Andrew Pickard

Andrew Wayne Pickard, 33, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Pickard was born March 20, 1981 in Poplar Bluff.  He was a member of New Life Tabernacle Church in Poplar Bluff.  He enjoyed  going to church, collecting movies, watching television and playing cards.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Bernice M. (Moore) Pickard; special aunts and uncles, Janice Moore, Margie and Roy Bostic, Martha Bean, Bennie Moore, and  Macklin Moore, Jackie Moore; Terry Pickard, Alvin Pickard, Galen Pickard, and Jimmy Case, as well as many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November, 6, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by the funeral service at noon.  The Rev. Larry Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Zalma, Mo.

Theaellis Wallace

Theaellis Wallace, 57, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Wallace was born December 17, 1956 in Neelyville, Mo.  He was a Merchant Marine and work construction.

He is survived by his son, Theaellis W. Hall; his mother, Pearlene (Wallace) McCain; six sisters, Jacqueline Bobson, Madeline Smith, Angela Broadrick-Smith, Connie Ferguson, Sylvia Young and Anita Scott-Jones; a brother, Phillip Wallace, as well as 3 grandchildren, Jazminn, Steffen and Jaylen Hall.  Also surviving, his girlfriend, Stephanie Prysork.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Jackson; a brother, Donald McCain; nephew, Steffen Bobson;great-nephew, Juelz Lopez and step-father, Sylvester McCain.

A memorial service will be held at 12 (noon) Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Loving Jesus Ministries Church, 2663 Thomas Street, Poplar Bluff, with the Rev. John McCain officiating.

Rev. Lester E. Galbraith

Rev. Lester Erben Galbraith, 94, of Mountain View, Mo. and formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Mountain View Healthcare.

Mr. Galbraith was born September 18, 1920, in Rozell, Kansas, to the late Frank and Grace Ellis Galbraith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and pastored many churches for sixty-four years, including the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Poplar Bluff.   He is the longest serving pastor in the Tri-State Pentecostal Holiness Conference.

On March 24, 1946 he married Helen Wanda Brigance in Mountain View, Mo.  She died August 1, 1999.  They were married for 53 years.  Later he married Mary Venable on September 15, 2001 in Poplar Bluff.  They were married 5 years until her passing on September 11, 2006.

Survivors include his children, Rodney Lester Galbraith, Helen Anita Vulgamott, Patricia Lynn Sharp, Jeffrey Alan Galbraith and John Ray Galbraith; grandchildren, Leslie Ann Renken, Sean Sharp, Lester Erben Galbraith II, Melissa Sellars, Nicholas Sharp, Joshua Galbraith, Lynn Ann Sharp, Aaron Galbraith and Cole Galbraith; great-grandchildren, Meghan Renken, James Sharp, Patricia Renken, Haley Sharp, Brenden Galbraith, Zachary Renken, Rhendi Sellars, Braden Galbraith, Jathan Sellars, Gavin Sharp, Kinsley White, Kynadie White; one great-great-grandchild, Olivia Marie Renken; step-children, Nancy Summers (Jerry), Sharon Jordan (Larry), Wanda Clark (Steve), Joyce Fowler (Ron), Eli Venable, Pricilla Elsworth  (Joe), and Raymond Ogle.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel.  The Rev. James Peevyhouse will officiate.  Burial will be in the Old City Cemetery in Mountain View.

Janis “J.K.” Stevens

Janis “J.K.” Stevens, 61, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at her residence.

She was born March 19, 1953, in Poplar Bluff to Robert Hawthorne and Ruby (Barriner) Hodapp.  Both preceded her in death.

She was of the Baptist faith, and worked as an administration clerk for Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn Taylor and husband, Bud and Marilyn Page; two brothers, Robert Hawthorne and Carl Rosell; one niece, Terri Taylor Woods and husband, Terry; three nephews, Tommy Taylor and wife, Carolyn, David Page and Brandon Page; as well as seven great-nieces and nephews, John David Page, Brice, Haleigh, Zack, Rachael, Ryan, and Sarah Beth Taylor.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 12 noon.  The Rev. Jim Osborn will officiate.  Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

Dennis James Keele

Dennis James Keele, 59, of Williamsville, Mo., departed this life Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Keele was born August 28, 1955 to Clyde James and Norma (Ward) Keele.

He is one of Jehovah’s Witness and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Poplar Bluff.

He loved fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his family.

On February 21, 1983 he was united in marriage to Tammy Clodfelter. She survives.

Also surviving, one daughter, Denyce Keele of the home; his mother, Norma Ward Keele; two brothers, Donald Keele and Leslie Keele and wife, Peggy; four nieces and three nephews.

