James Damon Creach

James Damon Creach died in the line of service, doing what he loved, on November 9, 2015 in Amman, Jordan at the age of 42.

Damon is survived by his parents, Jerry and Sharon Creach of Neelyville, Mo; beloved wife, Heather; children, Taylor, Samantha, Jackson, & Jayedon. He has two sisters; Christy Petty and husband Paul of Neelyville, Mo, and Sherri Jennings and husband Cory of Cabot, AR. He also leaves behind 5 nieces and 1 nephew. He is preceded in death by Grandparents JB & Louise Stratton of Broseley, Mo, and Connie & Geraldine Creach of Neelyville, Mo, & Gene & Helen Baker of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Damon was born on March 19, 1973 in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Neelyville High School in 1991 and also from the Virginia Beach Police Department Academy in 2005. Damon and Heather met in Alaska, married in 2001 and settled in Virginia Beach and began raising a family. They moved to Tampa in 2011. During this time, Damon pursued a career in Law Enforcement with the Virginia PD eventually moving on to provide law enforcement training programs internationally. He touched many lives worldwide from his hometown in Missouri to Arkansas, Alaska, Virginia, Florida, Afghanistan, Kenya, Africa and most recently Jordan.

His family and friends will always remember him as someone who made everyone feel special and whose smile lit up any room. An amazing man with a zest for life, full of spirit and integrity, he was always pursuing a higher calling.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, MO. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday November 21, 2015 at 11:00am at Fellowship with burial following at Kinsey Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Damon’s life. Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Neelyville, MO 63954; (573) 989-4047 is handling local arrangements. A celebration of his life is being planned in New Tampa, Florida for a later date.

Dale Wells

Dale Roland Wells, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at his home.

Dale  was born June 14, 1932, in St. Louis County, to the late Goldie and Leah Wells.

Mr.  Wells was of the Baptist faith.  He was an installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T, for 31 years.  He was active in forming the Telephone Pioneers Museum and then did volunteer work with the Pioneers.  He also enjoyed time spent with his family and piddlin.

On May 18, 1958 he married Marie Bechel, in Miner, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are children Andy (Retta) Wells of Poplar Bluff, Martha (Steve) Pace of Campbell, Mo. and Tim (Amy) Wells of Lacey, Wa; a sister Dorothy Bock; 3 brothers James, Charles and David Wells; 4 grandchildren Randy Felts and fiancé Keely, Jeanie (Adam) Kiefer, Kenny (Shanda) Felts and Julie (Josh) Cannaday; 9 great-grandchildren; Madison, Spencer, Alexis, Keaton, Cayden, Makena, Parker, Owen and Beckett.  A special brother-in-law Jr McConnell and a special sister-in-law Betty McConnell.

Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Wells.

Visitation will begin at 11 a. m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the chapel, with Rev. John Crowley officiating.  Burial will follow in City Cemetery

Francis Cole

Francis Pauline Cole, 68, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cole was born August 3, 1947, in Taylor, Mo.  She attended Stringtown Pentecostal Church and Grace United Methodist Church.  She worked in housekeeping at Westwood Hills Healthcare. She loved animals, yard sales, reading, watching SyFy and was an Elvis fan.

On November 2, 1981 she married Samuel Richard Cole.  He preceded her in death December 13, 2006.  Previously she was married to Jimmie G. Davis, who preceded her in death.

Her parents, James Taylor Bruce and Ellen Mae (Hill) Alberson also preceded her in death, as well as three sisters, Velma Aydelotte, Jo Parnell and Christine Smith; and one brother, Fred Bruce.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee Stromatt (Tim) of Waldorf, Md.; two brothers, Doyle Bruce and Jimmy Bruce Jr., both of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren, Mistianna Stromatt and Zac Stromatt.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, in the chapel, with Rev. J.C. Bryant officiating.  Burial will take place in the Mo. State Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Mo.

Eddie’Mae Scott

Eddie’Mae Scott, 96, of Neelyville, Mo., passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Scott was born on Feb. 25, 1919 in Corning, Ar. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed reading, flower beds, her church and the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. She was a member of the United Methodist Women Organization for over 60 years as well as a member of the Eastern Star. She attended Neelyville United Methodist Church where she had previously taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a lifelong resident of Butler County.

On Aug. 24, 1941 she married Ray Scott in Corning, Ar. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include,  her son, Bill Scott & Angela of Neelyville, Mo.; 1 sister, Elizabeth Lampher of Tampa, FL.; 3 grandchildren, Bill Scott, Shannon Quarterman, Shammie Warren and Jen Stanley; 6 great-grandchildren, Anna Mae Scott, Avery Jordan Scott, Kristene Lynette Reynolds, Cody De’Wayne Reynolds, Gage and Jackson.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, William Wright and Ollie Mae; 3 sisters, Kathleen Smith, Caroline Hensley; Emiline Powell; and 1 brother, Darb Wright.

Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at Neelyville United Methodist Church with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Kent Wilfong will be officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.

Donnie Hornbeck

Donnie Ray  Hornbeck, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Mark Twain Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Hornbeck was born July 4, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, to Ransom and Rosetta Hornbeck.  Both precede him in death.  He was a member of Third Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.  He enjoyed hunting and gardening.  Donnie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He had worked as a school custodian and for Bunny Bread as a baker and loader.

On December 28, 1956 he married Betty Jane Hornbeck.  She preceded him in death December 16, 2013.

His daughter, Debra Trout, of Poplar Bluff survives; as well as one brother, Ralph Hornbeck of St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Hornbeck is also preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Whitley and Lula Bell Moore and 4 brothers, Ira, Carl, Jessie and Everett Hornbeck.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The Rev. Ralph Mayes and Rev. James Capps will officiate. Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.

