Troy Ray Henson Jr.

Troy Ray Henson Jr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday October 17, 2011 at the St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was 64 years of age, born November 29, 1946 at Newport, Arkansas.

He was a former resident of Little Rock, Arkansas and had moved to Butler County 31 years ago.

On March 3, 1980 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri he was married to Mary Frances Lawler. She survives.  He is also survived by One Son, Richard Todd Henson and wife Stephanie (Hayden and Carson), Four Daughters; Sharon Lynn Garner and husband Michael (Natalie and Taylor),  Amy Caprice Duffer and husband Joe (Addison and Chloe), Donna Leann Freeman (Holly) and  Barbie Marie McElrath and husband Jeff (Audrey). He is also survived by his Mother, Mildred Jean Jones Henson as will as two brothers, Charles Henry Henson and wife Pat and Ricky Don Henson and wife  Debbie. Adopted Children; Peggy and Randy Myers, Eric and Amanda Crofford (McKenzie and Cole), Tony and Carlotta Eakins (Ethan and Michaela), and Peggy Henson, Garlands Wife.

He was preceded in death by  One Daughter, Kathy Taylor Ross. He is also survived  grandchildren (Leslie, Tory, and Monica) and one great granddaughter( Kathrine Ross ). He is preceded in death by his father, Troy Ray Henson Sr and one  brother Garland Gene Henson.

He was  project manager for Libla and He was owner of Little Black Enterprises. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and he enjoyed his grandchildren. He graduated with honors from Three Rivers Community college and served in the Vietnam war era in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Fellowship Southern Baptist Church where he served as building and grounds chairman.

Visitation for Mr. Henson will start Thursday October 20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Mo. The funeral will be Friday October 21, 2011 in the Fellowship Southern Baptist Church starting at 10:00 a.m. with the burial in the Lone Hill Cemetery with full military rites. Rev. Bill Garrett will officiate with Rev. Tim Freeman assisting.

Guila Maurine Hover

Guila Maurine Hover, 90 , of South Lyon, Michigan, passed away Friday October 14, 2011 in the South Lyon Senior Care. She was born  April 2, 1921 Butler County, Missouri to the late James Swank  and Beulah  Moorehead  Swank.

On May 13, 1945 at Charleston, Missouri She was married to Clyde Orpus Hover. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2008.

She is survived by, Two Daughters, Martha Imhoff of Maryville, Tennessee and Norma Edwards of Portugal. One Son, James Hover of New Hudson, Michigan.   She was preceded in death by two Daughters, Beverly Bloom and Kathy Bayne. Fifteen grandchildred and sixteen great grandchildren also survive

Mrs. Hover had also lived in Maryville, Tennessee and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Redford, Michigan.

Visitataion for Mrs. Hover will be Thursday October20, 2011 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel  of Neelyville, Mo. starting at 10:00 am with the services following at 12:30 p.m. . burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell. Pastor Rick Bloom will be officiating.

Sarah Norma Hager Sheppard

Sarah Norma Hager Sheppard, 84 formerly of Naylor, Mo, was born February 10, 1933 at Reyno, Arkansas to the late Robert Cleveland Hager and Dorothy Duff Hager.  She departed this life on October 13, 2011 in Desoto, Missouri.

On March 24, 2952 she was married to Vurl “Dick” Sheppard. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2006.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Marlene Coplin and husband Gary of Festus, Mo.. one sister, Louise Dollins and one brother, Robert Hager and wife Patsy of Hazelwood, Mo.  Two grandchildren also survive, Janet Lynn Thomas, and  Michael Wayne Coplin as well as one great grandchild, Christopher Nicholas Koutsios.

Visitation for Mrs Sheppard will be held in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel Saturday October 15, 2011 starting at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M. Sunday October 16, 2011 . Burial will be in the Cochran Cemetery following services. Ron Fowler officiating.

