks, Jan and Carla Hicks, Scott Hicks, Ken Shelton, Evetta and ChesterPhillips, Christine Phillips and Scott Phillips; 23 great-Greatchildren Justin Kirkpatrick, Valerie Nomland, Robyn Nomland, Luke Haskanson, B.J. Walz, Tevor Walz, Alyson Clyburn, Nicholas Clyburn, Emaly Clyburn, A.J. Clyburn, Justin OKay, Danielle Aubuchon, Tristan Gillihan, Madelyn Gillihan,Isabella Gillihan, Lauren Bourd, Palyn Bourd, Rossi Hicks, Kember Hicks, Piper Hicks, Justice Hicks, Jersey Hicks, Hannah Huntsman, Emma Phillips; a nephew, John Kelley and a niece, Mary Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Hatridge Kelley and father Amon Kelley.

There will be a VFW Ladies Auxillary service at 10:30 AM Monday before the funeral service at 11:00AM

Warren E. “Sonnie” Griffin

Warren E. “Sonnie” Warren Griffin, 77, Rockford, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Alpine Fireside Health Center.  He was born February 13, 1933 in Palatka, Arkansas, he was the son of Warren and Veda Thompson Griffin. On July 15, 1954 he was married to Neva Black in Palatka, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2004. He is survived by his children, Gary Griffin and wife Dawn, Teresa and husband John Bolen and Patricia Henthorn and husband Dale. Brothers, Terrill Griffin of Naylor, Mo.and Aubrey Griffin. Sisters , Delores DeHollander and Lil Barnes and Fern Teachout Lillian Braschler. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Juanita.

He worked as a foreman in the cotton fields and then went to St.Louis to work for Wagner Electric. A Rockford  resident since 1955. He spent 35 years working at National Lock and retired in 1992 after spending 2 years a  Elco Industries.  A  member of U.A.W. #449. Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Visitation will be Sunday October 31, 2010 from 2-5 p.m.in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Service will be a 11:00 am Tuesday, November 2, 2010 with a short visitation at 10:00 a.m. just before service. Burial will be in the Black Cemetery near Success, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be may to the family.

Charles L. “Chuck” Carter

Charles L. “Chuck” Carter, son of Roy Carter and Lora Mae Mangold Carter, was born may 25, 1949  at Coon Island, Missouri. He departed this life on October 25, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri. He lived 61 years and 5 months.

He is survived by,three brothers, Billy Joe Carter of Naylor, Missouri, Lester Carter of Neelyville, Missouri and Chester carter of Doniphan, Missouri. One foster brother, John Batchelor Of Harviell, Missouri Several Nieces and Nephews and some special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as two sisters, Frances Sally Carter Brooks and Bertha Mae Carter Hawkins, two brothers, Leon Carter and Jesse Lee Carter.He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. he worked as a heating and cooling tech. for Ellison Heating and cooling. Charles was a life long resident of this area. His visitation will be Saturday October 30, 2010 starting at 11:00a.m.until 2:00 p.m. with the  Funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Coon Island Cemetery. Ron Fowler Officiating.

Angela Tinsley

Angela Ellen Tinsley, 49, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.   Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 30, 2010 at the Black River Cemetery Williamsville, Mo.  

Mrs. Tinsley was born December 9, 1960 in Poplar Bluff and was a life time resident of Butler County.  She was of the Catholic Faith. She was high school subsitute teacher.  She enjoyed arts, crafts, computers and teaching.

On June 6, 2007, she married Leonard F. Tinsley in Butler County, he survives.

She is also survived by brothers Glendel Garrett of Poplar Bluff and Gayle E. Garrett of Poplar Bluff.

Mary Jane Bridges

Mary Jane Bridges, 47 of Fairdealing, Missouri, Passed away October 25, 2010 in the Ripley County Memorial Hospital at Doniphan, Missouri. She was born May 21, 1963 in Oesso, Wisconsin. to Charlie Nelson and Ruth Vinyard Nelson. Her visitation will be held after 6:00 p.m. on October 27, 2010 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. Her services will be Thursday morning starting at 10:00 a.m.. Her burial will be in the Baptist Hill Cemetery at Caulfield, Missouri. Rev. Ronnie Payne and Rev. Truman Miller will be officiating the services.

On November 29, 1986 at Bakersfield, Missouri she was married to Russell Bridges. He survives.

She is survives by, her children Charissa Bridges of Fairdealing, Missouri, Robert Hardin and wife Jamie of Caulfield, Missouri and Kaleb Bridges of Fairdealing, Missouri. Two Sisters, Fay Potter of Oesso,Wisconsin and Diane Goss. One Brother Daryl Nelson of  Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Two grandchildren, John Briggs and Bodie Quinn.

Mary was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran church of Poplar Bluff. She worked at the Naylor School System as a secretary. She enjoyed Reading, Gardening, enjoyed yard sales craft shows and camping. She also enjoyed watching   her children playing ball.

Carol A. Martin

Carol A. Martin, 68, of Poplar Bluff, passed away October 24, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will begin at noon October 28, 2010 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints  2414 Katy Lane.  Followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. with Bishop Oesterreicher officiating.  Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Carol A. Martin, 68, of Poplar Bluff, passed away October 24, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 9, 1942 in Granite City, IL.  She had lived in Poplar Bluff for 45 years.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and homemaker.  She loved the outdoors, gardening and baking.  On June 24, 1995 she married Keven Martin in Granite City IL and he survives.

