Candence “Candy” Rhea Morgeson

Candi Rhea Morgeson, 51, of Harviell, Mo. died January 30, 2013 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was born June 29, 1961 in St.Louis, Missouri to the late Billy Tubb and Martene Carner Tubb.

On April 10, 1987 at Neelyville, Missouri, Candi was married to David Morgeson.  He survives. Also surviving is one daughter Autumn Cheyenne of Harviell, Mo.,  two sisters, Sandy Morrison and husband, Don of Piedmont, Missouri and Kristi Tubb of Poplar Bluff, Missouri as well as several nieces and nephews.

Candi was a member of the West Wood  Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and enjoyed flowers, NASCAR racing, crocheting, fishing and enjoyed her dogs.

Visitation will be Saturday February 2, 2013 starting at 11:00 am with funeral following at 1:00 pm in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery with Brother Tom Graham officiating.

WANDA HILL

Wanda Hill, 82, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Westwood Hills Nursing Home, with her husband, of 64 years and family by her side. 

Mrs. Hill was born Nov. 22, 1930 in Butler County, to the late Claude Marion Harwell and Sophie Swan-Harwell.  She was a homemaker.  She enjoyed sewing, fishing, bingo and traveling.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She was PTA president, involved in cub scouts, worked in Democrat Club, and was Treasurer in the city PTA council. 

She lived 5 years in St. Louis and  most of her life in Poplar Bluff.  May 28, 1949 she married Bobby Joe Hill in Piggot Arkansas, he survives.

She is also survived by her children; Robert Joseph Hill and wife Teresa of Wappapello, Connie Marie Evans and husband Tom of Poplar Bluff, and Bridgett Leigh Ellis and husband Dale of Poplar Bluff; 4 sisters; Irene Mae Eloff, Geraldine Derrington, Linda Arlene Timmerburg, and Claudette Marion Bennick; 17 grandchildren; Casey Schmidt and husband Ray, April Ellis, Alisha Hill, Kevin Hill, John Hill and wife Mara, Zach Hill, Robert Hill and wife, Colleen, Victoria Hill, David Hill, Andrew Hill, James Hill, Jackson Hill, Shonda Hill and husband Josh, Jason Evans and wife Nicole, Sabrina Khoeler and husband Ryan, Holly Foster and Dustin Foster; 17 great-grandchildren; Jade Schmidt, Evelyn Hill, Preston Hill, Tyler Phelps, Grant  Hill, Aubrey Hill, Greyson Evans, Hudson Evans, Kyle Vaughn, Gabrielle Vinson, Cain Holloway, Caleb Holloway,  Caylee Foster, Brandon Cinnamon, Christian Phillips, Victoria Ellis and Chloe Ellis;  one uncle; Dale Swan, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Claude Marion Harwell and Sophie Swan-Harwell, and one sister; Clara Alene Robinson

A memorial visitation will begin 10:30 AM  Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO followed by the memorial service at 11AM Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Arvin  Haynes officiating.

In lieu of flowers make memorials to: American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association

Rev. Wayne O’Dale Brown

Rev. Wayne O’Dale Brown, age 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. 

Rev. Brown was born May 18, 1937 at Rolling Forks, Mississippi.  He had previously lived in North Carolina prior to moving to Poplar Bluff  three years ago. 

He was a ordained minister and served in the United States Air Force.   He was also a commercial truck driver and loved to play dominos and golf and work on his home.  He was a member of the  Palace of Praise Church where he served as an Elder and over the hospital ministry.  His greatest love was teaching, preaching and sharing the word of God. 

 On October 3, 1995 he married Darlene (Birdsong) Brown, at Sevierville, Tn.  She survives of the home.

Other survivers include his three sons, George Brown, Mark Brown and Brian Brown; daughter Christie Snow and husband Bill; three grandchildren, Sam Riggins, Hayleigh Snow and Erica Snow. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and  three brothers.

A graveside service and interment was held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Mo. States Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. with the Rev. Anthony Williams officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday,  February 2, 2013 at the Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff, with Bishop Kent Miller and Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating.

Rue “Coot” Turner

Rue “Coot” Turner, 86 of Neelyville, Mo. died Saturday January 26, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Coot was born January 31, 1926 south of Maynard, Arkansas to Burl and Tula Mae Turner.Rue and Norma West were married October 23, 1944 in MoArk, Arkansas. She survives of the home.

Coot farmed for 50 years and retired from farming in 1985. He was a very devoted Husband, Dad and Grandpa, and was loved by his family and all who knew him. He loved hunting, fishing and especially hunting with his dogs.

Survivors include, One son, Danny Turner and wife Karen of Neelyville,Missouri. One daughter, Judy Timpe and husband Roger of Neelyville, Missouri.four Grandchildren, Kami Wilson and husband Kelly, Valerie Smith and husband Dale , Jason Turner, and Rae Lynn Odom and Husband Tim. Six great-grandchildren, Alex Clark, and wife Bethany, Sierra Ross and husband Eric, Carlee Smith, christian Smith, Bailey Odom, Macey Odom, one great-great-granddaughter, Presley Grace Clark.  Four brothers and four sisters also survive. Howard, Burley, Tom, Drew, Zelphia, Cona, Betty and Mary Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Sunday starting at 6:00p.m. with the funeral Monday January 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo.,. With burial in the Williams Cemetery near Corning, Ark. Rev. Kent Miller officiating with Rev Donnie Fowler assiting.

William Edgar Smith

William Edgar Smith, age 61, of  Williamsville, Mo., passed away January 22, 2013 at his home. 

Mr. Smith was born June 1, 1951 at Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to the late Mark Alva Smith and Doris (Dean) Smith. 