Mr. Keele was preceded in death by his father, Clyde James Keele and a brother, William Carl Keele.

A memorial visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on NN hwy. in Poplar Bluff.  A memorial talk will follow at 2 p.m. with Jerry Griffiths speaking.

Ira Lawrence Melton

Ira Lawrence Melton, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Melton was born June 2, 1950 in Poplar Bluff to the late Ira Melton Jr. and Mary Jane Kenner-Braun.  He was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he was lead usher, Royal Ambassador Leader and sound technician.  He worked IT department at R-1 Schools for 40 years.   He enjoyed trains, genealogy, fishing, and his granddaughters.

On July 8, 1973 he married Sheila Bird in St. Louis,  who survives.

Other survivors include his children, Loren Melton and Mindy Lampe (Austin);  one sister, Melanie Cogswell (Joe) and brother, Charles Braun (Joyce); his granddaughters, Sophia Spell and Bella Lampe.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating.  Burial will be in City Cemetery.  Donations can be made to (for Ira’s medical expenses)

Curtis “Phil” Woods

Curtis “Phil” Woods, 63, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Woods was born May 19, 1951, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Wayne and Eva (Duckett) Woods.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for WW Wood Products. He enjoyed playing music and chess with his friends and being with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Whitney Allstun and husband, Aaron; one brother, Rodney Woods; three grandchildren, Mia Osgood and Noah and Brody Allstun, as well as a lifelong friend, Claudean Bryeans and her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. in the chapel.  The Rev. Paul White will officiate.  Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Ellsinore, Mo.

Harold Huster

Harold Dean Huster, 65, of Harviell, Mo., passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Huster was born January 12, 1949 in St. Charles, Mo., to the late Harold George Huster and Maxine Aulda (Raber) Huster.

He was a deacon at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, sang in the church choir, and taught two Sunday school classes, Faithful Workers and Second Milers Class. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Huster did home repair and enjoyed restoring old radios and electronics.  He also enjoyed camping, reading and loved being with his family.

On March 18, 1978, he married Honda (Winters) Huster in St. Louis.  She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Hilary Taylor (Josh); his mother-in-law, Barbara Winters; a sister, Donna Kluesner; brother, Michael Huster; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Kerris.

A memorial visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Fellowship General Baptist Church, 3581 North Westwood, Poplar Bluff, with the memorial funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.  The Rev. Byron Beck will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the Scouting Program at Fellowship General Baptist Church, 3581 North Westwood, Poplar Bluff, Mo. 63901.

Jo Ann Reed

Jo Ann Reed, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed peacefully on October 5, 2014 of natural causes.  She is survived by her daughter, Marla Andrews of Poplar Bluff and son, Doug (Carolyn) Reed of Beaverton,  Oregon; her grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Chris Andrews and Justin Andrews of Poplar Bluff, and Harry Reed and Julia Reed of Beaverton, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Dawson Andrews, Gracie Andrews and Lillie Andrews all of Poplar Bluff.

A much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jo is fondly remembered for being the life of every party.  A smart woman with a strong will and a keen sense of fun, Jo Mama loved to sing, dance, play games and shower her family with love and affection.  She was a huge sports fan, an avid reader and a gentle soul who loved the holidays and family traditions most of all.

Jo Ann was born in Parma, Missouri on July 2, 1938, the first born daughter of Fred and Edna Buckley.  A spirited child who was her grandfather’s favorite fishing buddy.  Jo was prone to mischief.  She grew up on the family farm and learned the value of hard work and the importance of education, traits she passed on to her children and values she embodied her entire life.

Jo Ann married Dewayne Reed of Broseley, Mo. in July 1959 and they built a life together in Missouri, California and Arizona until Dewayne’s passing in January 2005.  They enjoyed traveling together.

We remember Jo Mama for the many fun-filled times that spanned her entire life.  She was a memorable woman and left her mark and positive energy on everyone she met.  We will all miss her, but know she is in a better place.  We celebrate her life, her love and her memory.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Brown Chapel Cemetery, Broseley, Mo., with Brother Gary Groves officiating.

Cathy Tanner

Cathy Dianne Tanner, 57, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away October 3, 2014 at her home.

Ms. Tanner was born November 18, 1956.  She retired from SEMORS (group home) and enjoyed watching true crime TV and reading true crime books. She formerly attended the Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff.

She is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Tanner and mother Deltha Hankins, as well as one sister, Charlotte Gimblett.

A memorial visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 followed by a memorial funeral service at 7 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Rev. Rick White will officiate.
