RONNIE HARWELL

Ronnie Harwell, 70, of Poplar Bluff,  Mo., passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at  the Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Harwell was born August 16, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo.   He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a self employed backhoe operator and he enjoyed hunting. 

On January 14, 1961, he married Betty (Smith) Harwell, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Tony Harwell and wife, Kim of Poplar Bluff, Connie Harrison and husband, Jim of Lake of the Ozark, Mo., Donna Moore and husband, Gary of Poplar Bluff and Kelley Putman and husband, Jason of Texas; one sister; Judy Cline of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Bill Harwell and wife, Juanita, of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, Shanea, Timra, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Wesley, Madison and Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Riley, Karissa and Zoie

Mr. Harwell was preceded in death by his parents; Lonnie and Lessie Harwell.

Visitation will be from 6-8p.m. Saturday March 2, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, and the funeral service will be 11a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in the chapel, with the Rev. Don Mayo officiating.  Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Charles “Skip” Taylor

Charles Lindell “Skip” Taylor, age 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Taylor was born June 19, 1940, at Poplar Bluff, to the late Otis and Loretta (Roach) Taylor. 

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and Cuban Conflict.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, raising animals, yard sales, and loved his family and being with people.  He was a member of the Fellowship General Baptist Church, which he loved very much.

On January 13, 1990, in Poplar Bluff, he married Zelma Taylor, who survives.

Other survivors include his children, Darren C. Taylor of Elsberry, Mo., Michael D. Taylor and wife, Cindy, of Shawnee, Ks., James Vance Eason and wife, LaDona of Poplar Bluff, and Jeanne Stevenson and husband, Larry of Poplar Bluff; his grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica Taylor, Emily and Abby Taylor, Jonathan, Justin, and Jessica Stevenson, Jordan, Cody and Kaden Eason, and Ashley Duquette; brothers, Bob Carmack and wife, Delphine of Ozark, Mo., Jim Blanchard and wife, Barb of DeFord, Michigan, Robert Blanchard and wife, Ranee of Fenton, Michigan and Larry Blanchard and wife, Dee of Brighton, Michigan; as well as many friends .  

Visitation for Mr. Taylor will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, with Rev. Byron Beck officiating.  Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.

Scott Smith

Scott “Moe” Smith, age 36, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Smith was born May 8, 1976, in Poplar Bluff.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

He is survived by two children, Aryanna and Sierra Smith; his father, Richard Smith; his mother, Beverly Conner and husband, Dale;  grandparents, D.L. and Imogene Thomas; one sister, Lyndsey Smith; one brother, Justin Summers; and special friends, Russell Carter and Verna Meador.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Greg Faughn officiating.

Norman L. Dunlap

Norman L. Dunlap, life-time resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away February 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. 

Mr. Dunlap was born November 19, 1937, in Butler County, to  the late Homer and Mary (Deckard) Dunlap.  He was co-owner of Dunlap Implement Massey Ferguson Dealership, in Poplar Bluff, for 48 years with his dad and three brothers.  Norman enjoyed all sports.  At the age of 16 he was the Mid-South Bantamweight Golden Gloves boxing champion.  He enjoyed going to his grandson’s ball games, boxing, tractor pulls, family gatherings, and Elvis Presley music.  He was a member of Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff.

On February 10, 1956, he married Bettie (Batson) Dunlap at Harviell, Mo.  They were married for 57 wonderful years. 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ken and wife, Lynn Dunlap of Memphis, Tn., Michael Dunlap and Jimmy Dunlap; his beloved grandson, Logan Dunlap, all of Poplar Bluff; his sisters, Alta Buffington, Alma Allen and husband, Norman, Carol Bryant and husband, Joe, all of Poplar Bluff; Janice Estel and husband, Dennis of Sedalia, Mo., Doris Weber and husband, Mark of Russellville, Mo.; brothers, Bill Dunlap of Poplar Bluff, Glen Dunlap and wife, Floyce of Fisk, James Dunlap and wife, Lenora of Poplar Bluff and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded him in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Mary Dunlap and one brother-in-law, Vernon Buffington.  

Visitation for Mr. Dunlap will be from 6-8p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the chapel with the Rev. Bud Goins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.

Angela Metz-Brooks

Angela Marie Metz-Brooks, age 34, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away  February 22, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Brooks was born August 1, 1978 in Poplar Bluff.  She had previously lived in California, but had been a resident of Butler County for the past 20 years.

She was a homemaker and loved being a mother and enjoyed the computer and reading.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

On November 22, 2004, she married Charles Dewayne Brooks Jr., who survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Dean and Helen Anderson of California; her children, Josef Colin Bailey and Carley Delaine Brooks;  her siblings, Jonia  and husband, Jason Morgan; Brandon Metz, Zachary Anderson and Daniel and wife, Mindy Anderson, Wenonnah and husband, Mark Goings, Michael and wife, Dana Brooks, Nicole and Sharla Arnold; grandmother, Carlene Gilbert; aunts, Arlene Mills and Carol Wilson; her mother and father-in-law, Donna and Jesse Short all of Poplar Bluff; 14 nieces and nephews and several cousins, as well as  life-long friend, Jessica.  

