Jeffery “Jack” Marcellus Moore

Jeffery “Jack” Marcellus Moore departed this life on  March 28, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 62.  Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m.  Friday, April 1, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Visitation will also be from 12 -1 p.m. Saturday followed by funeral services at 1p.m. at  Mt. Calvary Power House Church, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Burial in City Cemetery, with full millitary rites.  Rev. Johnnie Williams and Bishop Ron Webb officiating.

Born on February 11, 1949 to the late Ezell and the late Evelyn (Glass) Moore in Birdeye, Ark.  After graduating from Poplar Bluff High School in 1967, Jack served in the United States Army for 2 years.  After his Honorable Discharge, Jack worked for Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1995.  While on his retirement Jack enjoyed working at the SEMO Baptist Youth Camp (Share Croppers Camp) as Camp Manager and Wheatly Historical Preservation Center.  Jack’s hobbies included collecting antiques, carpentry, historian and political activist for the Democratic party.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Winston Moore; sisters, Rita Faye Moore, Jeanetta Moore and Beverly Kaye (Moore) Simpson; mother-in-law, Eunice (Griffin) Brewer and brother-in-law, Clemmie Simmons.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Margaret ( Brewer) Moore and children, Sidney Moore and Jeffery Moore III,  of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Adrienne (Mareece) Webb of LaVergne, Tn and Erin (Alhagie) Ceesay of Long Beach, Ms., 10 grandchildren, Jalon Harris, Tiana Harris, Adrian Webb, Darian Webb all of LaVergne, Tn.,  Marissa Webb, Soley Webb, Payton Johnson and Mya Johnson all of Poplar Bluff, and Yahya Cesay of Long Beach, Ms.; siblings, Herman ( Sara) Moore of Dalton, Il, Margaret ( William) Kimball of Chicago, Il, Azell ( Bobbie) Moore of  Bellwood, Il, Odessa Simmons of Shreveport, La. Willie Mae Raney of Fairview Heights,Il, Al Moore of St. Louis, Bradford (Jacqueline) Moore of Kansas City, Mo, Patricia ( William) Diggs of Raytown, Mo., Bernice (Anthony) McPhee of Antioch, Tn, Dennis Moore of San Francisco, Ca and Rebecca ( Gregory) White of Columbia, Mo; Aunt Hazel (Glass) Mills of Poplar Bluff; brother -in-laws Charles ( Shirley) Brewer of Chicago, Il, Fred Brewer of Miami, Fl, Earnest (Anika Fields) Brewer of Tallahassee, Fl and Darren Simpson of Grandview, Mo; sister-in-law Elsie Moore of Los Angeles, Ca; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack never came across a stranger and called many people his friends.  Jacks’ best friends included: Calvin Smith, Ed McKinney, Marion West, Lavell Hinton, Rex Rattler, Ferdie Reed, Clarence Dailey, Paul White, Richard Joachim and Danny Anderson.

Jack was a devoted son, nephew, brother, husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He will truly be missed by everyone he came in contact with.

Jennifer Ward Birchfield

Jennifer Ward Birchfield, 28, of Williamsville, Mo. passed away, Monday, March 28, 2011.  Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at the funeral home.

She was born October 7, 1982 in St. Louis, Mo.  She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her mother Mary Ruessing, her fiance’ Al Gipson, three children, Bethenie Ward-Birchfield, Trinity Ward, and Lacy Gipson; one sister Cally Davis, three brothers Christopher Davis, James Davis, Jason Davis, two grandmothers, Viola Achens and Carolyn Wallace.

Her father, William Ward, preceded her in death.

Shannon M. Badgley

Shannon M. Stovall Badgley, 51, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

The family will have a memorial service on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Holiday Inn banquet room.

She was born April 7, 1959, in Elgin, Ill.  She lived most of her life in Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Southern Baptist faith and a member of the Eagles.

She was employed in restaurant management.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandson.

