Hilda Moss

Hilda June Moss, 82, of Mill Spring, Mo., passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, in Jonesboro, Ark.

She was born January 21, 1933, in Crofton, Ky.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Jehovah Witnesses.

She enjoyed fishing, her ministry work, spending time with her family and playing cards.

On December 15, 1951, she married Maurice Eugene Moss in Pocahontas, Ark.  He survives.

Other survivors include her four children, Dale Moss, Janet Bradley, Sandra Brookreson and Mary Bey; one sister, Glenda Gomez; eight grandchildren, Andrea, Alesia, Andy, Allison, King, Jennifer, Doug and Dale; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Mary Ebling and one grandson, Joey.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bryant Arena officiating.

Richard L. Woods

Richard L. Woods, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at The Manor Nursing Facility.

Mr. Woods was born November 24, 1929 in Poplar Bluff to Charles Woods and Hazel Belle (Wright) Woods.  They both precede him in death.

He was a member of Agee Fellowship Church and served on the church Board of Trustees, Building Committee, and served as an usher at Westside Church of God in earlier years.  He was a board member of the United Rescue Mission and lifetime member of the Poplar Bluff Gun Club, board member of the Sportsman Association and Friends of Mingo.

Mr. Woods retired from Mo. Natural Gas Co.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gun repair and refinishing and reloading shells.

On April 14, 1949 he married Nellie C.  Agee   Woods in Piggott, Ark.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Ronald Lee Woods (Donna), of Poplar Bluff, Denise Cope (James) also of Poplar Bluff, Randy L. Woods, M.D. (Buffy) of Wappapello and Roger L. Woods M.D. (Barbara) of Jackson, Tn.;  two sisters, Imogene Jones (Walter) of Poplar Bluff and Barbara Lemons (Edward) of Kansas City Mo.; and one brother, Paul Woods (Elaine) of Ellsinore, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, David Woods (Kacie), Amy Cope, Lucas Cope, Sierra Woods, Levi Woods, Lyndsey Woods, Drew Woods, and  Mason Woods; as well as 3 great-grandchildren, June, Olivia and Holden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Katherine, Ruth, Alberta, Bill and Walter, and a grandson Kevin Woods.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. assisted by James Agee,  burial will take place in the Nunn Cemetery in Butler County.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Agee Fellowship Church Steeple Fund,in care of the church, or the Nunn Cemetery in care of the US Bank

Darlene Bowman

Darlene Bowman, 65, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away May 21, 2015 at her residence. she was born October 20, 1949  in Neelyville, Missouri to the late Clyde Ferguson and Anna Leigh Ferguson.

She attended the Logan Creek General Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, watching birds and traveling. She was a cook at the Neelyville School System.

On October 25, 196 at Neelyville, Missouri she was married to Walter Bowman Jr.. He survives.

Also surviving, one son, Lee Bowman of Doniphan, Missouri, four sisters, Ella Meda Alexander of Ellington, Missouri, Betty Kelly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Norma Mize Doniphan, Missouri and Lois Frye of Piedmont, Missouri. One brother, Ronnie Ferguson of Jasper, Arkansas and two grandsons Braydon Bowman and James Dillion Owens also survive.

She was preceded in death by one son; Douglas Scott Bowman as well as two brothers, Raymond Ferguson and Francis Ferguson.

Visitation for will be Tuesday may 26, 2015 starting at 11:00 am with the funeral following at 1:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyille, Mo. Burial will be in the Brown Chapel Cemetery near Broseley, Missouri with Donnie Fowler officiating.

Dora F Dillon

Dora F Dillon 69, of Doniphan, MO., passed away Tuesday May 19, 2015 at Siteman Cancer Center in St.Louis.

She was born on November 14, 1945 in Ripley County to the late Charley Wilder and Glayds Collins Wilder.

She was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Church in Fairdealing. She was a retired administrative assistant who enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and reading.

Surviving  include her children; Barbie Willits  and husband Jeff, Lisa Dillon and David, Eric Dillon and wife Jennifer, Jodi Rowland and husband Larry,and Nick Dillon and Heather. One sister  Barbara Hovis, one sister-in-law Carol Wilder.

grandchildren, Joshua, Anthony, Brianna, Dezi, Alexis, Jared, Aaron, Cameron (Monkey) , Taylor, Emily, Matthew, Jon, Lauren, Trenton, Jayson, and Christa.

