ZELLA SCOTT

Zella Scott ,81 of Poplar Bluff,  passed away May 31, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be 6-8PM Thurs June 2, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.  Poplar Bluff.  Funeral will be at 2PM Friday June 3 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brian Sharp officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Scott was born Jan. 16, 1930 to the late Dewey Schaefer and Bertha Carnahan Schaefer, in Ellsinore, MO  She was of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed sewing.  Mrs. Scott worked for over 16 years for the foster grandparent program.  On July 26, 1951 she married Roy Sherman Scott who has preceaded her in death. 

She is survived by two daughters;  Karen Scott-Lemmons of Dudley and Lora Gladden of Poplar Bluff; three sisters; Elode Morris and Leroy of Poplar Bluff; Anna Manns (Virgil) of Poplar Bluff, and Rosena (Sis) Eudaley (Leon) of Ellsinore.  Three grandchildren; Andrea Midkiff (Kelby), Dustin Gladden (Misty) and Sierra Cannady (Daniel); and nine great-grandchildren; Jack and Ben Midkiff; Andy and Amber Miles; Alex and Emma Ervin; Dylan Gladden; Bailey and Brooklyn Cannady.

She was preceaded in death by two brothers; Roy Schaefer and James Schaefer and one sister Alma Weatherford (James)

MIKEAL ‘MIKE’ BAKER

Mike Baker, 51, of Poplar Bluff passed away May 31, 2011 at his home.  Mr. Baker was born December 29, 1959, in Poplar Bluff, to the late James Baker and Christina Bridgeman-Baker.  A memorial service will be held 3PM  Saturday June 4, 2011 at the Abundant Life Christian Center at the corner of Dalton and Bradley Street in Poplar Bluff.  Pastor Doug Bruce officiating.

Mike was a carpet layer, enjoyed fishing, cars and spending time with his family-especially with his grandchildren.  On May 23, 2011 he married Sheila Thompson-Baker, in Poplar Bluff and she survives.  Also surviving are three sons: Mikeal Baker, Adam Baker and Tyler Baker; two brothers; Terry Baker and Ricky Baker and three grandchildren.

Juanita M. Hendrix

Juanita M. Hendrix, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the age of 88.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in the chapel.   Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday at Freedom Church, 527 Henry Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The church will open at 10 a.m. for another viewing before the funeral.  Officiated by Pastor Scott Cheshire  with burial in Memorial Gardens, Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Hendrix was born April 1, 1923, at Bakersfield, California, to parents Archie M. Crawford and Maude McCullay Crawford.  She had formerly lived in Cedar Ridge, Mo., and had lived in Butler County for the past 10 months.

She enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles and work.  She was a member of Freedom Church in Poplar Bluff. 

On April 26, 1941, she was married to Alva L. Hendrix.  He preceded her in death on April 9, 1989.

Surviving are her children, Ronnie Hendrix Sr., of Poplar Bluff, Laura Tieman Kohlhauff of Branson, Mo., Lanny Hendrix of St. Louis, Mo. and Rory Hendrix of House Springs, Mo., two sisters, Judy Holt of Kennett and Sandra Birdsong of Florida; five brothers, Jerry Crawford of Osceola, Ark., Allen M. Crawford, Kenneth Jackie Crawford and Tony Crawford, all of Kennett, Mo., and Lanny Crawford of Springfield, Mo., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a dear mother-in-law and loving aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, LarryMontgomery; one sister, Betsy Crawford;  four brothers, Jim Crawford, Bill Crawford, Gerald Crawford and Ricky Crawford.

Willa Faye Lomax

Willa Faye Lomax, of Sullivan Mo. formerly of Neelyville, Mo. departed this life at her home in Sullivan Mo. May 22, 2011. She was born April 22, 1934 at Neelyville, Missouri to Edwin and Myrtle Knowlton.On April 23, 1955  she was married to Edward Eugene Lomax.

She is survived by; Her husband, Gene, Children, Timothy Lomax, Pamela Hall, Janet Isom and Brother Billy Knowlton and sister Jimmy L. Dunbar. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth “Bud” Knowlton and Junior P. Knowlton and one sister Wilma turner.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday May 26, 2011 at Central Baptist Church in Union, Missouri. Then on May 26 starting at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. there will be a visitation in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri with the funeral 10:00 a.m. May 27, 2011 in Neeylville, Missouri the burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery following services. Rev David Wright will be Officiating.

