Joseph Wayne Collier

Joseph Wayne Collier, 68, of Neelyville, Missouri, passed away February 27, 2015 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born February 19, 1947 at Yuma, Arizona .

He was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and had served in the United States Army  during the Vietnam era.  enjoyed hunting, walking and mowing the lawn.

On October 25, 1980 in Naylor, Missouri He was married to Charlene Worley. She Survives.

Also surviving are, One son, Keith Worley of Neelyville, Missouri, One Sister, Mary Hardy and one one brother, Robert Collier. five step sisters, Joyce Davis of Piggot, Arkansas, Barbara Baccus of Harviell, Missouri, Karen Silkwood of Oxly, Missouri, Connie Jean Gordon and Carlotta Eakins both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, one step brother, Dennis Gordon of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He was preceded death by one sister, Joann Suri, one brother Will Collier as well as two step brothers, Floyd Dale Gordon and Ronnie Dean Gordon, His step father and mother Elvis Gordon and Era Gordon.

visitation will be Monday March 2, 2015 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville starting at 6:00 p.m. with funeral March 3, 2015 Tuesday starting at 1:00 p.m..  Pastor Sammy Worley and Rev. Daruis Smith will be officiating.

James McNew

James H. McNew, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at his home.

Mr. McNew was born May 31, 1941, in Doniphan, Mo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was retired from the railroad.

In May 1991, he married Cindy McNew in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Along with his wife he is also survived by five children, Kenny McNew and wife, Shelly, Karen Sprouse and husband, Michael, Kim Webb and husband, Jerry, John Fuller McNew, and Travis Fuller McNew; two sisters, Barbara Frey and Lana Parks; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews that are well loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. McNew and Violet (Jiles) Adams as well as  two sisters, Sheila Dorris and Vera Hogan.

Visitation will begin at 1p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will follow at 2p.m. with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Shannon Sopko

Shannon Marie Sopko, 34, of Fairdealing, Mo. died Feb. 22,  2015.

Shannon was born Jan. 20, 1981 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  She was a lifelong resident of Ripley County who enjoyed her children and singing Karaoke.

She is survived by her 2 children, Wade Sopko and Doran Gunter; her parents, Wade Gunter and Diana DeRousse Gunter all of Fairdealing, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillie E. Gunter; paternal grandparents, Floyd Gunter and Dorothy Gunter; maternal grandparents, Francis DeRousse and Virginia DeRousse; and 3 uncles, Wayne DeRousse, Bob Gunter, and Daniel Gunter.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery in Fairdealing, Mo.

Emma Lou Purdy

Emma Lou Purdy, 87,  of Oxly, Mo. died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at Current River Nursing Center.

Mrs. Purdy was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Yuma, Az. She worked as a home health caregiver who enjoyed sewing, gardening, deck work, and the race track.

In 1959 Emma married Richard Purdy in Alamogordo, NM. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1987.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lou Foster and Ethal Graiq.

Mrs. Purdy is survived by her daughter, Dee McKeever, of Norwood, Co., and two grandchildren Patrick J. McKeever and Ryan McKeever

No services will be scheduled.

Patricia Pipkins

Patricia C. “Johns” Pipkins, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of the Fenton area, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 29, 1951 in Naylor, Mo. to the late Aaron Ray Johns and the late Geneva Darnell Johns.

She retired from the Chrysler Corporation. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, traveling and photography. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Shuman of Poplar Bluff; one sister Mavella Underwood of St. Louis; seven brothers, Earl Johns of Arnold, Mo., Linzey Johns of Wabash, In., Bill Johns of Mo., Glenn Johns of Bonne Terre, Mo., Anthony Johns of Hillsboro, Mo., Leroy Johns of Sullivan, Mo., and Darrell Johns of Naylor; four grandchildren: Justin, Jeremy, Michael, Tyler and one great-grandson, Keiten.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Chipman and Artie Turner; and one brother, David “Coy” Johns.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at the chapel with the Rev. Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Gum Cemetery.

Russell Wilburn

Grover Russell Wilburn, age 82, of Crossville, Tn., died Sunday, February 22, 2015. He was the former owner of the Country Cupboard Store.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Lydia Wilburn; siblings, Darrell Wilburn, Penny Allen, Johnny Wilburn.

He is survived by seven children; sisters, Laverne Wilson, Malden, MO, Ginger Garcia, Clarksville, TN, Faye Wilburn, Oran, MO; brothers, Glen Wilburn, Pacific, MO, Harry Wilburn, Naylor, MO, Micky Wilburn, Folsom, LA, Rex Wilburn, Neelyville, MO, Kenneth Wilburn, Pikeville, TN, Terry Wilburn, Sikeston, MO, Dickie Wilburn, Pikeville, TN, Ronnie Wilburn, Gideon, MO.

