Marie Klien-Burns

Marie Klien-Burns,64, of Naylor, Misssouri passed away at her residence January 29, 2014. She was born March 15, 1949 at Streator, Illinois to the late Ivan (Bud) Bruce and Roma Bruce.

She was married to Roger Klien. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1995 the on September 25, 1999 she was married to Rodger Burns. He survives.

Also surviving are Art and Faith Klien of Magnolia, Illinois and Alen and Michale of Morlen, Illlinois, Rodger Burns of Wenona, Illinois, Brad Burns of Toluca, Illinois, Chad burns and Amy Burns both of Steator, Illinois.  Five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive. Two brothers, Authur and Rosie Bruce of Streator, Illinois and Gary Bruce of Pontiac, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bridgte Klien.

there will be a graveside service for Mrs Klien-Burns on Monday February 3, 2014 at the Camp Cemetery in rural Cornell.

Louis Wayne DeRousse

Louis Wayne DeRousse, 57, Of Naylor, Missouri, passed away January 28, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He was was born September 11, 1956 in Mapaville, Missouri to the late Edward DeRousse and Virginia Shepard.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, walking his dog and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his children Melissa Shepard and husband Tim of Fairdealing, Missouri and David DeRousse of Fairdealing, Missouri. Three sisters, Teresa Tetters and Lisas Swasho both of Circle City. Missouri and Diane Gunter of Fairdealing, Missouri. Two brothers, Michael DeRousse of Missouri and Edward DeRousse Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.  He is also survived by six grandchildren; Chris, Hannah, Grace Cunningham, Kelsey DeRousse, Danielle Shepard and Trevor McCallister.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one son Louis Wayne DeRousse and one grandson, Dalton DeRousse.

Services for Mr DeRousse will be Saturday February 1, 2014 starting at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri with the funeral following at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery at Fairdealing, Missouri with Bro. Randy Miller officiating.

Barbara Lou Shipman

Barbara Lou Shipman, 82, of Fairdealing, Missouri passed away January 28, 2014 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born April 24, 1931 at Idialia, Missouri to the late James Wilson Trotter and Nora Ethel (Tennyson) Trotter.

On November 1, 1931 She was married to Hershel Shipman. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2002.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children; Carl (Marlene) Shipman of Hoopeston, Illinois, Deborah (Gary) Emmons of Fairdealing, Missouri, Bobby (Martha) Shipman of Naylor, Missouri, Ricky (Shawnda) Shipman of Fairdealing, Missouri and Lora (Dennis) Fischer of Billings, Missouri. Daughter-in-law Hazel Shipman of Willowbrook, Illinois. She is also survivied by one sister, Lucille Henson as well as 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several great-great granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one son, James Shipman and one grandson, Jackson Shipman, Three sisters, Eva Wheeler,Delphia Duckworth, and Dorothy Rogers and one brother, Dick Trotter.

Visitation for Barbara will begin at 6 pm Thursday January 30, 2014 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Mo. with the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday January 31, 2014 in Neelyville. burial will be in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Fairdealing, Missouri with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating

Curtis Sumner

Curtis Vinton Sumner, 56, of Paragould, Ar., passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. 

Mr. Sumner was born November 14, 1957 in Granite City,Ill.  He enjoyed singing, preaching, traveling, cooking, and loved animals.  He pastored the Fire House of Praise in Cardwell, Mo. 

In 2001 he married Jan Lee Sumner.  She survives. 

He is also survived by a daughter, Mandy Jo Pyles and son-in-law, Harley, whom he claimed as a son;  his father, William Vinton Sumner and step-mother, Mary Sumner; two half-sisters, Freda Fennel and Deloma Cantaberry; two half-brothers, Otis Edwards and Jimmy Stevens; as well as several nieces and nephews and a large church family that loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Wood Sumner

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the funeral home chapel, with Patsy Weaver and Jerry Summers officiating.  Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Fairdealing, Mo.

Gerald McMonigle

Gerald McMonigle, 54, of Doniphan died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Southeast Health Center, in Doniphan, Mo.

Mr. McMonigle was born Nov. 19, 1959, in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Ray McMonigle and Erma I. Hayes McMonigle. He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, fire arm target practicing, working in scrap medal & salvage.

Survivors include one son Brian McMonigle and one daughter, Natosha McMonigle, both of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Steve McMonigle of Doniphan, Mo.;1 nephew Justin; and 3 nieces, Nicki, Tracy, and Trinity.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony McMonigle.

Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. Tuesday, and funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Logan Creek Cemetery in Doniphan, Mo.

