Patty Sue Wilson

Patty Sue Wilson, 60, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away June 27, 2013, at her residence at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born September 10, 1952, in Butler County, Missouri, to the late Jack Morris and Carolyn Daves.

On March 17, 1972, at Harviell, Missouri, she married Ted Wilson. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2001.

She is survived by her children, Keith Wilson and wife, Kim and Mark Wilson and wife Brandi;  grandchildren, Tyler and Landon Wilson and Whitney, Riley and Spencer Wilson; two sisters, Tina Patty and Debbie Pruett.

She enjoyed spending time with family and especially spending time with all five of her grandchildren.  She retired from Smiley Container.

Visitation for Mrs. Wilson will be Sunday June 30, 2013 after 6:00 p.m., at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. The funeral will be  a graveside service Monday July 1, 2013 in Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell, Missouri at 10:00 am.

Carol A. Bryant

Carol A. Bryant, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died peacefully on June 27, 2013, at her home.  

Mrs. Bryant was born March 7, 1944, in Harviell, Mo., to Homer Sylvester and Mary Deliah (Deckard) Dunlap.   She graduated from Naylor High School in 1961 and on February 20, 1965 married Joe Bryant, in Poplar Bluff.  Carol and Joe owned and operated Joe’s Fashion Footwear in Poplar Bluff for more than thirty years.  An active member of the Palace of Praise Church of God, she joyfully served alongside her husband in the greeters/ushers ministry and loved her Sunday School class.  She enjoyed reading, fishing, arts and crafts. 

Survivors include her husband; one son, Todd Bryant and wife, Paula of Jonesboro, Ar., and one daughter, Shannon Bryant Gamble and husband, Dennis, of Republic, Mo.; four sisters, Alta Buffington of Poplar Bluff, Alma Allen and husband, Norman of Poplar Bluff, Janice Estel and husband Dennis of Sedalia, Doris Weber and husband, Mark of Russellville, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Bettie Dunlap of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Bill Dunlap of Poplar Bluff, Glenn Dunlap and wife, Floyce of Broseley, James Dunlap and wife, Lenora of Poplar Bluff, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman Dunlap; sister-in-law, Mary Dunlap and  brother-in-law, Vernon Buffington.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Palace of Praise Church of God, with Bishop Kent Miller and Rev. Randy West officiating.  Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Linda Diane Miller

Linda Diane Miller, age 59, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  flew to Heaven on the wings of Angels Sunday June 23, 2013, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff. 

Mrs. Miller was born July 12, 1953, in Gideon, Mo., to parents Charles and Faye (Hill) Fleener.  She was a cook at Sullivan’s Cafe in Poplar Bluff and enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and preparing big dinners for her family.  She was of the Baptist faith.

On November 21, 1986 she  married  Oval Ray Miller, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2009.

Survivors include her children, Terry Len Boatner, Jerry Alan Rogers, Jess Wayne Powell, Gena Marie Lacey, and Janett Rogers; her mother Faye Boatner; brothers, Jerry Fleener and John T. Fleener; twelve grandchildren and a special nephew, Jerry Lee Fleener. Many Aunts and Uncles also survive.

Mrs. Miller was also preceded in death by her father, Charles Fleener; one brother, Roger Dale “Buddy” Fleener; her grandparents, Dewey and Essie Hill; and sister-in-law, Rhonda Fleener.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, with Pastor Rowdy Boyer officiating.  The family request memorials made to the Danny Bell Cancer Center in Poplar Bluff.

Rosie Marie Cheshire

Rosie Marie Cheshire, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away June 17, 2013 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was in Tennessee to the late Oscar Franklin and Violet O. Bryant Franklin.

Rosie was married to George D. Cheshire , He preceded her in death July 18, 1982.

She is survived by one daughter;April McKenzie of Doniphan, Missouri, Two Sisters, Joyce and Debby, One brother Bobby Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, as well as one sister, Mildred Tunis and one brother, Leon Franklin

Visitation for Rosie will Friday June 21, 2013 starting at 5 pm With the funeral Saturday June 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial Will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery of Naylor, Mo. with Rev Donnie Fowler officiating, assisted by Rev Jeff Fails.

Viola Morris

Viola Elode Morris, age 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.,  passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Morris was born April 21, 1928 in Ellsinore, Mo. to the late Henry D. and Bertha (Lunn) Schaefer.  She retired from Florsheim Shoe.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, canning and family history.  She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

On December 28, 1951 she married Leroy Morris, in Piggott, Ark.  He survives. 

Other survivors include her daughter, Sherry Lampe and husband, Charlie of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Anna Manns of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Aaron Lampe and wife, Ray, Chad Lampe and wife Angela; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Ethan, Caleb and McKenna.

Also preceding her in death siblings, Zella Scott, Rosina “Sis” Eudaley, Alma Weatherford, James Schaefer, and Roy Schaefer and grandchildren, Charissa and Geoffry Lampe.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday June 24, 2013, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Poplar Bluff  with  Rev. Ralph Mayes officiating.  Burial in City Cemetery.

