Richard Lewin Berry

Richard Lewin Berry, 60, of Neelyville, Missouri, passed away January 5, 2012 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born October 21, 1951  at Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Thomas Basil Berry and Mary Alice Ahrent Berry.

On August 18, 1972 at Dexter, Missouri he was married to Diane Edwards. She survives.

Also surviving; Two Children, April Butler and husband Landon of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Len Berry of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Also one sister Brenda Lou Chapman and husband Ron of Neelyville, Mo., and one brother, Ronnie Berry and wife Gena of Neelyville, Mo.. One grandson Field Butler of Jonesboro, Arkansas. several nieces and nephews also survive.

Richard was a farmer and had served on the Neelyville School Board as president and served on the Rice Council. He was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Corning, Arkansas where he served as Elder many years at the church.

Visitation for Mr. Berry will be Monday January 9, 2012  starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville with the services starting at 10:00a.m. Tuesday morning January 10, 2012. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens at Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Pastor Jon Bischof officiating.

In lieu of flowers Memorial can be made to the St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Corning, Arkansas.

Bob Barriner

Bob Ray Barriner, formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away, January 2, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 71.

Mr. Barriner was born August 6, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late James Riley Barriner and Rose (Jackson) Barriner. 

He had served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and was a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines.  He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. 

On February 23, 2006, he was married to Louise (Brewer) Barriner, at Albertville, Alabama.  She survives. 

Also surviving are  seven children; Margaret Ruston and husband, Rick, Charles Barriner and wife, Suzanne, Diana Beck and husband, Larry, William Gardner, Sabrina Curtis and husband, Mike, Katie Chaffin and husband, Darrel, April Willisson and husband, Norman; sixteen grandchildren; Ricky Ruston and wife, Lauren, Candice Ruston and husband, Brandon, Crystal Beck and husband, Jason, John Beck and wife, Alisha, Kristen Barriner, Jeremy Barriner, Shaylynn Gardner, Patrick Gardner, Andrew Sanford and wife, Jennifer, Brittney Cates, Erika Curtis, Luke Curtis, James Ray, Hollie Chaffin, Dustin Chaffin, and Emma Chaffin; 8 great-grandchildren; Jacob Beck, Destiny Beck, Kylar Panky, Isaiah Panky, Alexis Panky, Davis Ruston, Kristen Rhodes, Ryan Rhodes. One sister, Pat Blount also survive.

Mr. Barriner was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Barriner; a wife, Rebecca Barriner; 2 sisters, Rosie Bullard, Lenore Snyder; 3 brothers, Olen Toombs, Jim Barriner, and Fred Barriner.

Visitation service for Mr. Barriner will begin at 12 p.m. (noon), Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by a graveside service and burial at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, in Butler County, with full military rites.  Rev. Ricky Ruston officiating.  Contibutions should be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, to help with the funeral expenses.

Frank Smody

Frank Smody, 95 of Neelyville, Missouri, left this world  January 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1916 at Hiawatha, Utah to the late, Frank Smody Sr. and Evka Pajnic Smody.

On May 3, 1952 at Harviell, Missouri, He was married to Thelma Jane Chatman. She preceded him in death on January 23, 1999.

He is survived by; Two Sons, Frank Sidney Smody and wife Faye of Neelyville, Missouri and Michael S. Smody and wife Pat of Neelyville, Missouri. One Daughter: Jana Smody Boyd and husband George III of Springfield, Missouri.

Grandchildren: Kari Smody Bradley, Shawn Smody and wife Sonja, Eva Smody Eagan and husband Darian , Frank Skyler Smody and wife Michelle, Jordan Boyd, and George Boyd IV. Two great grandchildren, Shane Smody and Cash Eagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Smody Sr. and Evka Pajnic Smody as well as one grandson Steven Smody II in January 1997, one Sister  Ollie Smody Cornell, one brother Charles Smody.

In 1974 He retired as a machine operator and mechanic from M and A Electric Company. He served in the United States Army Air corp from November 1942 til January 1946. While in the service he completed Aerial Gunnry school in Arizona and completed air craft mechanic school at Fort Sumner, New Mexico. He also earned his AAF Air Crew Member Badge (Wings) Gunner. He was also a B-17 crew chief. In 1951 He completed diesel engine operator and mechanic training.

Mr. Smody enjoyed fishing and playing baseball with all the kids. He was member of the Harviell Baptist Church and was baptized March 27, 1960.

Visitation for Mr. Smody will be Friday January 6, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Neelyville Chapel with the Funeral at 10:30 am January 7, 2012 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Dunning Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Knodell officiating.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dunning Cemetery.

Terry Lee Smith

Terry Lee Smith, 51, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away December 29, 2011 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born June 23, 1960 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Lee Edward Smith and Margie Fox Chatman.

He is survived by three children, Kyle Smith, Tara Smith and Terry Lee Smith Jr all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. His father Lee Edward Smith of Mountain View, Missouri and His mother Margie Fox  Chatman of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. His fiance Leslie Eastwood of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Two sisters, Martha Anderson of Poplar Bluff , Missouri and Nicole Crites of Buffalo, Missouri, and three brothers Dennis Barriner of Dixon, Missouri, Doug Barriner of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Greg Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Terry had worked at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri as a Clerical Administrator. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and served as president of his bowling league at Doniphan and enjoyed cardinal baseball and golfing. He was a member of V.F.W. Post # 6477. Terry had served in the United States Navy where he retired as a Master Chief . He had served in Iran and Iraq.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Monday,  January 2, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m.  in the  Neelyville Chapel with the Services at 10:30 am January 3, 2012 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, with Rev. Chuck Clark officiating.
