Teddie Birdsong

Teddie Gene Birdsong, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the Westwood Hills Healthcare Facility in Poplar Bluff.

Teddie was born May 16, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, to Blake R. Birdsong and Mary L. (Timmons) Birdsong.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was an electrician by trade and loved to work. He enjoyed being with family and his pets.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri (Gowen) Birdsong; a daughter, Cindy Bartlett and sons, Robert Birdsong and Teddy Birdsong; three sisters, Allene Sweeza, Janis Birdsong, and Anita Birdsong; two brothers, Blake T. Birdsong and Russell Birdsong, as well as four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Stewart and Ruth Carl and a brother, Billy Birdsong.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  A graveside funeral service and interment will follow at 11 a.m. at the Black Creek Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating.

MaryAnn Kienast

MaryAnn Kienast, 69, of Dexter, Mo., formerly of Lawson, Mo., passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Home in Dexter, Mo.

Mrs. Kienast was born June 1, 1946, in Scottland, South Dakota, to the late William Max Claussen and Elizabeth Luby Claussen.  She was of the Assembly of God faith.  She was owner of Mary’s Flower And Bridal Shoppe and enjoyed scrapbooking and bowling.

On February 13, 1966, she married Allen Arthur Kienast in Summerfield, Ks.  He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Rhonda Smith (Roger) and Scotty Kienast (Marilyn); one sister, Judy Doyel; three brothers, Fritz, Edward and Hilton Claussen; four grandchildren, Denny and Daniel Smith and Mackinzie and Kayla Kienast.

A sister, Betty Claussen, also preceded her in death.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Mo. Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield. Mo. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Lawson Assembly of God Church in Lawson, Mo., with Rev. Bobby Morris officiating.

Christopher Charles Moore

Christopher Charles Moore, 44, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away September 22, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Moore was born February 23, 1971, in Virginia Beach, Va., to Charles Moore and Deborah Hicks-Whitmer. Both survive.

He is also survived by his step-father, Stanley Whitmer; two brothers, Shawn Freeman and Daniel Moore; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mr. Moore was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed running track and loved dogs. He previously owned three Meineke stores in Virginia.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Abel Moore Sr. and Sue Moore, and Ralph and Sue Hicks, and a brother, Charles Moore Jr.

A memorial visitation will begin at 1p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Edward Hicks II officiating.

Joan (Dobbs) Underwood

Joan (Dobbs) Underwood, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Underwood was born November 29, 1940 in Memphis, Tn.  She was a member of God’s Country Cowboy Church in Fredericktown, Mo., Rebekah Lodge #41 and Odd Fellows #179.

On April 21, 1956 she married Clyde Dobbs.  He preceded her in death September 12, 2002.  She later married Jessie Robert Underwood on August 26, 2009.  He survives.

Also surviving are 9 children, Clyde Dobbs Jr., William Dobbs, Dianne Arnold, Laura Dobbs, Thomas Dobbs, Joe Dobbs, Michael Dobbs, Melissa Rush and Mark Dobbs; 2 stepchildren, Kelvin Underwood and Maria Gang; one sister, Barbara England; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph C. Allen and Daisy Hefner and a son, Kevin Dobbs.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at Three Springs Cemetery with Rev. Steve Frances officiating.  A memorial gathering will follow at the Agee Fellowship Church on W Hwy.

Melvin “Bud” McIntosh

Melvin “Bud” McIntosh, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McIntosh was born on September 23, 1937 in Poplar Bluff to the late Aubrey and Lillie McIntosh. He was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff.

Mr. McIntosh served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed fishing and having coffee with his buddies.

On June 15, 1963 he married to Dorothy (Waters) McIntosh, in Fairdealing, Mo.  She preceded him in death on June 23, 2000.

He is survived by his children, one son, Royce Booth (Gaye) and two daughters, Belinda Rogers, and Tracy Ward (George).  Also surviving are two sisters, Joann Frame and Carolyn Mohr; one brother, Raymond McIntosh, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife, Dorothy; one grandchild, Amanda Ward and son-in-law, Greg Rogers.

