Anthony Garrett-Sparks

Anthony Garrett-Sparks, 23, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, December 16, 2013, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

He was born September 19, 1990 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  He enjoyed video games and cooking. 

He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Margaret Sparks; a sister, Jessica Sparks; three brothers, David Sparks, Johnathan Sparks and William Metzing; and his grandmother, Betty Talley. 

Grandparents, Charles and Elsie Sparks precede him in death. 

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The Rev. Ron Payne will officiate.  Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery.

Sarah Ellen Nimon

Sarah Ellen Nimon, 20, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her home.

She was born December 21, 1992, in Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed listening to Luke Bryan and worked at McDonald’s. 

Survivors include her parents, Terry and Linda (Pierce) Nimon; and one brother, Justin Nimon; her grandmother, Janet Emmons; a special aunt, June Lynch Lane and husband, Allen Lane and a special cousin, Kyle Denney; as well as her Uncle Bryan Pierce and wife, Angela and children, Jackie and Alex Pierce.

She is preceded in death by a grandmother, Mildred Pierce-McCormick; grandfather, Bill Nimon;and a cousin, Brittney Pierce.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roger Mayo officiating.  Burial in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Claude Kearbey

Claude Ernest Kearbey, 92, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at his residence.

Claude was born May 23, 1922, in Fairdealing, Mo. He was a carpenter involved in home construction. He had been a life-long resident of Butler County and enjoyed fishing, woodwork, and deer hunting.

Mr. Kearbey married Darlene Marie Jenkins, she preceded him in death in 1983.

Other survivors include two sons, Bud and Joe Kearbey, both of Poplar Bluff; one stepson, Rick Holden of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Katrina Kearbey of Poplar Bluff; one brother Ray Powell of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned at a later date with Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Lonial Franklin

Lonial Leonard Franklin, 92, of Harviell, Mo., died at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr Franklin was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Earl, Ark. He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed his work on lawn mowers and working in general. He had been a resident of Butler County since 1948 and was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Harviell. He was known and loved by all that knew him.

On June 15, 1940, he married Mildred Alene Loree in Parma, Mo. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Franklin and wife, Mary Jo, of Neelyville and Kenneth Franklin and wife, Brenda, of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Debbie Wells and husband, David; nine grandchildren, Natalie Tate, Jeanene Hover, James Franklin, LaDonna Jo Cambell, Mickey Griffin, Christopher Franklin, Kevin Fanklin, Michael Wells and Brian Wells; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

His mother, Nellie Talley, preceded him in death.

Vistitation for family will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday with open Visitation at 6 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with Elder Terry Sharpe officiating. The double marker burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.

Stephanie Goodrich

Stephanie Michele Goodrich, 41, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, in New Madrid County. 

Ms. Goodrich was born May 15, 1972, in Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Christian faith.  She was a registered nurse at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  She enjoyed her family, cooking, reading and riding horses.   She also loved her dog and music.

Survivors include two sons, Brian and Austin Goodrich; her parents, Mike McLane and Janet Li and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Li; her grandparents, JP and Mary McLane; one brother, Lance Michael McLane and wife, Ashley; two stepbrothers, Jacob and Duke Li; one stepsister, McKenna Li; three nieces, Caitlyn, Jaci and Quincy; and two nephews, Statham and Silas McLane.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will be  held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the funeral home chapel, with Bishop Kent Miller officiating.  Burial will be in City Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Hazelden, P.O. Box 11, Center City, Mn. 55012, a non-profit mental health and alcohol abuse center.

Kelly Strader

Kelly Katheleen Strader, 52, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Ms. Stader was born November 11, 1961 at Piggott, Ark.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, swimmingand loved the outdoors.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

Survivors include one daughter, Leah Marie McCoy, her mother, Marilee (Cowgill) Phillips; two sisters, Denice Beach, Sheryl Ezell; a brother, Gerald Lack; as well as two grandchildren, Shyanne and Brandon McCoy.

Her father J.W. Lack  precedes her in death.

No services are planed.

Jimmy Moore

Jimmy Lee Moore, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to Heaven Monday, December 9, 2013, at his residence. 

 Mr. Moore was born July 27, 1937, in Rector, Arkansas.  He was a member of Oak Grove New Beginning Church. He served in the Marines from 1955-1959 and retired from Crown Cork and Seal Company in St. Louis, Mo.  

Jimmy enjoyed fishing, reading, giving his testimony, going to his church and to Cowboy Church on Tuesdays.   He had also taught Sunday School at Twin Oaks. 

On June 1, 1991 he married Sharon (Albertson) Moore, in Festus, Mo.  She survives. 

Also surviving are his children, Candy Moore, Lea Stivener and husband, Steve, Chris Moore and wife, Karen, and Stacy Moore and friend, Jake; a sister, Sandra Hughes and step-brother, Duane Garrett; 7 grandchildren, Laci Lowery, Drew Lowery, Nicole Moore, Christopher Moore, Bradley Moore, Richard Moore, and Stacy Stivener as well as 7 great-grandchildren; Carter Lowery, Layla Lowery, Christopher Moore, Brock Moore, Ashley Stivener, Ragen Stivener and Morgan Stivener. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Leona (Holifield) Moore and a sister, Brenda Young. 

Jimmy will be greatly missed. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St., Poplar Bluff.  Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Leroy Lundry officiating.  Burial at the Mo. State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. at 3 p.m. with full military honors.

Larry Fuwell

Larry Fuwell, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Fuwell was born January 30, 1949, in Poplar Bluff. On March 11, 1972 he was married to Ruby (Dickson) Fuwell.  She survives.

He is also survived by daughters, Patsy Young and husband, Larry and Lori Lourance and husband, William; as well as one grandchild, Logan Young; two sisters, Genevieve Fuwell and LeVeta McGinley; four step-brothers, Tommy Hardin, Melvin Hardin, Chester Hardin and Kenneth Hardin.

  He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Monroe Fuwell and Ruby Mae (Walls) Hardin; two sisters; 1 step-sister and three brothers.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Patricia Johnson

Patricia Johnson, 53, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 13, 1960 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late George and Marie (Cummins) Dixon

She attended  The Family Worship Center and loved praising the Lord and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Her husband Charles Johnson survives.  Also surviving a daughter, Kimberly Hobbs and son-in-law John Hobbs; grandchildren, Gracie and Emily Hobbs and numerous siblings. 

She is also preceded in death by two siblings. 

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff followed by funeral services at 3 p.m.  The Rev. Bud Goins will officiate.

Loren Leon Murray

Loren Leon Murray 83, of Poplar Bluff,Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at his residence.  

Mr. Murray was born November 8, 1930, at Harviell Mo. to the late Lawrence and Dolores Lois (Randles) Murray.  He joined the Navy in November 1950, and served as a seaman apprentice on USS Robert F-Keller DE-419 until September 1954. He worked at Florsheim Shoe Company for more than 30 years and also worked at Three Rivers College.  He enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting. 

On September 5, 1959, he married Wanda (Vankirk) Murray, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include  two children, James C. Bausworth and wife, Paula, and Karen G. Steele and husband, Freddy; two sisters, Darlene Hastings and June Murray; his grandchildren, Chris Bausworth and wife, Mindy, Eric Bausworth and wife, Michelle, and Cole Steele; great-grandchildren, Emily, Ashley, Abbey, Melanie, and Joshua Bausworth.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7,2013 at 1 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Mr. Murray’s brother- in-law, Rev. Leroy Murray officiating.
