Michael Holden

Michael O. Holden, 59, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr. Holden was born June 10, 1952 in Caraway, Ark.. He had worked as a deputy sheriff in Butler County. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include two daughters, Heather Michelle Allen of Waynesville, Mo. and Ashley Marie Hass of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Tina Kearbey of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Nathan R. Holden, Buddy Kearby, and Joey Kearby all of Poplar Bluff and one grandchild.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday May 1, 2012 at the Green Forest Church of Christ in Poplar Bluff.

FAYETTA SUE WATERS

Fayetta Sue Waters, 65, of Poplar Bluff passed away April 25, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  A memorial visitation will be held at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.  Poplar Bluff, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2PM and a memorial service at 3PM  with Ron Fowler officiating. 

Ms. Waters was born Nov. 9, 1946 in Welda , KS to the late John Elroy Lamp and Evelene Lillian (Verble) Lamp.  She had formerly lived in Cape Girardeau, Mo  She was of Jehova Witness faith and a homemaker.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, and being around people. 

 She had been married to Melvin Waters who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by a longtime companion, Everett; daughter, Ponda Wood and husband Les of Piggott, Arkansas; son Tom McKinley and wife Neva of Doniphan, MO; 9 grandchildren, Stacey McKinley, Melissa Wood, Wes Wood, Shane Wood, Josh McKinley, James McKinley, Robin McKinley, Kendra McKinley and Tresca Thomas; 3 great-grandchildren, Aden Wood, Caleb McKinley, and Aaron McKinley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelene Lamp, husband Melvin Waters and daughter Brenda Gossett

Alfonse Webb

Visitation will begin at 11AM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church with the funeral service to begin at 1PM at the church.  Dr. Ron Webb to officiate.  Burial with full military honors will be at City Cemetery.

Alfonse Webb was born January 29, 1929 in Tunica, Mississippi to John Wesley & Mattie Mae Webb.  On June 28th, 1952 he married June Marie Williams, and to this blessed union 11 children were born.  On Saturday, April 21, 2012 he departed his physical body and took on his heavenly garments and entered the bosom of Jesus Christ at the age of 83.

 He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952.  He served 13 months and 1 day in the Korean War.  The Army uses military awards to recognize excellence of military members of the force.  He received the following medals and decorations while being enlisted:  Korean Service Medal/2 Bronze Service Stars (KSMW/2BSS), United Nations Service Medal (UNSM), Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), and the Good Conduct Medal (GCM).  In 1954 he received an honorable discharge, which denotes honest and faithful service according to the standards of conduct, courage, and duty to the country.  In his spare time Alfonse…also known as “Pop Webb”, enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family & friends.  He loved live stock farming and gardening.  He was so proud of his “yearly garden”.  He was also an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching sports, and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo where he confessed Christ and served as a Sr. Deacon. 

 He leaves to cherish his loving memory:  His wife of nearly 60 years, June Marie Williams-Webb, 4 daughters: Carolyn Britton, & Dr. Sandra (Dwayne) Jackson both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Delorris Webb Jefferson of Franklin, N.C., & Venorris (Kenith) Delesline of Ozark, Ar.  4 sons: Pastor Alfonse(Jennifer) Webb of Jefferson City, Mo., David (Michele) Webb, Sr., Dr. Ron (Georgia)Webb & Bruce (Sue) Webb all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  2 sisters: Jewel Ackers of St. Louis, Mo., & Velma (Hank) Sims of Anchorage, Alaska.  3   brothers: C.L. (Lovie Mae) Webb of Memphis, Tn., Elmer Webb of St. Louis, Mo. & Arthur Webb of Charleston, Mo.   He also leaves to a lifetime of cherished memories in the hearts of his loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

 He was preceeded in death by 3 children: Terry Joe Webb, Jeanette Webb-Johnson & a still born baby girl; 2 sisters,  Ressie Kellum & Eunice Webb Mosley; 4 brothers,  Nelson Webb, Wardell Webb, Sr., Benjamin Frank Webb & John Wesley Webb II; and his parents, John Wesley & Mattie Mae Webb.

Alberta Whitehead

Alberta Whitehead, 89, of Neelyville, Missouri passed away at her residence April 14, 2012. She was born April 17, 1922 at Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Fred Anderson and Franky Walker Anderson.

On March 22, 1946 at Corning, Arkansas she was married to James Whitehead. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1962.

She is survived by: Two sons, James Whitehead of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Ken Whitehead of Neelyville, Missouri. Three sisters, Katherine Moffitt and husband Issac of Muskegon, Michigan, Mary Betheal of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Loretta Whitehead of Benton Harbor, Michigan. One brother, William Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri. Sixteen grandchildren, Twenty five great grandchildren and Thirteen Great Great Grandchildren also survive.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents as well as four children Son Robert Whitehead, daughters, Maezener Grandberry, Joyce Ann Whitehead and Roberta Turner.

She was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Neelyville, Missouri. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Alberta has been a resident of the Bulter County since 1939.