Martin Edward Forsythe

Martin Edward Forsythe, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Forsythe was born May 10, 1938, to the late Curtis and Zelda (Simpson) Forsythe, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Forsythe was a member of the American Legion 630 and a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was an auto body repairman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, crossword puzzles and traveling.

On November 11, 1961 he married Patricia Ann (Burns) Forsythe, in Corning, Ark.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Michael “Mike” Forsythe and wife, Reva Kim, Ed Forsythe and wife, Peggy of Taylorsville, N.C., Bob Forsythe, Kevin Forsythe and wife, Kim and John Forsythe; sisters, Virginia Fowler and Vernon Bess; one brother, Donald Forsythe; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Forsythe was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tamora Forsythe; a sister, Elsie Sparks; and brother, Marvin Forsythe.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, in the chapel with Rev. Danny Collins officiating.  Burial will be in Sparkman Cemetery will full military honors.

Anna Elizabeth Bryant Bediant

Anna Elizabeth Bryant-Bediant, age 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., passed away Saturday June 15, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Bediant was born April 13, 1919 in Clines Island, Mo.  She had lived in Poplar Bluff for nine years.

Mrs.  Bediant was a member of the Greater Vision Worship Center in Puxico, Mo.  She loved God and loved going to church.  Mrs. Bediant was a homemaker and loved to write pen pals, which included over 300.

On March 29, 1980 she married Harvey E. Bediant.  He preceded her in death in 2003.  She was previously married to Basil Bryant who passed away in 1978.  

Also preceding her in death include her parents, Richard Oglesby and Ida May (Lewis) Best; siblings, James Bess, Stella Jones, Fran Harrison and Ellen Rawlins.

She is survived by her children, Emily (Gene) Stanley of Titusville, Fla., Robert ( Ruby) Bryant of Poplar Bluff, Louise ( Melton) Von Rudegisch of Texas, Faye (Jim) Willis of Edgewater, Fla., John ( Melba) Bryant of Dexter, Mo., Ronald (Ada) Bryant of Poplar Bluff, Delbert (Twila) Bryant of Rockford, Ill, and Ben Bediant of Poplar Bluff; sisters, Vivian Urban of Bellville, Ill, and Emily Wooldridge of Sweet Springs, Mo.; one brother, Ben Bess of Oakharbor, Wash.; many grand and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the chapel with Rev. George Needham officiating.  Burial will be in the Elder Cemetery in Campbell, Mo.

Silva Jean Silkwood

Silva Jean Silkwood,68, San Diego, California, passed away in the Sharp Grossmont Hospital June 11, 1013.  She was born February 24, 1945 in Butler County, Missouri to the late Carl and Omah Silkwood.

She is survived by her children,Derek Alan Hacke and wife Kay and Cheryl Barker and husband Gene Barker III. Her Sisters, Bernice Silman, Elda Silkwood, Carolyn Evola, brothers, Clyde Silkwood, Jerry Silkwood, and Charles Ray Silkwood. Her grandchildren surviving are Ethan Barker, Hayden Barker, Kian Reese Barker and Alex Hacke, Kiera Hacke.  Many Nieces,  Nephews and cousins also survive,

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carlene Gowen and one brother, Doyle Silkwood as well as one granddaughter, Brianna Hacke.

Silvia enjoyed spending time with her sisters and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, and listening to music.

Visitation will be June 29, 2013 starting after 6:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial chapel with the funeral on June 30, 2013 starting at 2:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the Coon Island Cemetery.

Ruthie Diane Smith

Ruthie Diane Smith, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Blytheville, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Mark Twain Caring Center. 

Mrs. Smith was born July 11, 1947, in Blytheville, to the late Gifford and Lula (Magill) Sipes. 

She was a member of the Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff and was a homemaker. 

She was married to Jim Smith, who preceded her in death on June 2, 2010.

Also preceding her in death, one step-daughter, Judy Sparks.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Smith, Timmy Emery; step-children, Lee, Danny, Rosemary, Cathy, Dewayne, Mitchell, Mark, and Mike; sisters, Freda Alford and Darlene Watts; one special sister-inlaw, Marvelene Riepe; one special niece, Denise Gehlbach; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-7  p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff.  Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Mole Hill Cemetery, near Broseley, Mo. with Ron Fowler officiating.

Lawanda Waggoner

Lawanda Joyce Waggoner, age 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Waggoner was born June 15, 1935, in Poplar Bluff.  She attended the Lakeland Assembly of God Church.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing music, crafts and playing games with friends and family.

On May 26, 1954, she married Charles Arthur Waggoner in Hernando, Mississippi.  He preceded her in death on April 1, 2013.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Seats; one sister, Carol Welch; one brother, Jesse G. Hicks; two grandchildren, Redeena Clark and Michael York; and five great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Ealie, Zachary, Brittany and Jerry.

She was also preceded in death by on daughter, Lawanda Charlene; her parents, Walter Hicks and Nola Wilson-Hicks; two sisters, Wilma Hedrick and Doris Andrews; and one brother, Don Hicks.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Arvin Haynes officiating.  Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery.
