Rosebud Peters

Rosebud Marie Peters, 91, of Oxly, Mo. passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

She was born June 27, 1925, in Hammond, In., to the late Alfred Kayes and Marie (Hilfaker) Kayes.   Rosebud was a member of United Methodist Church in Doniphan. She enjoyed writing poetry and she loved everyone.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William J. Uher and later by her second husband, Chester Peters.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Marie Heinrich and three sons, William Charles Uher, David Mark Uher, and Neil Frederick Uher; as well as six grandchildren, Julie Chandler, Matthew Cooke, Kelly Wilkinson, Neil Uher II, Brian Uher-Koch and Hannah Uher-Koch.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan, with the Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating.

Kendall Lynn Purser

Kendall Lynn Purser, 71, of New Madrid, Missouri passed away, November 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1945 to the late Dixie Purser and Bessie Louise Gross Purser Cardell.  One July 20, 1987 at New Madrid, Missouri he was married to Christine Cross. She survives.

Also surviving are; three daughters; Leah, Laura, and Missy, five sisters; Sarah Ann Skinner, Jane Skinner,  Mary Tanner, Jean Lovelett and Ella Eloise Clayton one brother; Vernon Purser. He is preceded in death by one son; David Lynn Purser and one sister, Stella; three brothers; Mervin, Sam and Charles Lindsey Purser.

He was a member of the Riverbend First Pentecostal Church of New Madrid, Missouri. He also served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Visitation for Mr. Purser will be Monday November 28, 2016 at the River Bend Pentecostal Church of New Madrid, Missouri starting at 10:00 a.m with the service at 12:00 p.m. at the church Monday November 28, 2016.

Doyle Wayne Switzer

Doyle Wayne Switzer, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away November 25, 2016 at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Switzer was born September 2, 1937 in Doniphan, Mo., to the late Delbert Switzer and Nettie Switzer. He enjoyed to read.

On November 2, 1963 he married Veda Switzer.  She preceded him in death in 2008.

Mr. Switzer is survived by sisters, Vennie Biekert, Evelyn Wills, Elsie Carter and Lee Groves; a daughter-in-law, Dee Brooks; one granddaughter, Shanna Luke, as well as one great-grandchild, Mercedys Waite.

Mr. Switzer was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Dewayne and David Brooks; a brother, Emery Switzer and two sisters, Lorene Yawney and Ylonda Barks.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Keith Luke officiating.  Burial will be in Ash Hill Cemetery near Fisk, Mo.

Lillie Mae Snodgrass

Lillie Mae Snodgrass, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away November 24, 2016 at Mark Twain Caring Center.

Mrs. Snodgrass was born May 31, 1928 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Daniel and Kati Douglas.  A homemaker, she enjoyed dancing and was a lifetime member of the Eagles in Poplar Bluff.

She married Elvin Snodgrass in 1983.  He passed away December 25, 2007.

Mrs. Snodgrass is survived by children, Gary Melton (Debbie), Deanna Morse (James), Donna Melton (John Conner); a brother CB Douglas; grandchildren, Jimmy Morse, Melissa Francis, Brandi Durbin, Ryan Melton, Logan Melton, Austin Melton; great- grandchildren, Dustin Morse, Hillary Morse, Brianna Kelly, Kaitlyn, Durbin, Kylie Francis, and Jaden Francis and a great-great-grandson, Abram Kelly.

Mrs. Snodgrass was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Greg Melton; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

A private family burial will take place Monday, November 28, 2016 in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

William Keith Baker

William Keith Baker, 71, of Qulin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Baker was born December 28, 1944, in Qulin, to the late Artie and Daisy (Newby) Baker.  He served in the  U.S. Army from 1965-1967 as a marksman.  A former machine operator, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.  He also served as deacon at Elk General Baptist Church.

On April 20, 1968 he married Beverly (Cooley) Baker in Broseley, Mo.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Brian Baker (Tracy), Kelly Rhody (Dewayne), Susan Diaz (Mark), Lisa Kendle and Keith Brandt (Linda); two sisters, Maxine Taylor and Geraldine Watson; 10 grandchildren, Brooke Baker, Whitney, Dallas, and Jackie Rhody, Dakota and Montana Kendle, Aiden Diaz, Lindsey, Ryan and Tori Theole.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016, in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Johnny Meese officiating.  Mr. Baker will be laid to rest in the Brown Chapel Cemetery, Broseley, Mo., with full military honors.

Charlotte Ann Barnes

Tuesday, November 15th, 2016

Charlotte Ann Barnes, 54, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Barnes was born November 19, 1961, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Rayburn and Elnora (Sales) Barnes.  She enjoyed animals, horseback riding, and fishing.