Also surviving are her children:  Scott Wilchek of Cibole, TX; Torri Davis of Poplar Bluff; Monty Wilchek of Huntington Beach, CA; and Joey Wilchek of Huntington Beach, CA; two sisters; Joyce Davis and Doris Rose both of Granite City, IL; a brother Dale Durborow of New Douglas, IL; and eleven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild

She was preceaded in death by her parents; William Durborow and Elise Durborow; two sisters Barbara Green and Charolett Curt, a brother David Durborow.

Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2414 Katy Lane.  Followed by funeral at 1PM with Bishop Oesterreicher officiating.  Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Bill F. Stewart

Bill F. Stewart, 73 of Poplar Bluff, passed away Monday October 25,2010 in the Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.  A graveside funeral service with full military rites will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO  at 11a.m. Friday October 29, 2010

Bill F. Stewart, 73, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Monday October 25, 2010 at the Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau.  Mr. Stewart was born July 23, 1937 in Bisbee, Arizona.  He was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ.  He served in the Army and was retired from Phillip Dodge Corporation in Bisbee Arizona. 

On March 29, 1986 he married Betty Craft Stewart in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.  Also surviving are three children:  Bobbie Stewart of Bisbee, AZ; Doris Marie Coleman of Bisbee, AZ; and Lisa McMurtry and husband Mel of Centerville, Maryland. Also surviving are one sister; Dottie Whitman and husband John of Bisbee, AZ and two brothers: Glen Stewart and wife Betty of Festus, MO ; Merle Young and wife Lisa of Independence, MO  Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his father Oliver Stewart and mother Blanche Willi Stewart.  He was also preceded in death by a son; Allen Stewart.

There will be no public visitation.  A graveside funeral will be held Friday October 29, 2010 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO at 11AM with full military rites.

Cordelia Ann Aldridge

Cordelia Ann Aldridge, 56 of Neelyville, Missouri, passed away ,Monday October 25, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Her Visitation will be held in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri Thursday October  28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. the services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. Burial Will be in the Three Springs Cemetery near Hendrickson, Missouri.  Rev Calvin Buhler will be officiating. Cordelia was born June 30, 1953 at St Louis Missouri to Charles Green and Mary Warren Green.

On March 14, 1994 at Doniphan, Missouri, She was married to James Aldridge. He survives.  Also surviving are  4 children, Gary Lee Aldridge and wife Tammy,  Tonya Gunter and husband Chris, James Aldridge, and Tommy Aldridge. three Sisters Rose Maxwell, Nancy Hiles and Billie Clark, four brothers, Charles Green Jr. Wayne Green, Steve Green, and J.D. Green. Grandchildren, Ladina Proctor, Gary Lee neal Jordan Aldridge, Jamie and Justin Aldridge, Anthony Norman and Arizona Morris, Noah Aldridge, Gracie Green, Jaylynn Green, Ty Cagel, Madison Parrish,  and Kyle and Calvin.

She is preceded in death by her parentscharles Green and Mary Warren Green as well as one sone Donnie Aldridge and one sister Sue Rynolds and one brother Donald Green. Cordelia was a member of the Twin oaks Baptist Church.

Peter Joseph Davi

Peter Joseph Davi, 87 , of Poplar Bluff entered into rest on Sunday October 17, 2010 at Westwood Hills Nursing Home.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM- 11:40 AM Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home; 844 Cedar St.  Poplar Bluff.  A mass of christian burial will then follow at noon Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 841 Vine St.  Poplar Bluff.

Peter Joseph Davi, 87, of Poplar Bluff entered into rest Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Westwood Hills Nursing Home.  Mr. Davi was born April 6, 1923 in Pittsburg, California to the late Vincent A. Davi and Rose Marie Corrado. 

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff, the Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 153.  Mr. Davi served in the United States Army and was a retired traveling salesman.

He enjoyed collecting NFL football memorabillia and watching his favorite NFL team, the Sanfrancisco 49ers play football.

He is survived by a daughter, Carla Aldridge and husband Earve of Poplar Bluff.  A son, Dennis Davi and wife Marilyn of California.  A brother, Nino Davi of California and four grandchildren:  Carmen Bernard and husband Brian of Tulsa Oklahoma, Terry Aldridge and wife Lisa of Poplar Bluff, Bruce Davi and wife Randi of Clovis, California; Brian Davi and wife Erika of Clovis, California.  And seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews from San Francisco Bay Area and Oregon.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM -11:40 AM at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.  Poplar Bluff.  Followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 841 Vine St.  Poplar Bluff, with Father David Coon officiating.  Burial will follow at Sacared Heart Catholic Cemetery, with full military honors.

Cecil Reed Hutcherson

Visitation for Cecil R. Hutcherson will be held on October 8, 2010 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel from 12:00 p.m.-2:00p.m. with the funeral services being held at 2:00 p.m. on October 8, 2010. Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery near Neelyville, Missouri.

Cecil Reed Hutcherson, was born August 14, 1922 at Doniphan, Missouri to William Hutcherson and Lillie VanHook Hutcherson. He departed this life on October 5, 2010 at his residence in Neelyville, Missouri. He lived 88 years.  He survived by, Two daughters, Terri Trzecki and husband Alan Of O’Fallon, Missouri and  Sherri Tucker and husband Eugene of St. Charles, Missouri. also surviving are five grandchildren, Ashley Tucker, Joseph Tucker, Tyler Trzecki, Nicholas Trzecki, Samantha Trzecki. He wsa preceded in death by One son, Stephen Reed Hutcherson, 2 sisters, Inez Lazalier, Avis Shchno, 3 brothers, Earl Hutcherson, John W “Dutch” Hutcherson and James “Butch” Hutcherson. as well as his parents.