Ethel Eugenia Skinner

Ethel Eugenia Skinner, daughter of Richard and Lola Ward Brooks was born December 31, 1914 in Charlotte. Arkansas.  She departed this life on May 20, 2011 at the Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, Arkansas.

On March 17, 1935 she was married to Edward Skinner. She is survived by Two Children; Tom Skinner and Anita Carmack. Brothers, Richard Brooks, Charles Brooks and Leo Brooks. Grandchildren; Pam Brown, Jason Skinner and Kristen and Kevin  Skinner.  Funeral for Mrs Skinner  was May 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Corning Arkansas. with burial in the Corning Cemetery.

Estell Lee “Donk” Tinsley

Estell “Donk” Tinsley son of Earl Oscar Tinsley and Ruby Cox Venters was born October 21, 1944 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He departed this life on May 22, 2011 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his Mother as well a Son, Raymond Tinsley and daughter, Connie Crossen. Sister Doris Jean Minton and brother, Harold Tinsley. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Shirley Delane and three brothers, Bob, Jimmy Dale and Tobe Tinsley.

Visitation for Mr Tinsley will start at 11:00 am May 25, 2011 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville. The funeral will be held May 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with the burial in the Cochran  Cemetery following services.

James Byron”Pete” Armstrong

James Byron Armstrong son of James Hobert Armstrong and Thelma Holt Russell was born April 26, 1955 at Newport, Arkansas. He departed this life on May 13, 2011 in the Poplar Bluff  Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He is survived by his Mother as well as Two Sons; James Armstrong III and Patrick Armstrong. one sister; Debra Decker and two Brothers; Johnny Armstrong and Gary Armstrong. He enjoyed working on motor cycles, arrowhead hunting and Indian artifacts and enjoyed painting.

Services for Mr Armstrong will be May 16, 2011 starting at 5:00p.m,. with funeral following at 6:00 p.m. another visitation will be held on Tuesday May 17, at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Hoxie, Arkansas .

Helen Juanita Noel “Nolen”

Helen Juanita Noel, was the daughter of  Travis and Martha “Flowers” Nolen on October 29, 1928 at Portageville, Missouri. She departed this life on May 2, 2011 at the Lutheran Home In Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

On January 15, 1946 at Caruthersville, Missouri she was married to Martin A. Noel. He preceded her in death  August  3, 2002. She is survived by Sons; Harold Noel and Gary Noel and daughter  Leona Ober.  She was  preceded in death by one daughter, Lynne Ann Noel.

Service for Mrs. Noel will be Saturday 7,2011 with visitation starting at 12:;30 p.m. and funeral at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Debbie Nell McConnaughay

Debbie McConnaughay,Daughter of Clyde and Geneva Garner was born October 18, 1953 at Hayti, Missouri. She departed this life on April 16, 2011 at her residence in Naylor, Missouri.

She is survived by; one son Jerry Don Wilder and one daughter Amy Cochran.her parents and sister; Vicki Smith and brothers; Tim Garner, Donnie Garner and Shawn Garner. Services for Debbie will be Tuesday April 19 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville with visitation starting at 11:00 am and funeral at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery following funeral. Donnie Fowler officiating.

Steve Anderson Jr. (McComb)

Steve Anderson Jr. (McComb), son of Steven Anderson Sr. and Betty McFadden McComb, was born September 17, 1953  in Marked Tree, Arkansas. He departed this life on April 5, 2011 in the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar bluff, Missouri.

He is survived by his Mother Betty McComb, Sisters; Catherine Anderson,Nancy Shockley, Emma McComb, Vivian McComb, Dorris McComb and Brenda McComb. Brothers Johnny McComb, Lee McComb, Donald McComb, Eddie McComb and Ronnie McComb as well as Step Brothers, Johnnie B. McComb and Les McComb.

He was preceded in death by his father. He enjoyed  watching sports, coin collecting and Sports card Collecting as well as spending time with family and enjoyed talking to people. He was a member of the Agape House of Worship in Neelyville, and had served in the United States Marine  Corp.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.,m. till service time at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville , Missouri, April 9, 2011, with burial in the Neelyville Cemetery following services.  Rev. Donnell McComb will be officiating.
