Tedford Ralph Massey

Tedford Ralph Massey, 74, of Williamsville, Mo., passed away June 10, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Massey was born June 14, 1940 in Wright Co. Mo. to the late Willy and Juanita Massey.

He had previously lived in the St. Louis area.  He was a member of the Eagles at Wappapello.  He served in the US Army 1960-1963 and served in Germany.  He is retired from the Ford Motor Co., where he was known as” Massey from Chassie”.

He was married to Evelyn Massey, she survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Tina McAtee (Jerry) of St. Peters, Mo., Pam Sutkus (Rich) of Richfield, OH, a sister, Joyce E. Whitaker of Republic, MO; 6 grandchildren, JJ, and Tyler McAtee, Leo, Evelyn, Colin, and Wyatt Sutkus.

Mr. Massey was preceded in death by his parents, Willy and Juanita Massey and a sister, Wilma Kimble.

Internment will be at 10am  June 22, 2015, in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

Betty Ann Crossen

Betty Ann Crossen, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away June 10, 2015 In the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff. She was born October 5, 1945 I MoArk, Arkansas to the late Wayne Leonard and Lora Cremans Leonard.  Betty was married to Tom Crossen in 1967 at Neelyville, Missouri. He survives.

Also surviving, her children; Terry Crossen and wife Erica of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, John Crossen and wife Paula of Corning, Arkansas, Mary Ainley and husband David of Neelyville, Missouri, Scott Crossen of Neelyville, Missouri and Gary Leonard of Neelyville, Missouri. Three sisters, Donna Pearson of Hayti, Missouri, Ella Mae Hathaway of MoArk, Arkansas, Lora Lynn Niswonder of Dardnelle, Arkansas, Three Brothers; Eddie Leonard of Doniphan, Missouri, David Leonard and John Leonard both of Corning, Arkansas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as one sister, and two brothers, Fred Leonard Sr and Don Leonard.

She was a member of Corning Assembly of God , She enjoyed smoking with her friends, fishing, crossword puzzles, shopping and most important pastime was being with her grandkids.

Visitation for Mrs. Crossen will be June 12, 2015 fro 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri with the funeral June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Corning Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy McMasters officiating.

Robert Boyers

Robert James Boyers, 94, a lifelong resident of Butler County, MO passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 7, 2015 at the John J Pershing Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Boyers was born April 26, 1921 to Chester and Grace Sparkman Boyers.  He was baptized at age 14 in Cane Creek and attended Bay Springs Church as a child.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Boyers attended rural Butler County Schools, then Poplar Bluff High School.  He was a talented baseball player known as Rag Arm and was scouted by Saint Louis to pitch.  However, he chose to remain in Butler County to assist his father on the family farm.  He was later drafted and served in the United States Army during World War II.

He traveled to Michigan to work as a welder during the height of the automobile industry.  There he met his wife Mary Helen Sierawski.  They married on August 3, 1953.  They returned to rural Poplar Bluff where they purchased a farm and began a family.  He also worked in construction and assisted with numerous building projects, including Poplar Bluff’s Twin Towers, Cotrell Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff Bowling Alley, Highway 67 and the historic brick streets of Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Boyers passion was raising livestock, especially Charolais cattle, sheep and hogs.  He was a master gardener and also enjoyed fox hunting since a young boy.  He was also a Butler County historian and always eager to share his extraordinary stories.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Nella and husband, Wayne Willcut, and Grace Smith Armor; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Smith (West Plains), Marissa Day, Kate Fanning (Grand Rapids, MI), David Smith and Michael Willcut; 9 great-grandchildren, Connor, Chloe and Carly Smith, Morgan, Makynli and Blake Day, Addison and Caroline Smith, and Ruby Grace Fanning, a brother, Herschel Boyers of Windsor, VA and a sister, Joan Richardson of Poplar Bluff

Mr. Boyers was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Helen Boyers, an infant son, Robert James Boyers, sisters, Bess Miller, Alma Harloff, Ruth Thurman, Kate Epps VanAnda, Hildagard Boyers, LaNelle Kumpe, and Imojean Taylor.

Visitation will be 6pm  Thursday June 11 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street Poplar Bluff, MO  Funeral service will be 11am  Friday, June 12 in the funeral home chapel with Richard Epps officiating. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.

Mellissa Jean Stevens

Mellissa Jean Stevens, 34, of St.Louis, Missouri, passed away June 2, 2015, at her residence. She was born February 19, 1981 at St/Louis, Missouri to Freddy W. Stevens and Mary J. Haynes.

She enjoyed spending time with children and her job. She worked in daycare/Child car center.

She is survived by her children James Stevens, Anthony Hux, Ava Malkowski, Alyssa Malkowski, Timothy (TJ) Williams . One brother James Stevens of St.Louis, Missouri, Two sisters, Teresa Cook and Rachel Cook both of St.Louis, Missouri and her fiancé James Hux of St.Louis.

Visitation for Mellissa will be starting at 11:00a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Monday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri,  with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at the New Home Cemetery at Tucker, Missouri.

Emma Judy Combs Higgs Lawson

Emma Judy Combs Higgs  Lawson, 63,  of Doniphan, Missouri passed away June 1, 2015 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born October 2, 1951 at Harviell, Missouri to the late William Roy Combs and Mary Ward Combs.

On November 7, 1975 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri she was married to Earl Leon Higgs He preceded her in death on June 5, 1978. She then married Paul Gene Lawson who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Randy Higgs and Jason Higgs both of Doniphan, Missouri. She is also survived by Nephews Dennis Combs and wife Cindy, Don Combs and wife Shannon, great niece Taylor Combs and great nephew Austin Combs.

She was preceded in death by three brothers two in infancy and William Joe Combs.

Visitation will start at 11:00 am June 6, 2015 with the funeral starting at 2:00 p.m.  June 6, 2015  in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery with Dennis Fowler and Donnie Fowler officiating

Eva Faye Hinze

Eva Faye Hinze, 95, of Cape Giriadeau, Missouri, passed away in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born April, 1, 1920 at Beaver Creek Township, Missouri to the late Meek Morris and Luella Smothers Morris. On May 17, 1941 at Jackson, Missouri She was married Arthur L. (Bus) Hinze. He preceded her in death in 1958.

She is survived by three sons: Everett Hinze and wife Jeanette of Jackson, Missouri, James Hinze and wife Donna of Jackson, Missouri and Billy (KC) Hinze of Sedgewickville, Missouri. five grandchildren, Eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.

She was the owner operator of a salvage yard business where she was known as Sam. She had this business for 40 years.  She enjoyed automobiles, and her grandchildren, do activities and traveling with them. She was a member of Cape First Church.

Visitation for Mrs. Hinze will be Friday June 5, 2015 starting at 10:00 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri. burial will follow in the Cochran Cemetery near Harviell, Missouri with Pastor Charles Lance Officiating