Visitation will begin at 6p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015 in the chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.

Samuel David Mays

Samuel David Mays, 53, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mays was born April 18, 1962 in Chicago, Ill.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He worked as a construction iron worker. He enjoyed camping, barbecues and going to auctions.

Survivors include his father, James Mays and step-mother, Mary Helen Mays; two sisters, Laurinda Parker and husband, Frank of Deland, Fl. and Vicky Mays of Peoria, Ill.; one brother, Troy Mays; as well as a special friend, Tammy Meador, and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ann (Henry) Mays; a sister, Teresa Annelo and brother, Steven Mays.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Matt Stahlman officiating. Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Sam J. Leslie

Sam J. Leslie, 68, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the St Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Leslie was born on August 16, 1947, in Memphis, Tn., to the late Calvin and Cora (Sprayberry) Leslie.

He is survived by two brothers, James Leslie and wife Shirley, and Harry Leslie, and one sister, Lynette Shotts and husband, LD.

Mr Leslie will be laid to rest in the Mt. Olivete Cemetery in Zion Ill., Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11 a.m.

Junior Ray Ward

Junior Ray Ward, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Kokomo, Ind. passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ward was born April 4, 1932 in Conway, Ark., to the late Arville and Janie Ward. He was a member of New Home General Baptist Church.  He had served in the Army, during the Korean War and was a retired steel worker.  He previously served as a deacon at the First General Baptist Church in Kokomo, Ind. He enjoyed yard work, being a Camp Joy caretaker (for 5 years), church work and activities, and his children and grandchildren.

On October 2, 1954, he married Dora (Glover) Ward in Kennett, Mo.  She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Steven Ward (Alene), Donna Bralley (Jeff); one sister, Freda Nix and brother, James Ward (Ann); 3 grandchildren, Courtney Walsh (Jason), Heather Hose (David), and Steven Ray Ward; and a step-grandson, Christopher Bertolozzi; two great-grandchildren, Addie and Brynlee Walsh; as well as two step-great-grandchildren, Renee and Hunter Bertolozzi.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, Arville Ward and Janie (Penrod) Ward; a son, Jimmy Ray Ward; 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and an infant grandson.

Visitation will held from 6-8pm Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, in the chapel, with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will follow at the Mo. State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.

Charles Bridgewater

Charles Farrell Bridgewater, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., departed from this life Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Westwood Hills Nursing Facility surrounded by family.

Charles, son of the late Myrtle Hart, was born May 13, 1939 in Harviell, Mo. Mr. Bridgewater was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He proudly served in both active and reserve duty from 1959-1969 participating in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He earned a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Mr. Bridgewater was an avid car enthusiast. He worked for Ford Motor Company in St. Louis, served as Arbitrator at Poplar Bluff Auto Auction, and managed several car dealerships throughout Southeast Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors. He loved fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Charles married his eternal partner, Julia Sutherland, of St. Louis Mo., April 30, 1977. She passed away March 26, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle and sister, Bonnie Miller. Mr. Bridgewater is survived by his brother, Len Hart of Maryville, Ill., and three daughters, Crystal Harvey of West Alton, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Stacy, and Lisa Bridgewater, all of Poplar Bluff.  He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Lindsy Rae Harvey, Chase Taylor, Madalyn and Gracyn Bridgewater, and his puppy Jordan.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.   Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in the chapel, with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mo. Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. with full military rites.

Paula Irene Cozort

Paula Irene Cozort, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday September  4, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cozort was born on September 5, 1945 in Poplar Bluff to the late Medford and Ruby (Bradshaw) Bennett.

She was a retired nurses’ aide for Doctors Hospital and Lucy Lee Hospital.  She enjoyed working outdoors and riding horses.   She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and Eastern Star.

In 1965, she was united in marriage to Clifford W. Cozort, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Survivors include her brother, Leon Bennett and wife, Wanda; two sisters, Jerry Westerfield and Connie Johnston, as well as several  nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by a brother in-law, Reggie Westerfield.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m in

the City Cemetery with Rev.Steve Patterson officiating.