Ola Mae Harris

Ola Mae Harris, 84 of Harviell, Missouri, passed away October 11, 2011 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born January 6, 1927 to the late Oscar William Wells and Lydia Etta Elta Wells. On May 23, 1953 at Pocahontas, Arkansas she was married to Ellsworth Ervin Harris. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1995.

She is survived by Two Sons, Joseph Harris of St.Francis, Missouri and Robert Harris of Harviell, Missouri. Two Daughters, Lydia Barber and Patricia Eastin both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Fifteen Grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Harris enjoyed collecting dolls, artist painting and reading mystery books. she was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church near Harviell and the TOPS Clubb #734 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was a home maker and had lived in this area since 1971.

Visitation for Mrs. Harris will be Saturday October 15, 2011 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri, starting at 10:00 a.m. with funeral following at 11:00 a..m.. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Cate officiating.

Barbara Jean White

Barbara Jean White, 60, of  Neelyville MO. died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff  Mo.  She was born April 3, 1951 in Atlanta , Ga. She enjoyed playing bingo and cooking. She had worked at the State Line Restaurant as a waitress.  On Jan. 28, 1966 she was married to Paul William White in East St. Louis. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2007. Her parents, who preceded her in death were Junior Hall and Claudette Hall.  Survivors include Paul White Jr. , Randy Wayne White and wife, Pamela, Tina Marie White and husband Ray and James Gardner all of Neelyville Mo.  three sisters in laws, Patricia Pettit, Trudy Brooks and Loretta Langley, two brothers in law Larry and James White, one aunt, Betty Bulluck: grandchildren Brittany, Randy II, Christopher, Ashley, Tyler ; step-grandchildren Scotty and John; great-grandchildren Emilie, Gregory, Dayton, Hunter, Bradan and Mason.

Visitation will be today at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel starting at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral services following at 2:oo P.M., with burial in the Neelyville Cemetery with Rev. James White officiating.

Modell Braun

Modell Braun, 99, of  Naylor died Sunday October 9, 2011 at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan, Missouri.  She was born September 3, 1912 in Searcy, Arkansas. She married Herald Braun on March 6, 1937 in Reyno, Arkansas. He preceded her in death April 23, 2000. She was of the Baptist faith. Her parents were Thomas Jefferson and Sally Caroline Carter Menser.

Surviving are two daughters Peggy Covington of Azle, Texas, and Phyllis and Robert Tyra of  Naylor, Missouri.  She leaves four grandchildren, Eric and Leslee Covington of Colleyville, Texas, Linda and Bryan Dumesnil of Houston, Texas,   Robert Tyra of Springfield, and Nathan and Jennifer Tyra of  St. Peters. And most special of all to her were her great grandchildren Bryan Jr. and Lauren Dumesnil, and Ethan Tyra.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cecile Menser of Temple Terrace, Florida,  three nieces, Eva and J.R. Brown of Poplar Bluff, Joyce and Joe Whitmer of Yucca Valley, California, and Helen and Fred Harris of Temple Terrance, Florida.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Aubrey Menser, and Ollie Menser, and sisters Clarice Smith and Susie Heath.

Visitation for Mrs Braun will be  Thursday October 13, 2011 starting at 6:00 p.m. with the funeral Friday at 2:00 p.m.  in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be be in the New Hope Cemetery near Doniphan, Missouri following services.  Dr. Michael Phelps will be officiating.

Anna Laura Carpenter

Anna Laura Carpenter of Doniphan, passed away October 8, 2011 at the Mark Twain Caring Center.  She was 85 years,1 month and 21 days. 

Ms. Carpenter was born August 17, 1926 at Jackson, Kentucky.  She had lived in Ripley County for 40 years and had previously lived in Hamibton, Ohio.  She was a faithful wife, mother and missionary with her husband for many years. She loved playing the piano, going to church and singing.  She attended the Revival Time Tabernacle Church, Poplar Bluff. 

