Robert Lee Wallace

Robert Lee Wallace, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away July 29, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Wallace was born May 21, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, the late Manuel Wallace and Fannie Mae Matthews-Wallace.

He was a Deacon at Morning Star Baptist Church and retired as a Shift Commander from Poplar Bluff City Fire Department.  He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and doing auto body work.

On August 15, 1970 he married Olivia Jones-Wallace in Poplar Bluff.   She survives.

Also surviving include his children, Robert L. Wallace Jr. (Mary Ann), Frank Wallace, Shannon Wallace, Spc. Harold Devante Wallace (Elizabeth), Retired Sgt. Buddy Wallace (Bridget), Amanda Jeniece Wallace and a special niece, Chiquita R. Griffin; 5 sisters, Velma Ward, Rose Marie Wallace, Rose Mary Britton, Lilly Mae Mwaniki, and Virginia Barnes; 2 brothers, Gary Wallace and Tony Wallace; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; special friends of the family, Jocelyn Muldrew and Chasity Boyer; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wallace was also preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Culp, Shirley Harden; and brothers, William Wallace, James Wallace, Manuel Wallace, Terry Wallace and George Wallace.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, followed by the funeral service at 12 (noon), at the Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church, Speedway Drive, Poplar Bluff.  The Rev. Andrew Jefferson and Rev. Spencer Jones will officiate.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.  The repass will be held at  Wheetly School.

Florence McComb

Florence McComb, 73, of Neelyville, Mo.,  died Friday, July 24, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. McComb was born April 15, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. She worked as a home service worker in the home healthcare business. She served on the City Council from 1994 – 2007 as well as serving as mayor and a head start teacher for Neelyville. Mrs. McComb was also a member of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #23 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was a member of the Agape House of Worship in Neelyville, where she served as church secretary , treasurer, Sunday school teacher, choir director.

On May 10, 1969 she married Ted McComb in Corning, Ar. He survives.

Also surviving are her 8 children, Teddy McComb Jr. & wife Cindy of Neelyville, Mo., Cliff McComb & wife Jennifer of Wichita, Ks., Pat Wallace & husband  Lee of Neelyville, Donnell McComb & wife Lorratta of Neelyville, Mo., Katina Howell & Husband Gerald of Wichita, Ks., Troy McComb & wife Gina of Del Rio,TX., Kristina Gibson & husband Linden of Columbia, Mo., Lennell  Wilson & husband Kevin of Columbia,  Mo.; Retha Deaner, raised by Florence as a daughter; 35 grandchildren; and 74 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was one son, Edward McComb; parents, Javers BrownLee Sr. and Homerzell McFadden; 4 sisters, Vernita BrownLee, Gerelean BrownLee, Fannie Barker, Marcella BrownLee; and 3 brothers, Javers BrownLee, Isaiah Smith, and Lewis Charles Smith.

Funeral Services will begin with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 with funeral arrangements beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. Pastor Donnell McComb will be officiating and burial will take place at the Neelyville Cemetery.

Eunice Dunnam

Eunice Catherine Dunnam, 80, of Doniphan, Mo., formerly of OK.,  died Friday, July 24, 2015 at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mrs. Dunnam was born April 26, 1935 in Texas. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, caning, and her children and grandchildren.

On April 5, 1953 she married Ray Alvin Dunnam in Walcott, Ar. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Roxie Ann Dunnam Enos of  Clio, Mich., Kimberly Ray Dunnam of Triangle, VA., Stephen Krayle Dunnam of Kenton, OH., Klayton Aaron Dunnam of Oklahoma City, OK., Kathleen Rochelle Berry of Doniphan, Mo.; 1 sister, Sammilyn Robertson of Cameron, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding her death were her parents, Clayton Monro Robertson and Eunice Jewel Buchanann; one sister Bettijean Robertson Barton; and 2 brothers, Clayton Henry Robertson, and Bernum Monroe Robertson.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Caldwell Chapel in Jonesboro, Ar., with Bill Caldwell officiating.

Kathleen Ann Sellers

Kathleen Ann Sellers, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Sellers was born February 19, 1948 in St. Louis, Mo.  She enjoyed crafts, gardening and swimming.

Survivors include her children, Lana K. Gleghorn and husband, Tracy, Connie L. McMeans and husband, Greg, Lorra G. McPherson and husband, Jeff, and James Ray Hanner Jr. and Derek; six grandchildren, Jessica McPherson, Kristin McPherson, Samantha McMeans, John James Gleghorn, Trey Gleghorn and Tyler McMeans; as well as three great-grandchildren, Carlee, Gannon and Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hanlon Edward Olson and Helen Silvia Simpson; the father of her children, James Ray Hanner Sr., and husbands, Gerald Wayne Sellers and  Danny Tinnell.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Brian Sharp officiating.  Burial will be held in the Bailey Chapel Cemetery in Alton, Mo., with David Case officiating at the graveside.

Carol Sue Cornman

Carol Sue Cornman, 75, of Doniphan, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 12, 1940, in Olney, Ill., to the late Robert B Worstell and Anna Lola (Maxwell) Worstell.  She enjoyed playing pool, dancing, Facebook, crafts and reading.  She was a member of the VFW 3485 Ladies Auxiliary in Doniphan.