Visitation for Mrs. Whitehead will be Friday April 20, 2012 starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. The funeral will start at 12:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Rev William Anderson and Rev. Johnny Williams  officiating. Burial will be in the Neelyville Cemetery following services.

Ruby C Eakins

Ruby C. Eakins, 66 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away April 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born, January 30, 1946 at Neelyville, Missouri,  to the late Carl Roosevelt Dollins and Ava Fay Glasgow Dollins.

On June 22, 1963 at Neelyville, Missouri, she was married to Louis Eakins. She survives.

Also surviving; one daughter, Rosie Counts and husband Justin of Campbell, Missouri and one son Anthony “Tony” Eakins and wife Carlotta of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.Two sisters also survive, Carlena Smith and husband Jim of Neelyville, Missouri and Minnie Smith and Clarence of  Neelyville, Missouri. Four grandchildren; Marcus Martin, Holly Eakins, Ethan Eakins, Michaela Eakins and one great grandchild, Miah Martin all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Mrs. Eakins was preceded in death by her parents as well as two children, Michael Eakins and Anna Marie Eakins. One Brother Richard Dollins

Mrs Eakins had worked as a social worker for Butler and Ripley Counties and was a member of the Fellowship Southern Baptist Church. She had a day care where she enjoyed taking care of foster children, taking pictures and shopping as well as yard sales.

Visitation for Mrs Eakins will be April 16, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel with the funeral April 17, 2012 starting at 2:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery following services  with Pastor Tim Freeman officiating and Pastor Jimmy Gilbert assisting.

Eleanor DeWitt

Eleanor Jane DeWitt of Poplar Bluff, passed away April 14, 2012, at her home.  She was 76.  Mrs. DeWitt was born July 17, 1935 in Alma, Michigan.

 A former resident of Michigan, she had lived in Butler County since 1982.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from  The Cedargate, as a cook.  She loved her family and enjoyed being with them.

She is survived by her six children, John DeWitt of Cheyanne Wells, Colorado, Jason DeWitt and wife, Cindy, of Dexter, Jerry DeWitt and wife, Melissa of Poplar Bluff, Jeff DeWitt and wife, Tami of Poplar Bluff, Jana Langley of Poplar Bluff and Joletta Riddle and husband, Tim of Poplar Bluff;  15 grandchildren, Kyle, Rochelle, Brianna, Katelyn, Kristi, Keagen, Zarek, Amanda, Corey, Jacob, Wayne, Charles, Taeylar, Colten and Elexis and 9 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Rosella Robertson; and one brother, James Cox.

Visitation for Mrs. DeWitt will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.   Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Black Creek Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, with Pastor Gene Riddle officiating.

Bobby Watkins

Bobby Watkins of Oxly, Missouri died April 3, 2012 at Current River Nursing Center.

He was born January 13, 1943 in Dyer County Tennessee to Bill and Emma Watkins, who preceded him in death.

On May 5, 1962 he married Matilda Mannina in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Doniphan in 1968, where they operated a grocery store near the Country Club.

Bobby leaves behind his wife, Matilda and one son Robert and wife, Tammy of Henderson, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren Kyle and Hannah Watkins of Henderson, Tennessee and Ryan Johnson of Fairdealing, Missouri.

Also surviving are  two brothers, Gary Watkins and wife, Peggy of Doniphan, Missouri and Clyde Watkins and wife, Mary of Paris, Tennessee and four sisters, Margie Crawford of Cleveland, Tennessee, Barbara Patterson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Joan Benson and husband Gary, of Rogers, Arkansas and Debbie Sage and husband Bob, of Rogers, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel  at  in Neelyville, Mo. on Friday April 6, 2012 at 10:00 am with funeral starting at 11:00 am  at Neelyville. Internment will be in the Anitoch Cemetery near Oxly, Missouri following services. Donnie  Fowler Officiating.

Elmer Willcut Jr.

Elmer Willcut Jr., 82 , of Aurora, Missouri, passed away April 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born June 21, 1929 at Kennett, Missouri to the late Elmer Willcut Sr. and Myrtle Hucklebee Willcut.

On December 4, 1958, at Kennett, Missouri he was married to Judy Frye. She survives.

Also surviving one son Kenny Willcut and wife, Roberta of Aurora, Missouri, one daughter Lee Ann Clayton and husband, James of Nixa, Missouri. Three brothers Earl Willcut of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gerald Willcut of Brosely, Missouri and Eldon Willcut of  Poplar Bluff , Missouri. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Jimmy Dale Willcut and three sisters, as well as 5 brothers.

He attended Verona Christian Fellowship Church in Vernona, Missouri. He worked for the city of Poplar Bluff  water department, repairing water meters.  He enjoyed sports, basketball, enjoyed chickens and yard work, as well as gardening. He served in the United States Army.

Visitation for Mr. Willcut will begin Friday April 6, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., with the funeral Saturday, starting at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Cochran Cemetery at Harviell following the service.  Donnie Fowler officiating