On November 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to Rev. W.E. Carpenter in Ohio.  He preceded her in death on September 3, 2001. 

Survivors include her children, Ronda L. Carpenter, Dennis L. Carpenter and Sheila L. Carpenter; two sisters Ollie Mae Dirck and Maude Wilkerson; grandchildren, Debbie and Cornell Berry, Sondra and Yomi Ajasin, Anna Dunning, Thomasina Dunning, William Carpenter, Ashley Carpenter, Debra and Eric Gettings, Aaron Carpenter, Rob Cates, and Tom Cates.  Sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.

She is precded in death by her parents, Sherman Rowland and Lula (Moore) Rowland, her husband, Rev. W.E. Carpenter and five brothers.

Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday October 13, 2011, followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. at the Revival Time Tabernacle Church with Pastor Jerry Summers officiating.  Burial will be in the Belleview Cemetery, Doniphan, Mo.

Sammie Losh

Sammie Mike Losh, Fisk, Mo, passed away October 7, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.  He was 64.

Mr. Losh was born February 6, 1948 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  He was a farmer and  lifetime resident of Butler County.  He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing, and traveling. 

Survivors include a sister, Vina Staford, Velmore, Illinois; two brothers; Benny Losh, Poplar Bluff, and Johnny Losh, Florida.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Thomas Henry Losh and Patsey (Huitt) Losh, sister, Eunice Johnson; brothers, Jessie Losh and Joe Losh.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2011, at the Faith Community Church of Dudley, 10423 North Street, Dudley, Missouri  with Pastor Jerry Martin officiating.

Victoria Mahalia Garman

Victoria Mahalia Garman of Poplar Bluff, passed away October 5, 2011 at the age of 78.

Ms. Garman was born October 16, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Joseph Johnson and Lenora  (Jaco) Johnson and was a lifetime resident of Butler County.  

 On May 24, 1952 she was married to Joseph Edward Garman in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1991.

 She was a Charter Member of the Township Line Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed being with her family.

 Survivors include one son Michael Garman and wife Mary of Poplar Bluff, and a daughter, Deborah Holloway and husband Daniel of Waterford, Michigan; sister, Lura  Montgomery of Poplar Bluff, who raised her upon the death of their parents, Joseph and Lenora Johnson.

 She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christy Hupman and husband John of Clawson, Michigan and Jeffrey Holloway of San Diego, California;great-grandchildren, J.D. and Braeden Hupman of Clawson, Michigan, and sister-in-law Vivian Garman, Poplar Bluff.

 Also preceding her in death four sisters; Myrtle Woods, Lula Burns, Gertrude Wohler, and Evelyn Harris; one brother, Buck Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2011 at 9 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with the Rev. Lloyd Steinshour officiating.  Burial in Montgomery Shepard Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Betsey Sue Marshell

Betsey Sue Marshell passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the age of 60.  She was born January 17, 1951 in Caruthersville, Mo.

Ms. Marshell had lived in Butler County for the past 10 years, but had formerly lived in California.  She was a CNA, a member of the South Side Assembly of God Church and enjoyed fishing.

She is survived by three sisters, Deloris Roach, Mary Olcott, both of Paragould, Ark. and Shelia Hartenstein, Lake of the Ozards, Mo.; three brothers, Jerry Johnson, Caruthersville, Mo., Larry Johnson, Doniphan, Mo. and Phillip Johnson, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.

Preceding her in death are her parents Ira Elvin Johnson in 1977 and Hattie (Peal) Bradshaw in 1999; sister, Vohnell Johnson, Myrna Gage and Linda Byrd; brothers, Herbert Johnson and Charles Johnson.  A daughter, Kimberly Sue Marshell also preceded her in death on July 31, 1994.

Visitation  was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, followed by the funeral service at noon, with Pastor Jerry Lemons and Ron Fowler officiating.  Burial in the Qulin Cemetery.