She was married to Don Cornman, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Leno and two brothers, William Worstell and James Worstell, as well as one sister-in-law, Lois Worstell.

Also preceding her in death, a brother, Robert Worstell.

No services are scheduled.

Jerry Ethridge

Jerry Dean Ethridge, 68, of Williamsville, Mo., died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ethridge was born November 25, 1946, in Poplar Bluff.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a retired contractor and enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball.

Survivors include his children, Shelly Brown and husband, Dale and Jered Ethridge; 2 grandchildren, Lanie and Mackenzie Osborn; a sister, Donna Bacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eunice Ethridge and a brother, Jack Ethridge.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at noon, with Ron Fowler officiating.  Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Williamsville, Mo.

Roy E. Bostic

Roy Eugene Bostic, 63, of Dexter, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Roy was born June 27, 1952, in Fisk, Mo., to the late Leroy Bostic and Eva Bostic. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps and retired from Triangle PWC, in Sikeston, Mo. He enjoyed deer hunting, camping, fishing, and going to flea markets.

On October 23, 1971, he married  Margie (Moore) Bostic, in Poplar Bluff.   They were married 44 years. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Angie Schmidt; two grandchildren, Haley Schmidt and Kyle Schmidt all of Hutto, Tx.; one sister, Janie E. White; two brothers, Jackson L. Bostic and Norman Bostic, all of Poplar Bluff; as well as nieces, nephews and dear family and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Linda Williams, Cathy Bostic and Phyllis Wells.

Visitation will be 11a.m.- 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. A Graveside service with full military honors will follow at 2p.m. at the Mo. State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Chaplain Bill Hatch officiating.

Mary Frances Toombs

Mary Frances Toombs, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Mark Twain Caring Center.

Mrs. Toombs was born December 7, 1925, in Plataka, Ark., to the late John J. and Effie Rose Alexander.  She was a member to the Episcopal Church of Holy Cross in Poplar Bluff.  She retired from H.W. Gossard Garment Factory in Poplar Bluff and enjoyed sewing, crochet, canning and visiting with family.

She was married to Olen Roy Toombs July 17, 1946.  He preceded her in death November 25, 1977. She had previously married Peter J. Davi August 11, 1944.  He preceded her in death October 17, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Carla Aldridge (Earve Jr.),Barbara Davis, Wayne Glen Toombs, Norma Easter, Timothy Toombs (Kimberley), Rose Mary Wallace (Kevin), George Toombs, Teresa Toombs and Sally Owens (Andrew); 35 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren as well as other loving family members, Barbara K. Heart and Pamela Clanahan.

Also preceding her in death include one sister, Elizabeth Cortney; five brothers, John H. Alexander, Joe Alexander, Joseph Alexander, Carl Alexander, and Gene Alexander.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Episcopal Church of Holy Cross, 420 N. Main Street, Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Annette Joseph officiating.  Burial will be in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of Holy Cross food pantry or the church.

Shirley Williams

Shirley Mae Williams, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.,  passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

She was born February 7, 1950 in Poplar Bluff.   She was a member of Mt. Sinai Church.  She enjoyed cooking, computers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was previously married to Isaac Graham who preceded her in death July 29, 1995.  Later she married Albert Williams who preceded her in death July 3, 2009.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie Moss, Samuel Charles Currington, Terry Graham (Bernadette) and Rodney Graham (Andrea); two sisters, Alice Moss and Erma Jean Jones; three brothers, Steve, Rodney and Ricky Currington; 11 grandchildren, Ricky Taylor, Trameka Matthews, Tavarez Mathews, Valeri Jean Cox, Zachery Cox, Jasmine Graham, Khalil Johnson, Aiyana Graham, Bobbie Joe Webb, Sarah Mae Webb, and Aaron Graham; as well as one great-grandchild, Kennedy Jean Cox.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Abe Currington and mother, Ruby Mae Joshua; two children, Camilla Renee Graham and Sharike Graham; two grandchildren, Vanessa Mae Cox and Terrance Moss Canton; and one sister, Geneva Earl.

Visitation will be held at 12 (noon) Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Church, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m in the church.  The Rev. Johnny Williams will officiate. Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Henry Hiles

Henry Leroy Hiles Sr. , 77, of Fairdealing, Mo. passed away at his home Friday, July 10, 2015. He was born on March 27, 1939 in St Louis, Missouri to the late George Hiles and Alice (Hogan) Hiles.

He worked as a dock hand on the boat ‘Arch Daniel Midland’ and he loved to travel. Henry was married to his wife; Sandra Hiles on May 25, 1992 in Poplar Bluff and she survives. He is also survived by his children; Henry Hiles Jr. , George Hiles, Donnie Hiles and also his step-children; Bruce Todahl, Debra Todahl, Kenneth Todahl, and Brian Todahl and fourteen grandchildren and also nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, one sister; Georgeanna Hawkins and one brother; Gene Hogan.

No services are planned at this time. Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff are in charge of arrangements.
