Donald F. McVaugh

Donald F. McVaugh, 59, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.,passed away August 26, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McVaugh was born July 2, 1955 in Louisville, KY to the late Donald Francis McVaugh and Margaret Burress-McVaugh.  He was a construction worker and enjoyed fishing and building different things.

He is survived by his fiancé, Tonya Landers; sons, Greg, Timothy, Christopher and Ryan McVaugh and Eddie Adams; a sister, Suzy, and several grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan McVaugh

Visitation will be 1pm Saturday August 30, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff with funeral to follow at 2pm with Ryan Bissette officiating.    Burial in Black Creek Cemetery.

Denver Joplin

Denver W. Joplin, 74, of Oxly, Mo. passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

Mr. Joplin was born September 14, 1939, in Grandin, Mo., to the late Herbert H. and Margaret Elizabeth (Smith) Joplin.

He was a cattle farmer and enjoyed going to cattle sales, visiting with his “sale buddy’s” and hunting. He loved family gathering for barbeque and loved to work.

On April 13, 1963, he married Glenda Lee (Tettleton) Joplin in Doniphan, Mo. She survives.

He is also survived by his children; daughter, Tammy Sullivan and husband, Steve and two sons, Denver “Wayne” Joplin and wife, Lisa and Garry Joplin; 8 grandchildren, Miranda Sullivan, Melissa (Sullivan) Arrington (Josh), Makayla Sullivan, Josh Joplin (Moriah), Jake Joplin, Brandon Joplin, Nathan Joplin, and Jon Joplin, and just like a son, Willie Stull, as well as one brother, Larry Joplin (Glenda).

He is also preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean Joplin and a sister, Dixie Spencer.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, in the chapel, with Rev. Ted Elledge officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Doniphan, Mo.

Robert Gene Hamilton

Robert Gene Hamilton, 77, of Hillsboro, Mo, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in St Louis, Mo.

Mr. Hamilton was born on July 8, 1937, in St Louis, to the late Harold J. Hamilton Sr. and Elaenor (McKinney) Hamilton.

He was married to Diannia (Sales) Hamilton on September 10, 1982 in Jefferson Co.  She survives.

He was a commercial electrician and enjoyed fishing and growing roses. He was of the Lutheran belief.

Survivors include his children, Shelly Byington, Balinda Jennewein (Carl), and Robert Fowler (Ginger); two sisters, Dorthy Mills and Nancy Olinger; two half- brothers; James McKinney and Oliver McKinney; 9 grandchildren, Abby Byington, Makayla Byington, Ricky Caldwell, Dekota Turner, Carl Jennewein Jr., Andrea Jennewein, Tasha Steffens, Danielle Gassner and Chris Steffens. He was also a great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three sisters, Helen Hawkins, Pat Smith and Hermina Hamilton and two brothers, Harold J. Hamilton and Martin Hamilton.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Rowdy Boyer will officiate.  Burial will be held in Memorial Gardens, Poplar Bluff.

Helen P. Whitt

Helen Pauline Whitt, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Whitt was born February 21, 1928 in Poplar Bluff to Raymond Ray Ward and Julia Mae (Caruthers)Ward.  She was of the  Baptist faith and enjoyed watching television and reading the newspaper.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Garrison and two sons, Larry “Bucky” Whitt and wife, Sandy, and DeWayne Whitt and wife, Karen; two sisters, JoAnn Pashia and Janice Ward-Walls; one brother, Mirl Ward; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as one sister, Joyce Ward-Cole, and three brothers, Charles Ward, Mickey Ward and Gene Ward.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in the chapel, with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Johnny C. Brooks

Johnny C. Brooks, 72, of Naylor, Mo., passed away August 20, 2014 near Corning, Arkansas. He was born March 24, 1942 to the late Jess Otis Brooks and Nellie May Kerr  at Success, Arkansas. He had worked at Blacks Lumber Company in Corning, Arkansas  and enjoyed Science fiction, hunting rocks and riding his bike. He was a member of Myrtle Chapel Church of God.

Johnny is survived by one sister, Helen Rogers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, one half sister, Brenda Shelton of Rector, Arkansas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Also uncle, Fred Kerr and grandmother Hattie Melanna Kerr who raised him from a early age. His twin brother Clifford Brooks as well as a half brother Charles Brooks and one half sister, Linda Fortner.

Visitation will be Saturday August 23, 2014 starting at 2:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Gum Cemetery near Naylor, Missouri.

Michael David Allen

Michael David Allen, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Allen was born March 1, 1950 in Poplar Bluff, to the late Franklin and Margaret Allen.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kay; their children, Michael Allen Jr., Tammy Allen and Tanya Atchinson; one sister, Diane Allen; three brothers, Timothy Allen, Jack Allen and Franklin John D. Allen Sr.; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a special nephew, John John.  He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, with a 11:30 a,m, GRAVESIDE Service at Black River Cemetery on JJ Hwy. near Williamsville.