Visitation will begin Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 from 11:00-1:00 with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held at Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

Alvin Pollard SR.

Alvin Richard Pollard Sr., 64, of Naylor, Mo., died Feb. 21, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Pollard was born, Dec. 16, 1950 in St. Louis, Mo. He worked as a farmer, and enjoyed playing scratch off tickets, the guitar, and enjoyed car racing. He was a lifelong area resident

He is survived by his 3 sons; Alvin Pollard JR. of Trenton, TN., John of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Jeremy of Bloomfield, Mo.; 3 sisters, Peggy McElhaney, of Neelyville, Mo., Judy Legate, of Harviell, Mo., Jane Gordon, of Piggott, Ar.; 1 brother, Fred Pollard, of Fairdealing; 1 special friend, Branson Garrett; as well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Fred Pollard and Hilda Schrammal and one son, Bobby Joe Pollard.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 from 11:00-1:00 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel with funeral services beginning at 1:00p.m. Burial will be held at Ash Hill Cemetery, in Fisk, Mo.

Marsha Jean Pruitt

Marsha Jean Pruitt, 60, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at her home.

She was born on June 2, 1954 to James Holden and Helen (Kenser) Holden in Poplar Bluff.

She had worked as a cook at the Poplar Bluff school and enjoyed watching movies and playing with her dog “Popcorn”.

She is survived by her parents and 2 sons, John Pruitt and Donald Rogers; four grandchildren, Wyatt Pruitt, Jemeson Pruitt, Donnie Rogers and Mckenzie Rogers.

A memorial service  will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, February 27,2015, at the Bible Baptist Church located at South C and Holly Street in Poplar Bluff.

Donald Stubbs

Donald Stubbs, 63, of Wappapello, Mo., passed away at his residence February 18, 2015.

Mr. Stubbs was born April 29, 1951 in West Plains, Mo., to the late Charles Stubbs and Deloris Collins-Stubbs.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He is retired from the United States Army and had served in Vietnam.

His hobbies were his family, fishing, coon hunting, watching westerns and bull riding on television.

He married Doris Arnold-Stubbs on April 29, 2005 in Piggott, AR.  She survives.

Also surviving are children, Christina Wells and husband, Kevin, Donald Evans and wife, Stephanie , Pamela Green and husband, Tommy and Matthew Evans and wife, Sherry;  5 sisters, Lou Barnett, Paula Sally, Annabell Usher, Nancy Odell, Molly Sappington; 7 brothers, Danny, Doyle, Paul, Dwayne, Floyd, Boyd, and Mike Stubbs; 11 grandchildren, one of which, a special granddaughter in his heart, Katelyn Jean Evans; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stubbs was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister, Bonnie Kay Stubbs.

Visitation will be at 10a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Brother Calvin “Bub” Ham officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be held in the Qulin Cemetery.

Dennis Ray Kelley Sr.

Dennis Ray Kelley Sr., 67, of Neelyville, Missouri, passed away February 7, 2015 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born February 3, 1948 at Deering, Missouri to the late Burneis Kelley and Luella Walker Kelley.

He enjoyed working, spending time with family and enjoyed westerns and Cardinal baseball. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

On April 12, 2000 at Piggott, Arkansas he was married to Sharon Abanatha.  She survives.

Also surviving, his children, Dennis Kelley Jr. and wife, Dee Dee of Liberty, Missouri, Lisa Henry and husband, Don of Bernie, Mo., Amy Mekan and husband, Todd of Bernie, Mo., Marian Gray and husband, Brad of Jonesboro, Arkansas; six sisters, Patricia Parker of Malden, Mo., Emma Bowling of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Brenda Neal of Malden, Mo., Sarah Musgrave of Gideon, Mo., Trella Musgrave of Malden, Mo., and Diane Kelley of Kennett, Mo.; three brothers, Robert Kelley of Holcomb, Mo., Bobby Kelley of Wrangell, Alaska and Elmer “Buster” Kelley of Portageville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Kelley, Abigail Kelley, Dennis Ray Kelley III, Brooke Lynn Kelley, Weston Henry, Bailey Henry, Kaylee Pillow Alison Mekan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two sisters, Sue Kelley and Lorretta Norris and one brother, Sonny Kelley.

Visitation for Mr. Kelley will be February 10, 2014 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville starting at 10 am with the funeral following at 1:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Rev Jeff McConnaughay and Rev. Donnie Fowler officiating.
