Elinore Lyons

Elinore Lyons, 78 of Poplar Bluff passed away August 30, 2017 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.  Mrs. Lyons was born February 10, 1939 in Poplar Bluff, MO to the late Junie Carl and Elsie (Frederickson) Carl.

Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, crafts and bingo. She was married to Francis Lyons and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children; Mark Fluharty, Raymond Fluharty, Kevin Fluharty, Rose Mooneyhan and Cheryl Littrell; brothers; Steve, David, Jerry and Bob Carl; sisters; Elsie Frederickson and Leslie Frederickson; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by a son; Michael Fluharty,  her parents; Junie and Elsie Carl, brother; George Carl and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 11am Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 12pm Sunday with Earl Hagy officiating.  Burial will follow in Duley Cemetery off T Hwy

Keith Eugene Rosson Sr.

Keith Eugene Rosson Sr. 62, of Poplar Bluff passed away Wednesday, August 30,2017 at his home.  Mr. Rosson was born February 7,1955 in Kansas City, MO

Mr. Rosson was the former pastor of Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ.  He served in the United States Army from 1972-1973.

On August 14, 1976 he married Deloris (Barks) Rosson, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.  Also surviving are children; Angel Dawn Christy, Shannon Hobbs, Keith Rosson Jr., Angel Lynn Rosson, and BJ Rosson, parents;  JW and Pat Green, brothers; Jay Green, Chuck Steven, and CJ Green; sisters; Loretta Stine, Pam Jackson and Peggy Steven; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be held at 12pm  Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield MO with Ron Fowler officiating.

David Rush Jr.

David Hilton Rush Jr., of Poplar Bluff, MO departed this life August 23, 2017 at the age of 77, at his home surrounded by family.
David was born to the late David and Dorothy Rush, in Butler County, Missouri. David enjoyed having family close, gardening, and vacationing in Florida. David was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the First United Pentecostal Church of Wappapello.
David was blessed with three sons and one daughter, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He married his best friend and companion, Patricia Counts February 7th, 1958 in Palatka, AR. They were married 59 years. David helped raise his four children with fatherly love. He loved being with family, playing pool with his family and loved any moment that everyone could be together.
David was always available to family and friends. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how big or small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with the Lord Jesus Christ.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children David H. Rush III, his wife, Darla of Poplar Bluff; Pamela Lewellen, of Haines City, FL; John L. Rush and his wife, Becky, of Poplar Bluff; and Paul A. Rush and his wife, Rebecca Rush, of Poplar Bluff, MO; his brother, Ronald Rush; fifteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie Finazzo; his parents, David H. Rush Sr. and Dorothy Rush.
A visitation will take place on August 25th at 6:00 P. M. and funeral service on August 26th at 1:00 PM  funeral services will be at the Fowler Sullivan Funeral, located at Ninth and Cedar streets in Poplar Bluff, MO. David will be buried at the Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, MO. Rev. Michael Lowen of the First United Pentecostal church will be officiating the services.

Mary Turner

Mary Evelyn Turner, 70, of Doniphan, Mo., passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mary was born on March 2, 1947 in Biggers, Ark. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include one sister, Sharon Sanders of Springfield, Mo.; 2 brothers, Ronnie Turner of Fairdealing, Mo., Roger Turner of Neelyville, Mo.; 2 grandsons, Matt and Eric; as well as her best friend Dolly Boswell.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Paul Turner; parents, Dale and Mary Turner; and one sister, Christine Gardner

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 11-1 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Mo. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will take place at Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

Clyde Davis

Clyde Davis, 73, of Poplar Bluff passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born May 2, 1944 in Poplar Bluff, to the late George and Lillian May (Koonce) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a mechanic.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed his family, fishing and mechanics.

On May 2, 1964 he married Gale (Robertson) in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.  Also surviving are children: Teresa Davis (Mustapha Driouche), Tony Wayne Davis( Sherry), Harold Lee Davis(Stephanie), sister: Ruth Whitmer, five brothers: Stanley Davis, Kenny Davis, John Davis, Dennis Ray Davis, Charlie Paul Davis, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation Wednesday, August 23, 2017 5-6pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at 6pm in the chapel with Rev. Bill Orr officiating. Services will then conclude at the funeral home.

Annie Marie McCormick

Annie McCormick, 93, of Poplar Bluff passed away August 15, 2017 at Oakdale Care Center.  Mrs. McCormick was born January 30, 1924.

Mrs. McCormick is survived by one son; Jerry McCormick, of Florence, S. C. and a special niece; Barbara McCormick of Poplar Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. McCormick and one son; “Chuck” McCormick, in 2013.

A graveside service was held Saturday, August 19th at the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie MO

Cynthia Clara Ogles

Cynthia Clara Ogles, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Mo, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2017 in Puxico, Mo. She was born December 26, 1958 in Doniphan, Mo. to the late William Richardson and Kathy Kelly Richardson.  She was a 2011 graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Chef School, with expertise in pastries.    She was a member of Life Chapel Assembly in Puxico, Mo. She loved cooking, crafts, sewing, working in the church and being with her family.  She had worked in the cafeteria at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Hospital, making pastries.

