Linda Dare-Howdeshell

Linda K. Dare-Howdeshell, 60, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, December, 29, 2013 at the St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Howdeshell was born February 2, 1953 in Poplar Bluff.  She was a beautician and of the Pentecostal faith. 

In 1980 she married Dennis Howdeshell in Poplar Bluff.  He survives.

She is also survived by her sister, Sue Hendrickson.

Her parents Archie Dare and Dorothy (Ward) Dare preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Jimmie Bruce officiating.  Burial will be in the Black Creek Cemetery.

John Jobin

John Earl Jobin, 82, of Harviell, Mo., passed away December 19, 2013. 

Mr. Jobin was born November 27, 1931 in St. Louis, Mo.  He served in the  United States Air Force during the Korean War and worked as a printer.  He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed working in his garden and flower beds.

He leaves behind two daughters, Kathryn Poole and Patricia Harberd; two grandchildren, Jamie Poole and Matthew Poole as well as three great-grandchildren, Brandy, Mickaela and Angel.   

He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Gannon.

No services are planned at this time.  Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bruce Lynch

Bruce Devon Lynch, 54, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lynch was born September 26, 1959, in Poplar Bluff.  He was a member of the Green Forest Church of Christ and was executive director of Independent Living Center of Southeast Missouri.  He enjoyed reading, music, attending concerts and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games and loved helping people.

On April 26, 2008, he married Vicky Lynch. She survives.

Other survivors include one sister, LuWanna Forister and husband, Charles, and one brother, Gaylon Lynch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lynch and Arushia Lynch.

The family will plan a memorial service at a later date with Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff in charge of arrangements.

Harry Ramsey

Harry Ramsey, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Ramsey was born September 19, 1935, in California, to the late Claude and Tracy Ramsey.

He was retired from RV sales and enjoyed fishing and playing pool.

Also preceding him in death, his wife, Dollie Ramsey and a sister, Cecelia JoAnn Jones.

A niece, Janet Caraker, of Belleville, Ill., survives.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Thelma Hicks

Thelma Mae Hicks, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hicks was born July 25, 1932, in Butler County.  She was a seamstress her entire life.  She was a volunteer at the VA Hospital and loved bowling and sewing. 

On October 11, 1975, she married Ralph Hicks in Poplar Bluff.  He preceded her in death in October 2007.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce Bell and Dennis Bell and a granddaughter, Destiny Bell.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lawerence and Mattie (Thurman) Seesengood and two brothers, Edward and Elmer Seesengood.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff  followed by funeral services at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Ralph Mayes will officiate.  A private burial will be in Bays Spring Cemetery.

Ronnie Herren

Ronnie Lee Herren, 64, of Oska Loosa, IA., died at 10:19 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines IA.

Mr. Herren was born Feb. 3, 1949, in McDougal, Ark. He was a store fixture manufacturer at Darlings in Corning, Ark. He enjoyed Nascar Racing, Cardinal Baseball, and watching Duck Dynasty. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Martin, of Corning, Ark.; two sons, Tracy Herren, of Corning, Ark., and Billy Herren, of Qulin, Mo.; 5 sisters, Dorothy Eberley, of Machesny Park, Ill., Mildred LeConte, of Rockford, Ill., Hellen Gummo, of LeBanon, TN., Dortha Seago, of Rockford, Ill., and Linda Herren, of Beloit, WI.; 4 brothers, Clifford Herren, of Corning, Ark., Jimmy Herren, of Carthridge, Tn., Tom Herren, of Reynolds, Penn., and David Ogden, of Beloit, WI.;5 grandchildren, Stephenie Maulden, and, Melanie Maulden, both of Corning, Ark., and Emily Herren, and Savannah Herren, both of Qulin, Mo.

Preceding him in death are, his parents, Guy Clifford Herren, and Anna Lee Ogden; and one brother, Willard Herren.

Visitation will be open to the family at 5 p.m. Sunday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville with public visitation begining at 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Roscoe Gray officiating. Burial will be at Cantwell Cemetery in Corning, Ark.