Ada Boyd

Ada Lorene Boyd, 67, of Neelyville died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Boyd was born May 4, 1946, in Coon Island, Mo., to the late John Miller and Lillian Hampton Miller. She was a lifelong resident of Butler County and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed flowers and fishing and loved her children.

On May 11, 1964, she married Leonard Austin Boyd. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2012.

Survivors include four sons, Roger Boyd of Farmington, Mo., John Boyd of Neelyville, Gaylon Boyd (Shelley) of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and James Boyd (Sandy) of Independence, Iowa. One daughter, Lillian Boyd of Neelyville; three sisters, Bonnie Christian of Lake of the Ozarks, and Linda Wrinkles and Sandy Miller, both of Houston, Texas; two brothers, George Miller of Houston and Donald Miller of Neelyville; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Horn, and three brothers, William, Dennis, and Edward Lee Miller.

Willie Symantha McVey

Willie Symantha McVey, 97, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at her home. 

Mrs. McVey was born December 23, 1916, in Galena, Mo., to the late Harvey and Alta Lou Gracey (Mitchell) Messenger.  She had worked as a clerk at the Arkansas Department of Revenue and retired in 1982.  She enjoyed sewing, Arkansas Razorback sports and life.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff. 

On August 30, 1941, she was married to William Arthur McVey at Fayetteville, Ark.  He preceded her in death on February 16, 1998. 

Survivors include two sons, William “Bill” Arthur McVey Jr. and wife, Ann and Gary Neal McVey and wife, Kay; two sisters, Gynith Louise (Messenger) Sossaman and Marjorie Ellen (Messenger) Pettit; her grandchildren and their families, Gary Neal McVey Jr. and wife, Lindsay Renee, Rebecca Ellen McVey, Brian McVey and Stephanie (McVey) Snyder and husband, Neal.

She is also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Edith (Messenger) McDaniel and brother, Kemett Cebert Messenger.

Visitation for Mrs. McVey will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, followed by the funeral service at 6 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo., with the Rev. David Huck officiating.  A graveside service will be held at  2 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Ark. with Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating.

The family ask memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff.

Carolyn Juanita Dicken

Carolyn Juanita Dicken, 69, of Harviell, Mo., died Tuesday Jan. 21, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dicken was born March 10, 1944, in Parma, Mo. She was a homemaker, who loved children, flowers, and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harviell, Mo., where she served as treasurer of W.M.U.

On April 8, 1961, she married Eldon Dicken. He preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Julie Ferguson & husband Bud of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Cynthia “Cindy” Wicks, of Harvielle, Mo.; one sister, June Harralston of Malden, Mo.; two brothers, Joe Page, of Palmetto Florida, Lee Page, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two grandchildren, Brody and Heath Ferguson; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Ally Ferguson.

Besides her husband, preceding her in death are her parents William Burton Page and Junie Marion Stout Page; one son-in-law, David Wicks; one grandson, Nicholas Wicks; 4 sisters, Betty Taylor, Dorothy Halford, Joyce Hampton and Bonnie Walsh; and two brothers, Jerry Page and Jim Page;

Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will be at Dicken Cemetery.

William Marshall Welsh

William Marshall Welsh, 56, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Welsh was born February 25, 1957 in Iron county. He had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Company. He enjoyed working on cars, and studying history. He had attended the Church of Christ on Highland in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Welsh married Helene (Mahamette) Welsh on November 29, 1996 and she survives.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Richard D. Welsh and Hazel (Crain) Welsh.

Memorial Service may be held for Mr. Welsh at a later date. Memorials may be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1409, Poplar Bluff, Missouri 63902.

Mary Catherine Leonard

Mary Catherine Leonard, 89, formley of Naylor, Missouri passed away January 18, 2014 in the Walnut Street Boarding Home at Doniphan, Missouri. She was born Decembe 11, 1924 at Acorn, Missouri to the late Ed Martin and Hattie Crutchfield Martin.

She was a member of the Naylor Church of God and enjoyed fishing, crocheting and crossword puzzles.

On August 19, 1924 at Doniphan, Missouri she was married to Sam H. Leonard. He preceded her in death on february 19, 1985.

She is survived by one daughter Doris Kovach and Mickey of Naylor, Missouri and Samuel Leonard and Diane of Harviell, Missouri. One brother, Elvis Martin of Rolla, Missouri.. She is also survivied by 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3  great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three children, Brenda Holloway, Donna Moore and Jim Leonard, two granchildren, Richard Davis, Ricky Kempen, one sister, Thelma Tabor and two brothers, Delmar and George Martin.

visitation for Mrs Leonard will be Monday January 20, 2014 starting 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. Funeral will be Monday starting at 1:00 pm in Chapel. Burial will be in the Naylor Memoria l Cemetery with Bob Featherston officiating.
