Kim Rene Rudd Hardin

Kim Rene Rudd Hardin of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Mark Twain Caring Center, after having lived and loved her earthly time at the age of 57 years and 10 months.

Kim was born in Decatur, Ill. on March 27, 1957, the daughter of Donald W. “Duke” and Shirley Rudd, who survive.  She is also survived by her much loved daughter and companion, Amanda Rene Willis, of the home; two brothers, Kevin W. (Kelly) Rudd of Nashville, Tn. and Kris A. (Jeana) Rudd of Ellsinore, Mo.; nephews, Dillon and Dalton Rudd of Ellsinore and Michael Kizer of Nashville, as well as one niece, Catherine Kizer of Birmingham, Ala., and several aunts, nieces and nephews.

Kim was a member of Northpoint Nazarene Church in Poplar Bluff, where she enjoyed her fellow Christians and friend in church activities. She was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School in 1975.  She had worked in various jobs during her working career, but her main joy and hobby was crafts, decorating, trading and selling merchandise and caring for her flowers and garden. She loved her family and spending time with “Mom” and “Mandy” traveling, going to yard sales and antique stores looking for “stuff”, and of course her constant companion and loyal dog, “Peetie”.

She is preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Amanda Rene and Anna Beth Downing and daughter, Elizabeth June Downing.

A memorial service will be held at the Northpoint Nazarene Church, hwy. 67 North, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Wednesday, January 28, 2015.  Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the  funeral service at 1 p.m.  A graveside service will be held in the City Cemetery for family and friends.  Pastors Greg Gilberto and Kevin W. Rudd will officiate.

Donations may be given to the family for the Kim Hardin Memorial Fund.

Barbara Rogers

Barbara Kay Rogers, 69, of Terre Haute, Ind. died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Signature Health Care in Terre Haute.

Mrs.Rogers was born Aug. 11, 1945, in Portageville, Mo. She formerly had lived in the Neelyville and Harviell area. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and knitting. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors are her children, Renae Atterbery and Kimberly Baker, both of Terre Haute, Quinton Glasstetter of St. Louis, Dana Murdock of Naylor and Michael Glasstetter of Poplar Bluff; sisters, Shirley Quintana of Poplar Bluff and Sharon Stone of Elwood, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Toy Stone and Gladys Howell Stone; one sister, Ann Taylor; and one brother, O’Dean Stone.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Donnie Fowler and Renae Aterbery will officiate.

Eddie Holman

Eddie Dwain Holman, 55, of Hurst, TX., died January 16, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Holman was born May 27, 1959 in Festus, Mo. He worked in construction, and enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and visiting with friends and family. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Mr. Holman was survived by his mother, Lue Ellen Kelton Holman, of Dexter, Mo.; 2 sisters; Vickie Medley, of Dexter, Mo., Hope McCullough, of Bloomfield, Mo.; 5 brothers, Rodney James Holman, of Hurst, TX., Richard Holman, and Cecil Holman, both of Dexter, Mo., Neal Holman, of Wappapello, Mo., and Dale Holman, of Advance, Mo.; as well as several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Walter Holman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January, 24, 2015, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Faith Apostolic Church, in Sturdivant, Mo., with Pastor Mike Dutton officiating. Burial will be held at Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Jewell Morris

Jewell Louise Morris, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, January, 19, 2015 at her home.

She was born January 28, 1931, in Deering, Mo., to the late Regie B. Graham and Mamye Lorene (Sakers) Graham. She was a homemaker and had worked as a beautician.  She enjoyed watching television and talking on the phone.

On September 2, 1949, she married Glen D. Owen. On January 6, 1979, she married Ernest (Jack) Morris.  He preceded her in death April 8, 2001.

Survivors include her sons, Glen Dewayne Owen and Dave Edward Owen; two step-daughters, Tina Patty and Debbie Pruett; a sister, Berlina Green; two brothers, Charles Graham and Joe Graham, as well as her grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by two brothers, R.B. Graham and Alvin Graham; and step-daughter, Suzy Wilson.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, with the Rev. Richard Hockersmith officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Randle Eugene Milde

Randle E. Milde, 71, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away January 15, 2015 in the Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  He was born December 18, 1943, at Broseley , Missouri to the late William and Lerlean “Rickman” Milde.

He had been a aircraft mechanic and enjoyed fishing, Bingo, playing cards, arrow head hunting and gardening.

On July 29, 1982 in Spring , Texas he was married to Bobbie Pilcher. She survives.

Also surviving are his children; Russell Curnutt and wife Missy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Rhonda Sullivan and husband Eddie of Harviell, Mo, Robert Curnutt, and  Bridget Curnutt both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Lori  Casinger and husband Dwayne of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Randy Milde and wife Angelia of Neelyville, Mo.. His sisters, Maurice Bruce of St. Louis, Mo.., Carol Rounds of Woodland, Washington, Sue Atkinson of St. Louis, Mo., Marilyn Paul of Woodland, Washington, Janine Jones of Medical Lake, Washington, Tina Milde of Woodland Washington. Ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one grandchild and on brother Leon Milde.

Visitation for Mr. Milde, will be Monday January 19, 2015 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. starting at 11:00 am with the funeral following at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery near Neelyville, Missouri with Donnie Fowler officiating.

Bertha Beatrice Beecher

Bertha Beatrice Beecher, 97, of Houston, Texas, departed this life Saturday, January 10, 2015, at her home in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Beecher was born October 24, 1917, at Coon Island, Missouri. She was married to Harvey Beecher and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gracie, as well as 1 sister, Iva Hancock and 1 niece Googie Kingry.