In 1986, she married Ralph Dale Badgley in Poplar Bluff.  He survives.  Also surviving are three children, Jason Aaron Stovall, Alexandrea Athena Stogall Lee and husband, Shawn Allen Lee,  Tara McCluskey, all of Poplar Bluff.; one sister, Melissa Vinson of Poplar Bluff; four brothers, Lexi Stovall and Rick Stovall,  both of Poplar Bluff, Steven Harrison of Alabama and Richard Vinson of Arkansas; one grandchild, Nickolas Kane Lee; one aunt, Joyce McCoy and husband, Gary, of Puxico. 

She was receded in death by her father, Dewayne Stovall and mother Barbra Daugherty Vinson.

Louise Weaver, 63 of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will begin at 6PM Saturday, followed by a memorial service at 7PM in the chapel; 844 Cedar Street Poplar Bluff.  Memorials may be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home PO Box 1409 Poplar Bluff, MO  63902

Mrs Weaver was born February 28, 1948 in Poplar Bluff and lived most of her life in Butler County.  She was of the baptist faith.  She ran Motor Harbor Restaurant for several years.  She enjoyed bingo and loved to cook. 

Surviving are one daughter; Athena Napier of Poplar Bluff; two siters; Barbara Braden of Poplar Bluff and Brenda Harwell of Hunter, MO  three brothers; Gerald Murphy of Mayfield, KY, Bill Dorris and Ernie Dorris both of Poplar Bluff and one grandchild; Scotty Napier. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; Willie Dorris and Nadine Shook Dorris and one sister; Lucille Willcut

Karen Shaw

Karen Elizabeth Shaw of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away at her home, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the age of 65.  A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.,  with Vernon Curry officiating.

She was born June 15, 1945, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Fred and Elsie (Blankenship) Blalock .   She had previously lived in Beebe, Ark., before moving to Poplar Bluff 18 years ago.  She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a homemaker. 

On June 18, 1963, she was united in marrriage  to  Harold “Doc” Shaw.  He survives.  Also surviving are her children,  Tim Shaw and his wife, Mandy, of Campbell and David Shaw of Kabul, Afghanistan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Trudy Lurena Stone

Visitation for Mrs. Stone will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff.  Funeral  will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the church. 

“For several days, the angels stood behind her bed guarding her every breath.”  On March 14, 2011 our beloved wife and mother, Tudy Lurena Stone began to fade.  While at home, surrounded by her family, the angels started hovering over her, lifting her spirit peacefully into the heavenly hands of God.

Mrs. Stone was born January 25, 1938 in Corning, Arkansas.  She was a loving daughter to her mother, Ora Ramsey and her father, Elmer Ramsey who preceded her in death.  On May 29, 1955 she married her soul mate, Clyde Stone of Poplar Bluff, who survives.

Mrs. Stone was a retired teacher from the Poplar Bluff R-I School District.  She touched the lives of countless students throughout the years, with her creative and unique teaching styles.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church  of Poplar Bluff and she loved her church family.  She was an accomplished musician and artist.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. 

Mrs. Stone has three children,  Darrell Stone of Ft. Worth, Tx., Treena Murray and her husband Phil Murray, of Poplar Bluff, and Kimra Beckett and her husband Jim Beckett of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Stone was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Jessica Wilson (Brandon) Crawford of Auxvasse, Mo, Mark ( Sarah) Wilson of Poplar Bluff, Kamille and Jodi Beckett of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Shawn (Bree) Stone of Houston, Tx., Jason (Sara) Stone of St. Charles, Mo., Chad Stone of Indiana, Zach Stone, of Oregon, Travis Stone, Ryan Murray and Nathan Murray of Poplar Bluff.  She has four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Penelope Stone, Kylie Vaughn, and Evan Rhinehart.  Mrs Stone also has a half sister, Catherine Naquin and half brother Skip Ramsey of Texas.

Thomas Breece, 64, of Poplar Bluff went to his Heavenly home Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.  Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at Living Word Baptist Church on Township Line Rd in Poplar Bluff.  Rev. Donnie Emmons will officiate and burial with full military honors will be at Black River Cemetery on JJ Hwy.

