RONNIE HARWELL

Ronnie Harwell, 70, of Poplar Bluff,  Mo., passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at  the Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Harwell was born August 16, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo.   He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a self employed backhoe operator and he enjoyed hunting. 

On January 14, 1961, he married Betty (Smith) Harwell, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Tony Harwell and wife, Kim of Poplar Bluff, Connie Harrison and husband, Jim of Lake of the Ozark, Mo., Donna Moore and husband, Gary of Poplar Bluff and Kelley Putman and husband, Jason of Texas; one sister; Judy Cline of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Bill Harwell and wife, Juanita, of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, Shanea, Timra, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Wesley, Madison and Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Riley, Karissa and Zoie

Mr. Harwell was preceded in death by his parents; Lonnie and Lessie Harwell.

Visitation will be from 6-8p.m. Saturday March 2, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, and the funeral service will be 11a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in the chapel, with the Rev. Don Mayo officiating.  Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Charles “Skip” Taylor

Charles Lindell “Skip” Taylor, age 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Taylor was born June 19, 1940, at Poplar Bluff, to the late Otis and Loretta (Roach) Taylor. 

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and Cuban Conflict.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, raising animals, yard sales, and loved his family and being with people.  He was a member of the Fellowship General Baptist Church, which he loved very much.

On January 13, 1990, in Poplar Bluff, he married Zelma Taylor, who survives.

Other survivors include his children, Darren C. Taylor of Elsberry, Mo., Michael D. Taylor and wife, Cindy, of Shawnee, Ks., James Vance Eason and wife, LaDona of Poplar Bluff, and Jeanne Stevenson and husband, Larry of Poplar Bluff; his grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica Taylor, Emily and Abby Taylor, Jonathan, Justin, and Jessica Stevenson, Jordan, Cody and Kaden Eason, and Ashley Duquette; brothers, Bob Carmack and wife, Delphine of Ozark, Mo., Jim Blanchard and wife, Barb of DeFord, Michigan, Robert Blanchard and wife, Ranee of Fenton, Michigan and Larry Blanchard and wife, Dee of Brighton, Michigan; as well as many friends .  

Visitation for Mr. Taylor will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, with Rev. Byron Beck officiating.  Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.

Evelyn Louise Sterling

Evelyn Louise Sterling, 68, of Fairdealing, Mo. passed away February 21, 2013 in Bruce Wisconsin. She was born May 15, 1944 in Topeka, Kansas to the late  Ralph Croy and Sarah Tidwell.

On July 15, 1978 at Wycliff, Ky. she was married to Jerry D. Sterling. He survives.

also surviving, her children; Sheila Tidwell Of poplar bluff, Mo., Steven Savage of Doniphan, Mo. and Jerry Sterling of Bruce, Wisconsin. One sister, Louie Deffandall of Hornersville, Mo. and four brothers; Mike Croy of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Alvie Croy of Oxly, Missouri. Bud Croy of Water Valley, Mississippi and Fred Croy of Coffeyville, Mississippi as well as four grandchildren also survive.

visitation will be thursday February 28, 2013 starting at 11:00 am and the funeral will follow at 1:00 pm in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Mo.. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery. Rev. Arlin West officiating.

Scott Smith

Scott “Moe” Smith, age 36, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Smith was born May 8, 1976, in Poplar Bluff.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

He is survived by two children, Aryanna and Sierra Smith; his father, Richard Smith; his mother, Beverly Conner and husband, Dale;  grandparents, D.L. and Imogene Thomas; one sister, Lyndsey Smith; one brother, Justin Summers; and special friends, Russell Carter and Verna Meador.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Greg Faughn officiating.

Shirley Ann Maberry

Shirley Ann Maberry, 72 of Mountain View, Mo. passed away February 21, 2013 in the Mountain View Healthcare. She was born September 24, 1940 at Ferndale,Michigan to the late Charles Mathew Benton and Florence Tremper Benton.

on July 24, 2001 at West Plains, Mo. she was married to Melvin Leon Maberry. He preceded in death.

She is survived by her children Anita M. (Henke) Germaine and husband David of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Dewitt Chas Henke Jr. of Palm Springs, California,, Sharlene A. Henke of Monette, Missouri and Nelson Eddie Brinkley Jr. of New Mexico. four grandchildren also survive.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Ruth M. Benton Kelly and three brothers, W.M. John Benton, Gerald Charles Benton and Clifford Benton.

Visitation will be Tuesday February 26, 2013 starting at 11:00 am with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo.. Burial will be in the Coon Island Cemetery with Donnie Fowler Officiating.

Rebecca Carol Knee

Rebecca C. Knee, 46 of  Taylor, Michigan, passed away at her residence February 20, 2013. She was born September 25, 1966 in Rockford, Ill. to Robert Wooldridge and Mary E. Page wooldridge

She worked in a beauty shop and enjoyed ceramic, painting, drawing, and hair dressing. she was a member of the Corning Y  Pentecostal Church of God.

Rebecca is survive by her parents, one son, Robert Lee Wooldridge of Taylor, Michigan and one daughter Paige M. Knee of Pocahontas, Arkansas. One sister, Lyn Taylor of Coring, Arkansas.One grandson Tyson Wooldridge of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and two nieces. Amber Taylor of Corning, Ark. and Tasha Taylor of Bono Ark.