She is preceded in death by her son, Harley D. Brooks; grandmother, Angie Nichols and father-in-law, Charles D. Brooks Sr.

Visitation for Mrs. Brooks will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, followed by graveside services at 12:30 p.m. in the Ash Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Steven Winberry officiating.

Robert Greer

Robert Francis Greer, age 29, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away February 20, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.   

Mr. Greer was born September 11, 1983 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

He was a fanatic about Cardinal Baseball and loved attending the games.  He also enjoyed wrestling, hunting and fishing, and  was a mentor for Big Brothers and Sisters. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and was employed by Home Depot in Poplar Bluff, of which he considered his second home. He loved his job as much as he loved the Cardinals.

Survivors include his mother, Thurma (Rippee) Griffith Mills; his sisters, Fanci Griffith, Laura Greer, Teresa Greer, Jenifer, Susan and Jessica; brother, Charles Greer; five nieces, Aschah and Sarah Smith, Chelsea, Rayne and Hailie; his uncles J.R. Rippee, Bobby Rippee, Charlie Rippee, Billy Rippee, and Steve Jonesy Green; aunts, Cathy Green and Sharron Rippee; great-aunt, Zella M. Cox; great-uncles, Jamie Anderson,Thomas Anderson and Walter Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Greer; grandparents, Roy and Bessie Rippee and Charles and Viola Greer. 

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Chuck Clark officiating.  Burial in the Kinsey Cemetery.

Wayne L. Woods

Wayne L. Woods, age 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away February 19, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  

Mr. Woods was born February 7, 1932, in Greenville, Mo., to the late Curtis R. and Clara (Tackett) Woods.  He was a lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff and retired from Luecke Distributing.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.  He was a member of Midland Church.

On June 18, 1949, he was married to Eva (Duckett) Woods, in Piggott, Arkansas.  She preceded him in death on January 1, 2004.   

Mr. Woods is survived by two sons, Phillip Woods of Poplar Bluff and Rodney Woods of Little Rock, Ar.; one brother, Carl Woods of Wappapello, Mo.; grandchildren, Stacey Ambroselli of Austin, Texas, Justin Woods of Louisville, Ky., Callie Wood and Whitney Allstun of Poplar Bluff; great-grandchildren, Braydn Wood, Mia Osgood, Noah Allstun, and Brody Allstun; and special friend, Bea Christian.

Also preceding him in death, one sister, Hazel McIver and one brother, Willard Woods.   

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral service  will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the chapel with Pastor Paul White officiating.  Burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Bonnie Darlene (Harlan) Hill

Bonnie Darlene (Harlan) Hill, 68, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Wednesday February 13, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. 

Mrs. Hill was born October 15, 1944, in Neelyville, Mo. to James and Elda (Kittredge) Harlan.

On February 5, 1966, she married Eugene B. Hill and was happy to have celebrated 47 wonderful years together.

Bonnie was a wonderful cook and loved feeding her many friends and family.  She enjoyed quilting, canning and always had a huge garden.  She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church.  She had been a member of TOPS 734 for 30 years and was proud to achieve KOPS status.  Bonnie was also a caregiver to so many including her aunt, uncle and mother.  One of her greatest pleasures was being a grandmother and she delighted in caring for her 3 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Harlan, in 1984.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Hill;  her daughter, Darlene Shackleford and son-in-law Kevin Shackleford; three beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Gavin and Andrew Shackleford; her mother, Elda Harlan, all of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Linda French and husband, Harvey of Harviell, one brother, Alan Harlan and wife, Alisia of Doniphan; her mother-in-law, Nora Hill, and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be from 12:30- 2 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Byron Beck officiating.  Burial held in the Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell, Mo.

Dorothy Williams

Dorothy Williams, 81, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday February 5, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Williams was born August 1, 1931, in Hickman, KY.

 She had been a seamstress for many years, as well as many other jobs outside the home over the years.  She enjoyed sewing, canning and gardening. 

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Siebert and wife, Deborah of Glennonville, Mo., David Siebert and wife, Kristy of Fisk, and Jennifer Ward of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Betty Wilkinson, of Spring, TX; 9 grandchildren, Melanie Timbs, Heather Siebert, Roxanne Siebert, Adrian O’Neal, Jeremy Siebert, Dustin Siebert, April Stewart, Matthew Ward and Hallie Ward; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Dotson and Willie Mae Martin-Dotson; two sons, Dennis and Joseph Siebert; and a sister; Margaret Czarnicki.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
