Wanda Lee Drew

Wanda Lee  Drew, 74 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri,passed away July 29, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1939 at Neelyville, Missouri to the late George Beecher and Opal Cassinger Beecher.

On April 29, 19 82 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri she was married to Wayne Drew. He survives

Also surviving, her children, Gene Beck,of Tennessee, Marvin Beck, Nevada, Las Vegas, Terry Beck  of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Frances Pringle of Corning, Arkansas. Her sisters, Berdie Isaac, Wilma Beecher Yandell, Sharon Beecher Klassen and Laura Mae Beecher Anders all of Corning, Arkansas.  One brother, Bud Beecher of Doniphan, Missouri. Fourteen Granchidren and 16 great grandchildren also survives.

She is preceded in death by one daughter, Vicky Walker, Her parents as well as her grandparents Willie and Nettie Cassinger.

Visitation  for Mrs Drew will be Saturday August 3, 2013 starting at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo.. Burial will be in the Post Oak Cemtery at McDougal, Arkansas with Bud Beecher officiating.

Elizabeth Ann Meadors

Elizabeth Ann Meadors, 48, Of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away July 25, 2013. She was born May 24, 1965 at Hobbs, New Mexico to Bobby Castleman and Diana Woodruff.

On May 25, 1983 at Lovington, New Mexico she was married to Michael Meadors. He survives.

Also surviving, her children, Mindy McElroy and Shawn Meadors as well as her father, Bobby Castleman, two sisters, Christine Brown and Shelly Flores. One Brother Bradley Castleman also survives.  Her grandchildren, Zoey, Isabell, Alexia, Elijah and Baby McElroy.

Visitation for Elizabeth will start at 12:00 p.m. August 1, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri with the service at 2:00 p.m. August 1, 2013 with burial in Amity Cemetery near Doniphan, Missouri. Rev. Bill Meadors officiating.

Lisa Ann Mathis

Lisa Ann Mathis, 41, of Ellsinore, Missouri passed away in Poplar Bluff, Missouri July 29,  2013. She was born Springfield, Illinois, January 9, 1972 to Robert Spangler and Judy Stout Samse.

Lisa is survived by, her children; Smantha Mae Spangler, Trenton C. Spangler and Krista Kay Mathis. Her Mother; Judy Samse and one sister, Deana Myller as well as one nephew, Simeon Ward.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Spangler  her grandparents, Leonard Spangler and Hazel Spangler as well as Francis Stout and Agnes Stout.

She was a cashier at a convience store. Lisa enjoyed Crocheting, computer games and bingo.

Visitation will be at 9:30 am August 1, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. A graveside service will begin at 10:30 am in Cochran Cemetery August 1, 2013 near Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

James E. Dixon

James E. Dixon, 47, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Mark Twain Caring Center.

Mr. Dixon was born May 23, 1966, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.   He was a home construction worker and enjoyed arrow head hunting, fishing and outdoor sports.

On October 24, 2005 he married Kimberly (Barber)  Dixon, at Higbee, Missouri. She survives.

Also surviving is a brother, Donald Dixon.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Elmer Dixon and Paulene (Bandy) Dixon and one sister, Amanda Gail Bandy.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1pm at the Loving Jesus Ministries, 2663 Thomas Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri 63901.

Ben Duncan

Ben Duncan, 77, of Poplar Bluff, MO., passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Duncan was born August 17, 1935, in Knobel, Ark.  He was of the Christian faith.  A cattle rancher, he enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, fishing, being with his family and loved life to the fullest.

On September 3, 1988, he married Trudy Duncan at Corning, Ark.  She survives.

Also surviving are six children, Pam Scott and husband, Devon, Gail Fox-Dohrman and husband, Jim, Carl Troutt and wife, Becky, Mike Troutt and wife, Renee, Brad Troutt and wife, Alisha and Kristen Lacy and husband, Matt; three sisters, Yvonne Dicus, Margie Cox and Hellen Owen; two brothers, WL Duncan and Oneil Duncan; 10 grandchildren, Jerrica and Julia Fox, Hailey, Meagan, Bryant, Brayden and Nicholas Troutt, Bennett, Logan and Cooper Lacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obie Duncan and Stella (Holleman) Duncan and one sister, Beatrice Norwood.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff . A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Daniel Hirtz officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.

Raymond “Leon” Smith

Leon Smith, 59, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri,  passed away July 25, 2013 in Poplar Bluff.  He was born February 24, 1954 at Saint Louis, Missouri to Raymond Smith and Lucille Smith Politte.