Visitation  will be Wednesday February 27, 2013 starting at 12:00 pm with the funeral following at 2:00 pm in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. Interment will be in the Richwoods Cemetery of Corning, Ark.. Pastor Charles Madgett will be officiating.

Donnie Ray Yandell Sr.

Donnie R. Yandell Sr., 62 of Corning, Arkansas passed away February 22, 2013 at his residence. He was born January 30, 1051 in Clay County, Arkansas to the late Leroy and Sarah Qualls Yandell.

On November 7, 1981 at Neelyville, Mo. He was married to Donna Guthery. She survives.

Also surviving,Two sons, Donnie Yandell Jr. and Nathan Yandell both of Corning, Arkansas, three daughters, Jeanette Ann Johnson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Pamela Gilmore of Taft, California and Laura Ann Miller of Texas. One sister, Marlene Knorton of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and one brother Richard Yandell of Corning, Arkansas.fourteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Vada James,  Mary Ray, Pat Fox and Sue Holt, as well as seven brothers, Eunis, Roy Lee, Jeff Franklin, J.W., Dannie and Larry.

Donnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing with and enjoying his grandchildren. hanging around the shop and morning coffee at J.B.s at Neelyville.

Visitation for Donnie will be Sunday February 24, 2013 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville with the funeral Monday February 25, 2013 starting at 1:00 pm. in the chapel. Interment will be in the Hite Cemetery near Biggers, Ark. with Donnie Fowler officiating.

William (Bill) Callow Jr.

William (Bill) Callow Jr., 62 of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at his residence. Bill was born October 11, 1950 at St. Anthony’s hospital in St. Louis, Mo. to William Callow Sr and Naomia Parks Payne.

Bill lived in Hillsboro, Mo., most of his life before moving to POplar Bluff six years ago. He attended Hillsboro schools. He retired from Chrysler Corp. and later from constucion doing drywall.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Naomia and Dean Payne of Poplar  Bluff; two sisters, Pamela and husband Gene Iversom of Cadet, Mo. and Cathy and husband Dickie Holland of Hillsboro, Mo. one brother-in-law, Robert Perkins and one aunt, Norma and husband Gerald Gerboth, as well as many nieces and nephews.,

He was preceded in death by one sister, Caroline Perkins and one nephew, Wesley Holland. as well as his father.

Visitation will be 12:00 -2:00 pm followed by services at 2:30 on Sunday February 24, 2013 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery . with Cindy Blackburn officiating.

Norman L. Dunlap

Norman L. Dunlap, life-time resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away February 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. 

Mr. Dunlap was born November 19, 1937, in Butler County, to  the late Homer and Mary (Deckard) Dunlap.  He was co-owner of Dunlap Implement Massey Ferguson Dealership, in Poplar Bluff, for 48 years with his dad and three brothers.  Norman enjoyed all sports.  At the age of 16 he was the Mid-South Bantamweight Golden Gloves boxing champion.  He enjoyed going to his grandson’s ball games, boxing, tractor pulls, family gatherings, and Elvis Presley music.  He was a member of Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff.

On February 10, 1956, he married Bettie (Batson) Dunlap at Harviell, Mo.  They were married for 57 wonderful years. 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ken and wife, Lynn Dunlap of Memphis, Tn., Michael Dunlap and Jimmy Dunlap; his beloved grandson, Logan Dunlap, all of Poplar Bluff; his sisters, Alta Buffington, Alma Allen and husband, Norman, Carol Bryant and husband, Joe, all of Poplar Bluff; Janice Estel and husband, Dennis of Sedalia, Mo., Doris Weber and husband, Mark of Russellville, Mo.; brothers, Bill Dunlap of Poplar Bluff, Glen Dunlap and wife, Floyce of Fisk, James Dunlap and wife, Lenora of Poplar Bluff and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded him in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Mary Dunlap and one brother-in-law, Vernon Buffington.  

Visitation for Mr. Dunlap will be from 6-8p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the chapel with the Rev. Bud Goins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.

Angela Marie Metz-Brooks, age 34, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away  February 22, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Brooks was born August 1, 1978 in Poplar Bluff.  She had previously lived in California, but had been a resident of Butler County for the past 20 years.

She was a homemaker and loved being a mother and enjoyed the computer and reading.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

On November 22, 2004, she married Charles Dewayne Brooks Jr., who survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Dean and Helen Anderson of California; her children, Josef Colin Bailey and Carley Delaine Brooks;  her siblings, Jonia  and husband, Jason Morgan; Brandon Metz, Zachary Anderson and Daniel and wife, Mindy Anderson, Wenonnah and husband, Mark Goings, Michael and wife, Dana Brooks, Nicole and Sharla Arnold; grandmother, Carlene Gilbert; aunts, Arlene Mills and Carol Wilson; her mother and father-in-law, Donna and Jesse Short all of Poplar Bluff; 14 nieces and nephews and several cousins, as well as  life-long friend, Jessica.  

She is preceded in death by her son, Harley D. Brooks; grandmother, Angie Nichols and father-in-law, Charles D. Brooks Sr.

Visitation for Mrs. Brooks will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, followed by graveside services at 12:30 p.m. in the Ash Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Steven Winberry officiating.