She is survived by her long time companion, Jerry Fleener Sr.; her sons, Rusty Ray Swasho (Crystal Minks) and Jerry Lee Fleener Jr.; a sister, Teena Boyer; two brothers, Daniel Frost and Scotty Barnes; grandchildren, Hunter Ray Swasho and Timothy Lee Swafford.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Cameron Lee Swasho.

Visitation will begin at 12 pm Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will follow at 1pm in the chapel with Rev. Rowdy Boyer officiating.  Burial will be held in Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.

Richard L. Anderson

Richard Lane Anderson was called home Sunday, November 13, 2016 to be with the Lord at the age of 57.

He was born February 7, 1959 in Marceline, Mo. to the late Elzia and Naomi (Teeters) Anderson.

A former resident of Illinois, Richard had lived in Poplar Bluff, Mo. for six years. He was a former truck driver and enjoyed tending horses, dogs, playing darts, hunting, and fishing. He was a Sgt. E-5 in the United States Army where he was trained in military combat, a member of LRRPS team, military police, military intelligence and a trained sniper. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing his military experiences.  He was a member of Poplar Bluff Newman Dart League and Ripley County Wagon Train and Trail Ride Association.

On May 27, 2006 he married Jennifer J. Anderson in Downs, IL.  She survives.

Also surviving are children, Nicholas Richard and Reginald John; 5 sisters, Ann Dennis of Olathe, Ks., Dorothy Musick of Fisk, Mo., Donna Earles of DesMoines, Ia., Linda Tomlinson of Brookfield, Mo., and Judy Corbin of Columbia, Mo.; 4 brothers, Chuck Anderson of Bucklin, Mo., Larry Anderson of Marceline, Mo., Wayne Anderson of Olathe, Ks., and David Anderson of Booneville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as one brother, Jim Anderson who lived in Linneus, Mo., infant sister, Helen Louise Anderson and sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson who lived in Bucklin, Mo.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Pastor Donna Ewert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to veterans will be accepted.

Brian L. Stone

Brian L. Stone, 38, of Doniphan, Mo., died Thurs., Nov. 3, 2016 in Doniphan. Mr. Stone was born Sept. 9, 1978 in Dexter, Mo. He was a self-employed landscaper. On Dec. 22, 2012 he married Julie Faughn in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Mr. Stone was a member of the Naylor Masonic Lodge #568 and enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, fishing and canoeing.

Survivors include his wife; Julie, children; Brooklyn, Brian, Kylie, Taylor, David, Madisyn, Moriah, Trever, and Alisha Stone, Connor and Lexi Bell; parents, Dean and Peggy Stone of Fairdealing, Mo.; sisters, Melissa Stone and Brandi Johnson and husband Joe, and grandmother, Pearline Stone of Doniphan. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his grandparents; O’Dean Stone and Ed and Mary Wilkerson.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m., Wed. Nov. 9 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Arlin West and Rev. Tom Arnold officiating. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell, Mo.

Robert Lee Cooley

Robert Lee Cooley, 89, of Doniphan, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1927 in Locust Grove, Arkansas to the late George Washington Watt Cooley and Tennie “Lofton” Cooley.

On November 18, 1944 at New Madrid, Missouri He was married to Mary Christine Smith. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2015.

He is survived by his children; Gail Turner and husband Rich of Protem, Missouri; Larry Cooley of Cahokia, Illinois; Patricia Meadors and husband Guy of Doniphan, Missouri; Mary Williams of Baldwin, Illinois; Kathleen Kerperien and husband Gary Baldwin, Illinois ; David Cooley of Desoto, Missouri;  Doyle Cooley and wife Joann of O’Fallon, Illinois’ Ralph Cooley, of Columbia, Illinois; and Donnie Cooley of Freeburg, Illinois, One brother; James Cooley of Brighton, Illinois. He is survived by 111 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife and parents as well as a son; Robert W. Cooley; a brother Jimmy D. Cooley and two sisters; Annie Dunn and Hattie Taber as well as two grandchildren Wesley Jay Meadors and Gary Anthony “Tony” Kerperien.

He was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church of Doniphan, Missouri and had retired from as a maintance worker for Carter Carburetor. He enjoyed fishing,  horse racing and his church New Life Pentecostal Church where he was a faithful member.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 5, 2016 with the funeral following at 1:00pm. All services will be at the New Life Pentecostal Church on Brooks Lane of Doniphan, Missouri. Pastor Harold Sheppard officiating with the Burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Doniphan, Missouri.