5 great-grandchildren; William, Maycee, Payton, Hayden, and Dillon. numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding her in death was one sister , Olive Hall, and three brothers  C.A.Wilder, Paul Wilder and Donald Ray Wilder.

Visitation will be after 6 pm Friday  at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, funeral services will be at 1 pm Saturday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, with Bro.Ron Payne officiating, internment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery near Doniphan.

Terry Massingham

Terry Lynn Massingham, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Massingham was born April 11, 1948 in Poplar Bluff to the late Wallace and Edna Massingham.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a bookkeeper at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed hunting, wood working and gardening.

He married Janice (Pruett) Massingham in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Erica King-Crawford (Bryan); two brothers, Dan Massingham (Carol) and Mark Massingham (Paula); as well as his grandchildren, Mallory and Bailey King and Jocelyn Crawford.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Deem officiating.  Burial with Military Rites will be the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to be made to: UCAN, American Heart Association or  John J. Pershing Medical Center.

Mary Weisbrod

Mary Weisbrod, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at The Cedargate Nursing Facility.

She was born August 23, 1935 in Neelyville, Mo.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and worked as a nurse’s aide.  She enjoyed hidden word search and travel.

Her husband, Walter Weisbrod preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Jacqueline Schiffbauer (William), Maggie Zornes (Dave), Marilyn Severin and Deborah Waite; two brothers, Russell and Larry Bookout; six grandchildren, William Hastings, Larry Chapman Jr., Serena Kinncade, David Heedeen, Ashley Horton, and Sean Zornes; six great-grandchildren, Kyra, Larridy and Shelby Chapman, Kortney Hastings, Evianah and Jenny Kinncade; as well as two great-grandchildren, Noah and Braden Sydney.
Also preceding her in death include her father, Quincy Bookout and mother, Eva Joe Gimlin; sons, Richard and Michael Weisbrod; and brother, Kenny Bookout.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral service at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Ted Elledge will officiate.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Jerry Sheridan

Jerry Lee Sheridan, 73, of Naylor, Mo., died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1941 in Oxly, Mo. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Sweety Belle Buhler

Sweety Belle Buhler, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, May 8, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 24, 1931, in Harviell, Mo. Her hobbies were quilting, flowers, enjoying, her grandchildren, cooking and her church. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Harviell Pentecostal Church. She worked as a homemaker and was a lifelong resident of the area.

On March 24, 1948, she married Lawrence Buhler in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Cecil Buler and wife, Sherin, of Littleton, CO.; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Buhler of Summersville, Mo.; five sisters, Adela Uhl, Dolly Clayton, and Sarah Jean Knox, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Louella Luther of Hoxie, Ar., and Margie Barker of St. Louis; four brothers, Kenneth Barker of Tampa, Fla., Edward Barker of Maynard, Ark., Ross Barker of Summersville and Thomas Barker of Harviell; two grandsons, Mathew, and Mark Buhler; three granddaughters, Christina Hubbard, Sheila Stoops, and Melissa Holland and nine great-grandchildren. one daughter in law Charlotte Barker also survives.

She was preceded in the by her parents, Marion Barker and Stella Harris Barker; one son, Johnny Buhler; and one brother, Virgil Barker.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial chapel in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leroy Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Edwin Winters

Edwin Winters, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Winters was born March 17, 1921 in Glenallen, Mo. to the late Arthur Sylvester Winters and Anna Belle (Myers) Winters.

He was a previous resident of Lutesville, Mo. and of Michigan.  He served in the Navy Seabee during WWII and Iwo Jima.  He was a pipefitter and steel worker in Michigan and was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and VFW in Michigan and Lutesville. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

On January 26, 1947 he married Thelda (Link) Winters.  She precedes him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Stage and Carole Becker; 3 grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Brian J. Becker and Amy Lynn Winters; as well as one great-granddaughter, Bailey Nichole Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Sterling Howard Winters and sister, Mildred Edith Palmeri.

A visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by a graveside funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Walker Cemetery, Bloomfield, Mo.