He served in the United States Army and Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On October 11, 2003, he married Maggie (Casteel) Smith.  She survives.

Also surviving include his children, William Heath Smith, Anthony David Smith, Melvin Alonzo Overton Jr., Melissa Jo Overton and Mickey Lee Andrew Overton, 18 grandchildren and  3 sisters, Sharel D. Murphy, Joan D. Taylor and Barbara L. Cary 

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Anthony Smith.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 in the chapel with the Rev. Jason Pruett officiating.  Burial with full Military Honors at the Mo. State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Lloyd Ray Gambling

Lloyd Ray Gambling, 67 of Fairdealing, Mo passed away at his residence January 18, 2013. He was born July 16, 1945 at Alton, Missouri to the Emmett Gambling and Christeen “McCallister” Gambling.

On August 8, 1976 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri He was married to Carolyn Katherine Clifton. She survives. Also surviving are five sons; Casey Gambling of Fairdealing, Mo., Charles Gambling and wife Judy of Doniphan, Mo., Terry Gambling and wife Melissa of Doniphan, Mo.; Thomas Gambling fo Brosley, Mo. and Ricky Gambling of Adain, Ok. Eight brothers, Leroy Gambling, Roy Gambling and Bobby Gambling all of Doniphan, Mo., John Henry Gambling of Collisville, Ok., David Gambling of Chelsea, Ok. Billy Gambling and Larry Gambling both of Foil, Ok. and Raymond Gambling of Tampa, Florida. Four sisters, Jewell Percy of Doniphan, Mo. Agnes Labine of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Shirley Collier of Kennett, Mo., Patricia Gambling of Florida.  Fifteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive.

He is preceded in death by his father, one sister, Gerldene and  one brother Thomas Wayne Gambling and his best friend, Ernie Helsel.

Lloyd was a commercial truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, camping,  the outdoors and workiing in his shop.

Visitation will be Sunday January 20, 2013 starting at 5:00p.m.  in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel  of Neelyville, Mo. With the funeral Monday starting at 2:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the Gambling Cemetery with Donnie Fowler officiating.

Marcia Kay (Hogan)Thompson

Marcia Kay(Hogan)Thompson, age 42, passed away January 17, 2013 at her home. 

She was born February 25, 1970  in Poplar Bluff, Mo. 

Survivors include her children, Christopher Cody Danner, Dennis Jeffrey Danner and Jennifer Nicole Danner, Mary Christine, one brother Billy Gene Hogan Jr.; and one granddaughter, Alexis Mae Danner.

She is preceded in death by her parents Billy Gene Hogan Sr. and Vera Mae (McNew) Hogan.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Gavin Craig Hale

One day old Gavin Craig Hale of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

The infant was born January 14, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis. 

He is survived by his parents, Bradley and Danyelle Hale of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Emma Grace Hale and twin brother, Garrett Alanson Hale . 

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Black Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Paul White officiating.  Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home of Poplar Bluff in charge of arrangements.

Rev. HAROLD LEROY ALLBRITTON

Rev. Harold Leroy Allbritton, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and former resident of Bernie, passed away Wednesday January 16, 2013 at his residence.  Mr. Allbritton was born September 7, 1931 in Bernie, Mo. to the late William Franklin Allbritton and Octa (Clubb) Allbritton. 

Mr. Allbritton was an ordained General Baptist Minister and had pastored many churches in the area.  He was a member of White Hollow General Baptist Church in Clubb, Mo.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

On January 8, 1951 he married Ethel (Henthorn) Allbritton, who survives. 

Other survivors include his children, Darwin Allbritton and wife, Kathy of Jonesboro, Ark., Delores Hill and husband, Larry of Poplar Bluff, Linda Hall and husband, Gary of Poplar Bluff, Dewayne Allbritton and wife, Debbie of Piedmont, Mo., Lisa Young and husband, Jeff of Valley Park, Mo.,Steven Allbritton and wife, Karen of Lowndes, Mo.,William Allbritton and wife, Michelle of Jonesboro, Ark., John Allbritton,of Poplar Bluff, and Debra Hendrix and husband, Kevin of Doniphan; two sisters, Edna Prince and Betty Scott, both of Poplar Bluff; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death are two sons, Teddy Allbritton and Michael Allbritton and one brother, Eugene Allbritton. 

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013,  followed by the funeral services at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. with the Rev. Allen Leutert officiating.  Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

PHYLLIS LAVERN JAMES

Phyllis Lavern James, 49,  of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. 

Ms. James was born June 26, 1963, in Neelyville, Mo.  She  formerly lived in Kansas City, Mo., and was a member of Conley Grove Church. 

She was employed by Genesis Home Care in Poplar Bluff.  She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her companion, Carl James of Neelyville; her parents, Bishop James L. and Georgia Price; her children, Darrell Williams and Darryl Williams, both of Poplar Bluff; her Godson, Tamarcus Williams; two sisters, Angel Bryant and husband, Patrick and Heather Price, both of Poplar Bluff; her brothers, James L. Price Jr. of Columbia, Mo., Ronald Price of South Houston, Tx., Vincent Kincade of  Springfield, Mo, Darryl Price of Belleview, Ill, Anthony Price and wife, Ann, of Poplar Bluff, Alphonso Price and wife, Earnestine, of Poplar Bluff, Glenn Price of Atlanta, Ga., Jeffery Price and wife, Nicole, of Poplar Bluff, and Richard Price of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Jakara and Kobe  Williams.

She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Moses Young and her grandparents, George U. Kincade and Martha Kincade.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 followed by funeral services at noon at the Lively Stone Church, 522 W. Relief Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. with District Elder G. Jeffery Price officiating.   Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff Cemetery.