She is survived by her children, Stepheny Duke(Bobby); of Calhown, MS, James Metcalf and partner Patrick; of St. Louis, Mo. and Amanda Estelle; of Puxico, Mo. Three brothers William Richardson (Deb); of Afton, Iowa. Robert Richardson;of Airapeaka, Fl. and Gregory Hodge; of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Five grandchildren; Justin Golden, Jeremy Goldren,  Xander Estelle, Christian Estelle, and Nicholas Estelle. One great grandchild Angel Faughn, Her mother Kathryn Moore, and step-father Clyde Moore of Hernando Beach, Fl. and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her father, William Richardson; a brother Anthony Richardson; and a granddaughter, Kari Mitchell.

A memorial visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at Fowler – Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff with Rev. Chuck Clark officiating. A private family interment will be in Mill Springs, Mo. at a later date.

Stephen James Blalock

Stephen James ” Jamie ” Blalock, 51, of Poplar Bluff passed away Friday Aug.11, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St.Louis, surrounded by his entire family,after an illness of eight months.

Jamie was born Aug. 27, 1965, in Memphis Tn. to Leslie and Connie Simmons Blalock. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1983.  When he was 16, he and Regina Dawn Smith met at Lake Wappapello and fell for each other at first sight.  They were married Nov. 2, 1985, in Poplar Bluff.

Following in his fathers footsteps, Jamie spent his career working in the heating and cooling and appliance repair business, most recently operating Appliance Parts Central. He was known both in his business dealings and in community involvement for his honesty, dedication, fairness and easygoing nature. Jamie accepted Jesus as his Savior in May and was a member of Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center.

Hunting and fishing were his favorite activities through the years, along with watching Cardinals baseball, football games and NASCAR races. He loved spending time with family and friends, and the Blalock home was a frequent gathering place on many an evening or weekend. He enjoyed close lifelong friendships with his” brothers” from other mothers,” often referred to as the  Old Flame Gang, Lyndell Coleman, Tracy Stewart, Scott Stephens, John Sloan and Paul Babcock. But nothing gave him more pleasure than the birth of his son 13 years ago, the bond they shared and the fun they enjoyed together. Jamie is survived by his wife, Gina: his son Stephen Alexander “Alex” Blalock; his mother and stepfather,Connie and Bill Marler of Poplar Bluff; his mother-in-law Juanita Smith of Poplar Bluff; two brothers Robbie (Rachel) Blalock of Poplar Bluff, and Howard “Champ” (Laura) Blalock of Dodgeville,Wisc; a sister,Cathy (Mitch) Wood of Lakeland Tn.; brother-in-law, Scott (Shirlena) Smith of Poplar Bluff; seven nieces and nephews, and two great-nephews, He was preceded in death by his father and his father-in-law Robert W.Smith.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral officiated by the Rev. Jerry Williams,will follow at noon Wednesday,with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ronnie Jay Thomas

Ronnie Jay Thomas, son of Thelma Walker and the late Willie Grant, was born January 15, 1960, in Poplar Bluff.  He passed away at 9:55am Friday, August 4th at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.

Mr. Thomas worked at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He enjoyed his family, friends, watching sports and reading westerns.

He is survived by his mother; Thelma (Walker)  Thomas, sisters; Jo Hale (John), Shirley Harley, Edna Young, Kathy Thomas, Jacquelyn Jackson, Carolyn Thomas, and Debra Wilkerson (James), brothers; Howard Brown and Kenny Thomas

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Willie Grant, and brother-in-law; Robert Young.

Visitation is at 11am Friday,  August 11th at the Loving Jesus Ministries Church 2663 Thomas St. Poplar Bluff, MO.  The funeral service will follow at 12pm with Kenny Thomas officiating.  Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Bloomfield, MO.

Joe Lee Woolard

Joe Lee Woolard, 84, of Naylor, MO., passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Woolard was born on December 15, 1932 in Naylor, Mo. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and his boat. He was also a member of the Naylor Church of Christ where he served as treasurer.

On May 7, 1953 Joe married Zuna White in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Don Woolard and wife Alice of Neelyville, Gary Woolard and wife Alisa of Naylor; sister-in-laws, Betty Woolard of Grand Junction, CO., Genevive Porter of Naylor, Mo. and Emmie Deterding of St. Louis, Mo.; special niece, Linda; special nephew, Glen; grandchildren, Brian, Nick, Whitney, Floyd, Colton, Kathryn, Matt and Rachel Eubanks, Jason and Callie Tidwell, Brier Mullins and Pat and Matt Ryan.; as well as several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. Pete Woolard and Mildred Pauline Camp Woolard; sisters, Lillian Clark and Imogene Gilliland; brother, Harold Ray Woolard and brother-in-law, Phillip Gilliland, and one granddaughter; Jill Tidwell.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan-Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Chapel with Rick Holden officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