Thomas was born June 6, 1946 in La Port, Indiana.  He was a member of the Living Word Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.  He was a carpenter.  He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan, collected Elvis Presley memorabilia and enjoyed going to vintage car shows. 

Thomas is survived by three children; Glenn Thomas Breece and Joanne Lyn Breece Garrett, both of Rockford, IL and Jessica Lauren Breece of Poplar Bluff.  One brother Louis Breece of Datto, Arkansas; three sisters; Veda Elliott of Oxly, Linda Hillis of Williamsville and Sue Jameson of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren; Brittney, Wayne and Devin Garrett and Jaryd Breece. And by Mike Patterson of Doniphan; whom Thomas thought of as a son.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dennis Paul Breece Sr. and Joan Smires Breece; his step mother Hassie Thorkelson, a sister; Sue Leiber and a brother Dennis Breece Jr.

Robert Earl Cox, 56, of Poplar Bluff passed away March 12, 2011 at his residence.  Visitation will begin at 10AM Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.  and funeral services will be at 11AM Tuesday.  Rev. Dallas Merriman will officiate and burial will be in City Cemetery. 

Mr. Cox was born January 17, 1955 in Bernie MO, to the late Willard Wilson Cox and Opal Richards Cox.  He enjoyed fishing and camping.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

On August 31, 1984 he married Janet Merriman in Butler County and she survives.  Also surviving are; a daughter, Jessica Renea Barger of Springfield, MO ; his father-in-law; Jesse Merriman of Poplar Bluff, 5 sisters; Barb White of Bernie; Freda Long of Bernie; Sharon Gremore of Portageville; Alice Wheeler of Wheatland, MO and Mary Taylor of Goreville, IL and 2 brothers; Roger Cox of Dodge City Kansas and Mike Cox of Middlebrook, MO

Argusta (Mack) Moss

Argusta (Mack) Moss, 89, of Poplar Bluff went to her heavenly home March 10, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will be at noon Monday, March 14, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.  Poplar Bluff and the funeral service will follow at 1p.m., with Dr. Ron Webb officiating. Burial in Bacon Pasture Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She was born May 5, 1921, in Arkansas and lived most of her life in Butler County.  She was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, and received Christ at an early age.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. 

On June 3, 1948, she was married to O.T. Moss Sr. He preceded her in death on Feb, 23, 2001. 

Surviving are two sons, Willie Moss and O.T. Moss Jr. and wife, Margaret, all of Poplar Bluff; one stepdaughter, Gean Wise of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Spencer McReynolds of Oakland, Ca.; five grandchildren, Montez Moss and Brandon Moss, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo.,  April Kilgore and husband, Michael of Poplar Bluff, Maurice Moss of Portland, Ore.; three step-grandchildren, Les Wise Jr., Angie Rhone and husband, Eric, of St. Louis and Chris Wise of California; eight great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Samuel Russell, 22 passed away March 6, 2011 in Oklahoma.  Visitation will begin at 10:30AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Bay Springs Missionary Baptist Church (off M Hwy) and funeral services will begin at 11AM Saturday with Elder Cletus Powell officiating.  Burial will be in Bay Springs Cemetery. 

Samuel was born Oct. 17, 1988 in Monroe North Carolina and had formerly lived in Arizona.  He had planned on attending college this fall.  He loved playing music, writing and was a very good artist. 

He is survived by his father; Don Russell and Mother Leslie Whalen Russell both of Roff Oklahoma.  His grandparents; Charles and Shirley Whalen of Poplar Bluff; uncles; Martin Whalen of Edwards California, Edward Russell of Poplar Bluff, and John Russell of Poplar Bluff.  Aunts; Shirley Russell of Poplar Bluff, Peggy Daughhetee of Poplar Bluff, Phylllis Ford of Poplar Bluff, and Judy Smith of Poplar Bluff.  A brother; James Russell of Roff Oklahoma also survives; and six cousins.

Samuel was preceded in death by his grandmother Julie Russell; grandfather; James M. Russell and a cousin Megan Daughhetee