Clara Howard

Clara Bell Howard, 76, of Fairdealing, Mo. died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Howard was born on April 12, 1939 in Fisk, Mo. She was a homemaker who loved her flowers,  pets, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Terry Lynn Bounds (Dale), Little Joseph Durham (Angie); sisters, Mary Sills, Roberta Weaver, Mary Henson; brothers, Walter E. Jackson, Earl E. Jackson, Denver E. Jackson; 1 grandchild, Monica Tillman (Bob); 2 great grandchildren, Gracie Tillman and Briley Tillman.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Rosetta; parents, John Little ad Truly Ethel Little; 1 sister, Annie Gulley; and 2 brothers, Lee Little and Everett Little.

Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the chapel with Rev. Ronnie Payne and Denver Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Center Hill Cemetery.

Jenice Putman

Jenice Putman, 70, of Doniphan died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Putman was born June 11, 1945 in Neelyville, Mo. She was a lifetime resident of Ripley County and enjoyed fishing, sewing, and loved her grandchildren. She retired from Vitronic and was of the Baptist faith.

On May 20, 1995 she married Raymond Putman in Oxly, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are children, Donnie Skiles and Jordan Ray Putman Skiles; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 1 niece, Brenda McComb.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Skiles, parents, James Luther Grimes and Gladys (Jenkins) Grimes; twin sisters, Bernice Cates and Elizabeth Dawes, as well as two other sisters, Ruth Kessler and Francis Murray; and 1 brother, Bud Grimes.

Visitation will be Wednesday  11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. A graveside services will follow at 1:15 p.m. at the Antioch Cemetery in Oxly with Donnie Fowler officiating.

Jesse Chaffin

Jesse C. Chaffin, 57, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Chaffin was born to Jesse C. and Wanda Louise Chaffin February 1, 1958 in Poe Clinic, Mo. He had worked in construction and carpet sales for Dennis Young.  He enjoyed flying, fishing, collecting arrowheads, flea marketing, yard-work and working in the garage.

On July 4, 1999 he married Amanda (Dietz) Chaffin in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include children, Jesse B. Chaffin, Jennifer Duckett, Amber Harwell and Stephanie DeClue; his sister, Sharon Brady; 12 grandchildren, Jessie C. Chaffin, Jessaleigh Chaffin, Billie, Maddison, and Devon Hussman, Elliott Guzman, Kaitlyn LaChance, Spencer and Gracie Harwell, Kerstein, Jocelyn and Adeline DeClue.

He was a loving husband.  He raised a son and three daughters, and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015, in the chapel, with Rev. John Sprouse officiating.  Burial will follow in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Ruth Morgan

Ruth William Morgan, 97, of Sandoval, IL., passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015.

Mrs. Morgan was born April 15, 1918 in Neelyville, Mo. She worked as a caregiver in nursing. Her hobbies included quilting, fishing, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of the Naylor Pentecostal Church until her health prevented her attendance.

On June 17, 1935 she married Samuel Morgan in Neelyville, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1994.

Survivors include, her children, Glenn Morgan of Jefferson City, Mo., Lavern Sloat and husband Jack of Junction City, IL., Connie Gramlick and husband Dean of Bloomfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 23 great- great- grandchildren.

Besides her husband also preceding her in death are her son James Morgan; parents, Frank William Tucker and Cordia Alice Tucker; sisters Juanita Tucker Hancock, Thelma Tucker Crenshaw, Ruby Tucker Eye(her twin), Beatrice Tucker Inness; brothers, Russell Cosby and Cecil Cosby; one grandchild, Cynthia Sloat and one great –great- grandchild Maverick Pratt

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday Nov. 5, 2015 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville and funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Ron Fowler will be officiating and burial will take place in Hvam Cemetery.

Wesley Leroy Gambling

Wesley Leroy Gambling, 77, of Doniphan, Mo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Gambling was born March 30, 1938 at Bardley, Missouri to Emmett and Christine (McCallister) Gambling.

On April 13, 1957 at Ellsinore, Mo, he married Lynda Tucker . She survives

Also surviving are his children, Suzy Fowler and husband Donnie of Naylor, Terry James ad husband Leroy, Tracy Shostrand and husband Jerry and, Tina Norris all of Doniphan, Karen Phillips and husband Bill of Lincoln, NC., , Joe Gambling and wife Ladonna of Sedalia, Mo., Andy Gambling, Mike Gambling , and Paul Gambling all of Doniphan. His mother Christine Gambling of Doniphan, Mo. 13 grandchildren, Greg, Josh, Melissa, Kevin, Ashley, Adam, Christopher, Timothy, Joseph, Mathew, Jamie, Jennifer and Keith; and 19 great grandchildren, and 4 sisters, Jewell Percy of Doniphan, Agnes Labine of Poplar Bluff, Shirley Collier of Zennith, Mo and Patricia Gambling of Cocoa, Florida 7 brothers, Roy Gambling and Bobby Gambling both of Doniphan, John Henry Gambling of Collinsville, Okla. , David Gambling of Chelsea Okla., Billy Gambling of Foil, Okla. , Larry Gambling of Fairdealing, Mo and Raymond gambling of Tampa, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father, two grandsons, Justin Tyler Norris and Donald Craig Fowler as well as his brother, Lloyd Ray Gambling and Thomas Wayne Gambling.

He attended the Naylor Pentecost Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and his family.

Visitation will be Wed. November 4, 2015 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, with the funeral on Thursday November 5, 2015 at the Naylor Pentecost Church in Naylor starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Doniphan with Donnie Fowler Officiating assisted by Greg Fowler