Carol June stewart

Carol June Stewart, 82, of Naylor, Mo. died Sunday August 17, 2014 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.. She was born May 26, 1932 in Bloomfield, Mo. to the late

Harold and Virgie (Weaver) Cole.

On August 10, 1959, at East St.Louis, Missouri She married James Stewart. He survives.

She enjoyed feeding humming birds and watching game shows. She was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children; Cloyde Phelps of St.Louis, Mo, Ricky Phelps of Doniphan, Mo. , Kenny Stewart of Green Mountian, Colorado, and Donna Duff of Poplar Bluff, Missouri., Two sisters, Dorothy Derr of Malden, Mo. and Patricia Pratt of St.Louis, Mo., two brothers, Marvin Cole of Naylor, Mo. and Terry Joe Richarity of Colorado. four grandchildren, Valerie Paole, Kimberly Phelps, Casey Webbles and Kendall Duff. four great-grandchildren,  Allison, Cody, Caitlyn and Austin. as well as two great great grandchildren, Addison and Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Simon and Mila Weaver and one sister , Linda.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 20, 2014, in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Mo. the funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the Gum Cemetery near Naylor, Mo.

Barbara Weichmann

Barbara Louise Weichmann, 55, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away August 14, 2014, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Barbara was born October 27, 1958, in Coudersport, Pa., to the late Leon Carpenter and Elizabeth (Snyder) Carpenter. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing Bingo. She was friends with the congregation at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her children, Stacy Kemp, Brian Kemp and James Latona; and her grandchildren, Dalton Smith, Laniya Kemp, Jaleya Kemp, Sincere Kemp, Olivia Kemp, Brian Kemp Jr., and Dreylon Kemp.

Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2414 Katy Lane, Poplar Bluff, Missouri followed by funeral services at 12:30p.m.; officiated by Bishop Bledsoe. Burial will be held in the City Cemetery.

Darwin L. “Vern” Davis Sr.

Darwin L. “Vern” Davis, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Westwood Hills Healthcare.  He was born March 7, 1928 in East Carter County to the late Joe Davis and Jewel M. “Joplin” Jolley.

He was a building contractor and also farmed. Mr. Davis  enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and using a computer. He was a member of the Lions Club and attended and supported the New Hope Baptist Church. He was married March 5, 1955 to Doris Ann Kiser in Hernando, Mississippi. She survives.

Also surviving, one son; Dr. Darwin L. Davis Jr. and one daughter Tana Jean (Davis) Bringer both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. His grandchildren,  Darwin L. Davis III, Courtny L. (Davis) Barnett, Peyton Davis, Wesley Bringer, Joseph Bringer, great grandchildren; Paige Davis, Davis Barnett, Reece Barnett, Beau Barnett, Landon Bringer, Bailey Bringer, and a special friend and caregiver, Eva Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents, Spencer A. Joplin and Nellie (Long) Joplin; and one brother Doug Jolley.

Visitation will begin at  10:00 am Saturday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am , August 16, 2014 , Saturday In the Neelyville Chapel. Rev. Kent Wilfong will be officiating assisted by Charles Joe Kiser. Burial will be in the Joplin Cemetery.

Debra Emmons Snider

Debra K. “Emmons” Snider, 57, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away at her residence August 7, 2014. She was born July 1, 1957, at Cadet, Missouri to Frank Kelly and Patsy L. Woodruff.

On June 20, 1992 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri she was married to Keith Snider. He survives. Debbie enjoyed Horses, flowers, reading, fishing and spending time with her family, and grandchildren.

She is also survived by, her children; Kimberly Emmons of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Freddy Emmons Jr. Neelyville, Missouri and Michael S. Snider of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Her father Frank Kelly and step mother Betty Kelly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, four sisters, Bobbie Yarber of Doniphan, Missouri, Micky Turner of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sandy Pickett  and Sherry Vandergriff both of Potosi, Missouri. Five brothers, Tony Kelly of Ellsinore, Missouri Kevin Kelly Of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Eddie Vandergriff ,  Steve Vandergriff  and Dennis Vandergriff  all of Potosi, Missouri.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rainy Kay Emmons, Freddy A. Emmons III, Hunter S. King, Cole L. Emmons and Grayson J. Snider.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy L. Woodruff Kelly and one daughter Christina Kay Emmons.

Visitation for Mrs. Snider will be Monday August 11, 2014 starting at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral following starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery at Neelyville, Missouri with Rev. Gene Riddle Officiating.