On January 20, 2008 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri, He was married to Deborah Foster-Smith. she survives.

Also surviving, daughter, Katrina Smith ManisOf Poplar Bluff, Missouri. His Mother, Lucille Smith Politte of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, His father Raymond Smith and wife Hazel of Poplar bluff, Missouri. One Sister Linda Murray and husband Van of Harviell, Missouri and three Brothers, Robert Smith and wife of Paragould, Arkansas, David Smith of Steelville, Missouri and Wilbert Smith and wife Rita of Naylor, Missouri. He is also survived by His grandchildren, Kaden Skylar Manis and Kailey Renee’ Manis both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Leon was self employed at Smitty’s Heating and Cooling, He was a avid outdoors man, who enjoyed hunting and fishing, Collecting arrowheads, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.  He graduated from Neelyville High School in 1972. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday July 29, 2013 starting at 10:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri. A memorial Service will start at 11:00 am in the chapel with Brother Kurt Milbrandt officiating.

Melvin L. Duhon

Melvin L. Duhon, 69, of Corning, Arkansas, previously of Orange, Texas, passed away at his home July 8, 2013. 

Mr. Duhon was born January 7, 1944 in Texas and lived in Corning, Ar. for the past 5 years. He worked as a mechanic.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing.  

On June 4, 2012 he married Deborah Duhon, in Jasper, Texas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include  three sons, Melvin Duhon Jr. of Orange, Tx., Christopher Hunter and wife, Kelly of Doniphan, Mo., Charles Hunter and wife, Robin of Bidor, Tx.; a daughter, Kim Fairchild and husband, David of Orange, Tx.; sisters, Lucy Dale Sonier, Orange, Tx., Doris Mae Chance, Buna, Tx., Geneva Porter, Cleveland, Tx., Virginia Ruth Arnold, Texas; and many grandchildren.  Special friend, Howard Robinson of Austin, Tx. also survives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Duhon; two sons, Michael Duhon and Beu Duhon; and one sister, Shirley Atkison.

A private graveside service was held July 12, 2013 at the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

Dorothy Wolfe

Dorothy P. Wolfe, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Wolfe was born March 27, 1941, in Charleston, Mo., to the late Joseph D. and Mary E. (Dillie) Passley.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo with her brothers and sisters, and loved her children and grandbabies. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Lester Stewart and David Stewart, both of Lady Lake, Fla. and one daughter, Sheila Winslow of Lakeland, Fla.; 7 siblings; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Mrs. Wolfe is also preceded in death by 6 siblings and one grandchild.  

A private family memorial service will be held a later date with burial in Lady Lake Cemetery, Lady Lake, Florida.

Rosie Buhler

Rosie May Buhler, age 84, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013. 

Mrs. Buhler was born May 18, 1929, in Portageville, Mo. ,to the late William and Ethel (Kirk) Beard.  She worked as a nurses aid and enjoyed taking care of all her kids and grandkids, and singing gospel music on the front porch. 

She was married to Delbert Buhler.  He preceded her in death June 1993.

Survivors include her children William Buhler, Richard Buhler and Brenda Hastings; two sisters, Ruth Francisco and Doris Buhler; one brother, Lloyd Beard; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

 One son, Robert Dale Buhler, also precede her in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday July 19, 2013, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with Rev. Shelvie Stephens officiating.  Burial will be in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Arthur Nelson

Arthur Nelson, age 64, of Harviell, Mo., died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in the John Cochran Veteran Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Nelson was born November 7, 1948, in St. Louis. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart.  He worked as a mechanic and auto parts salesman.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto mechanic, his family and grandkids.  He was of the Pentecostal faith and sometimes attended New Life Tabernacle.

On March 20, 1996 he married Donna (Victery) Nelson, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives of the home.

Also surviving include his children, Arthur F. Nelson II and wife, Joyce, Amy Gordon and husband, Chris, LaTonya Nelson and fiance’, John, Jo Hanna Tarpley and husband, Joshua and David Carter and wife, Brittany; two sisters, Judy Ray and Sharron Chapple; brothers, Joseph Marler, Jimmy Livingston and Johnny Nelson; eleven grandchildren and two additional grandsons, soon to be born; five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his father, Carmon Nelson and mother, Ellen (Berry) Livingston.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff; followed by a graveside service and burial at 12 noon in the Mo. State Veteran Cemetery, in Bloomfield, Mo. with full military honors.  Pastor Larry Sanders and Rev. Jim Hitze will officiate.