Orlena Jones

Orlena Almeta Jones, 77, of Neelyville, Mo., died at 12:12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Neelyville. She was a cook with the Neelyville school system. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, gardening, traveling with her sisters, Dora, Brenda “Box”, Linda and Evelyn. She enjoyed Westerns. Mrs Jones was a faithful member of Naylor Pentecostal Church.

On Oct. 18 1952, she married Harvey “Sonny” Emmons in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2000. She married Jimmy Jones on May 13, 2011, in Corning, Ark. He survives.

Other survivors include one son, Freddy Emmons and wife, Amy, of Neelyville; one daughter, Shelia Merchant and husband, Will, of Neelyville; two stepsons, Jimmy Jones and wife, Tonnie, of Naylor, Mo., and Chris Jones and wife, Carrie, of Neelyville; two stepdaughters, Teresa Hobbs and husband, Randy, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Rhonda Uhl and husband, Danny, of fairdealing, Mo,; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ed St. Cin and Bertha Crow, and two brothers, Charles St. Cin and Louis F. “Johnny” St. Cin.

Visitation will be open to the family at 10 a.m. Friday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville with public visitation beginning at 11 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will be at Coon Island Cemetery.

John William Duff

John William Duff 87, of Gravois Mills Mo.passed away on December 21,2013,  at University Hospital in Columbia Mo.

He was born on June 26,1926 at MoArk Arkansas. He lived most of his life in and around Corning Arkansas. He was a Mason belonging to Lodge 520 in St.Louis Mo. a member of the Church Of Christ in Corning Arkansas. John loved camping,fishing  and boating,being outdoors.

Surviving  is  a son Douglas Duff of St.Louis Mo. and daughters, Debra Langland of South County St.Louis,Cindy Long of GravoisMills Mo. Also  surviving are 9 Grandchildren.

Mr.Duff was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison Duff and Oma Higgins Duff. and one son Billy Duff,  two sisters Juanita Waugh, and Priscilla.

Visitiation will be at 10 AM on Thursday Dec.26, 2013,  at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, services will follow at 11:30 AM in the  Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Internment will follow at the Mo.Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Fred Davis

Kenneth F. “Fred” Davis, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Davis was born August 31, 1934, in Lamar, Ark.  He was of the Baptist faith.

On April 16, 1965, he married Nora Esta (Lade) Davis in Corning, Ark.  She survives.

Other survivors include his four children, Kenneth D. Davis and wife, Pat, Dennis G., Davis, Margaret Tipton and husband, Robert, and Patty Fuller and husband, John; four sister, Joyce Trevillion, Jo Kinsman, Ruth Overton and Eda Dewitt; nine grandchildren, Dawn Wahby, Jason Owens, Rebecca Simpson (Rodney), Jennifer Voss (Steve), Cynthia Davis, Mercedez Ice, Robert Ice III, Addison Fuller, and Kendall Fuller and seven great-grandchildren, Honnah Wahby, Nicholas Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Kaylin Jackson, Dane Voss, Lathan Alcorn and Alexis Alcorn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Davis and Estella Margaret Catt) Davis; a son, Kenneth F. Davis II; and four brothers, James, Karl, Charles and Dean Davis.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Rev. Bill Orr officiating.

Betty Hornbeck

Betty Jane Hornbeck, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, December, 16, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hornbeck was born June 18, 1937 at Williamsville, Mo.  She was a member of Third Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.  She enjoyed gardening and loved bowling.

On December 28, 1956 she married Donnie Ray Hornbeck.  He survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Debbie Trout of Poplar Bluff and one brother, James Hooper of Lemay, Mo.

Preceding her in death include her parents, William and Mary Jane (Hicks) Hooper; two sisters, Gladys Lashley and Lucille Crecelius and three brothers, Marvin Hooper, Charles Hooper and Vernon Hooper.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Mayes and Rev. James Capps officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