She is survived by 1 daughter Jessie Beecher Cortez of Houston, TX., 1 grand-daughter, Yolanda Martinez; 2 great-grandchildren Brandon Martinez and Sophia Morina and 3 great- great- grandchildren, Madison, Caleb and Morgan Martinez and 1 niece Shirley Dollins. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and embroidering.

Visitation will be held Friday Jan. 16, 2015, beginning at 6 pm and Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Neelyville, with services following at 10 am Saturday morning. Bud Beecher will officiate and burial will follow in the Coon Island Cemetery.

Susan Fortner South

Susan Fortner South, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away January 8, 2015 at NHC Nursing Home in Maryland Heights , Mo.

She was born March 26, 1928, in Tennessee, to the late Henry Turnage and Bertha (Adkins) Turnage.  She attended Highland Drive Church of Christ.  She also enjoyed playing bingo and flowers.  She retired from Ritenour High School.

Survivors include her children, Barry Taylor and wife Debbie, Glenda Taylor Pessetti and husband, John and Michael Taylor and wife, Caron;  three grandchildren, Christa Hinojosa, Amanda Anderson and Alanna Shepard, as well as two great-grandchild, Oliva Hinojosa and Timothy Shepard

She is preceded in death by a son, R. Steven Taylor and husbands, Hollis South and Norman Fortner and a great-granddaughter, Alicia Hinojosa.

Visitation will begin at noon  Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Vernon Curry officiating.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Mary Barlow

Mary Evelyn Barlow, 61, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

She was born August 6, 1953 in Waukegan, Ill.  to the late Pete Paul Paukner Sr. and Mildred Evelyn (Hill) Paukner.

She worked for the Butler County Sheriff for 21 years and three years for the Ripley County Sheriff.  After her retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart.  She attended First Baptist Church and was loyal to her family and a hard worker.

On February 9, 2000 she married Kirk Barlow in Poplar Bluff.  He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Jamie Glenn Snodgrass and wife, Jamie; 3 step children; Holly Palacio, Kelsey Barlow, Kirk Barlow II,  four brothers, Paul Paukner, Robert Paukner and wife, Bernice, Eddie Paukner and wife, Susan, Billy Paukner and wife, Patti; seven grandchildren, Jamie Snodgrass Jr., Matthew Tyler Snodgrass, Jesse James Snodgrass,  Kay’La Marie Snodgrass, Piper Aurora Salzman, Lucas and Olivia Palacio

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday January 10, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the chapel, with Sheriff Dobbs and Merrill Barlow officiating.  Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery, Oxly, Mo.

Wayne Lee Sheppard Sr.

Wayne Lee Sheppard Sr. , 62, of Harviell, Mo., died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the  University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. surrounded by many loving family members.

Mr. Sheppard was born on March 20, 1952 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was a life long resident of the area. He retired from Gates Rubber company in 2001.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, working in his shop, spending time at  his cabin, and time spent with family and friends. After the death of his wife, he raised five children that were still in his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda. They were married on May 10, 1969 and were married 32 years before her death on September 26, 2001. He was also preceded in death by both of is parents, Kyle Sheppard Sr. and Anna Jane (May) Dollins, 2 brothers, Kyle Sheppard, Jr. and Billy Darrell Sheppard, and his beloved mother-in-law, Velta (Cox) Franklin.

Wayne is survived by seven children, Vicki Lynn Craft and husband, John, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Wayne Sheppard Jr. and wife Beverly, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Becca Joy Warren and husband, Sonny of Blackwater, Zack Browne of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Lawrence Heacock of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Shannon and Leroy Heacock both of the home; two sisters, Sherry Wilson and Pam Bowles and one brother, Gary Sheppard all of Harviell, Mo.; eight Grandchildren, Revecca and Michaela Craft of Litchfeld Park, Lehanne Burgett of Poplar Bluff, Shayne Burgett of San Diego, California, Bayleigh and Brylen Warren of Blackwater, Amber Schmidt and her husband, Jeren and Justin Shipley as well as three great-grandchildren; Noah of Fayetteville, Ark., and Savanah and Hailey also survive, and many beloved in-laws, other family members, and friends.

Visitation for Wayne will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelvyille from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.. Funeral will be Sunday January 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in  the Chapel in Neelyville. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery with Donnie Fowler Officiating.

Family  request that instead of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Neelville School Library in honor of Wayne Sheppard Sr.

Sherry Szczeblewski

Sherry Dawn Szczeblewski, 57, of Wappapello Mo., departed this world on January 5, 2015.

She was born June 27, 1957 in St. Louis Mo.  She is the daughter of Albert and Nellie Szczeblewski.

Sherry graduated high school from Hazelwood, in St. Louis and received a B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau Mo. She was a retired business owner of a specialty medical billing company.

She is survived by her spouse of 28 years Donna Almond of Wappapello, Mo., loving family members, nieces, Jody Watson of O’Fallon, Mo., Emily Kelsoe of Baton Rouge, La., Rachel Almond of St. Petersburg, Fl., Rebekah Sims of Bloomington, Ind., and nephews, Jason Means of O’Fallon, Mo. and Josh Means of Bridgeton, Mo.

Sherry was an outdoor enthusiast and loved being on the lake and celebrating life with family and friends.

She was a member of Lake Wappapello United Methodist Church and requested memorials be made to Lake Wappapello UMC food pantry.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. February 14, 2015 at Lake Wappapello United Methodist Church.

She will be greatly missed by many friends and extended family.

Sherry’s outlook on life followed this quote: “Life is not  a journey to the grave in a pretty and well preserved body but rather to skid broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, proclaiming WOW-what a ride.”
