Brenda Kay Blurton

Brenda Kay Blurton, 65 of Poplar Bluff departed this life on September 27, 2018 at her residence. She was born on January 23, 1953 in Dexter, Mo. to the late Edward and Helen Reed. On  September 22, 1979 she was married to Jimmy Blurton in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2017.

She was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church. She loved watching her grandchildren, being outdoors, and shopping.   Surviving are her children, Danny Russom and wife Debbie, Wanda Eastwood and husband Mark, Pam Willis and husband Tim, Sarah  and Guy Ray, Timmy Blurton. Several grand and great -grandchildren , one sister Pat Moman, several nieces and nephews, special nieces Debbbie Russom, Jeannie Wlodarcik a special nephew Devin Russom.

Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two sisters,  Joann Whoberry, Norma Reed, by two brothers, Robert and Ronald Reed.

Visitation will be on Wednesday October 3 , 2018 beginning at 2 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officating burial will follow in the Old Oak Hill Cemetery.

Shaquala Dudley

Shaquala Romance Dudley, 26, of Saint Louis, passed away September 21, 2018 at the Benchmark Care Facility in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born on January 14, 1992 in Poplar Bluff, MO. She enjoyed singing. She was disabled all her life.

Shaquala is survived by her father William Lewis, mother, Rhonda Dudley,two sisters, Jasmine Holloway, Teeaira Dudley; four brothers, Shakeal Dudley, Dimitri Dudley, Jordan Holloway, Jaekwon Holloway; .

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 10:00 am at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO.

GRAVESIDE funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 11:00 am at City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Donald Ray Malpass

Donald “Ray” Malpass, son of the late Emry Malpass and Edna Malpass-Spratley, was born on February 3, 1953 in Raleigh, North Carolina and departed this life on Monday September 24, 2018 at his residence in Poplar Bluff, MO at the age of 65.

Mr. Malpass was a Route Courier for the Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Poplar Bluff, Jaycee’s and attended church at Calvary Baptist. He enjoyed spending time working on cars, riding motorcycles and building boat trailers.

Mr. Malpass is survived by 6 children. Christine Laswell and her husband Kenneth of Florida. Jack Evans of Missouri, Connie Evans of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gerald Evans of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Donald Malpass-Fenton Jr. of Texas and Brian Malpass-Fenton of Texas; by 6 grandchildren, Chriscella Mariscal and Cora Amado both of Perryton, Texas, Cecelia Meyer and Mark Hicks Jr. both of Poplar, Bluff, Missouri, Kenny Laswell and Candice Wideman both of St. Louis, Missouri; and by many grandchildren; Emmali, Gabriella, and Annali Mariscal, Isabella, Nevaeh and Ximena Amado, Natalie Meyer, Chase Hicks, Alexis, Bratonya and Haley.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Kimberly Crowell, only brother, Michael Malpass. One son, Stephen Thacker, his Grandmother, and many Aunts and Uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Monday October 1, 2018 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO

James “Eddie” Ikenberry

Mr. Ikenberry passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Cedargate Nursing Facility in Poplar Bluff.   

Visitation will begin at 10am Wednesday, September, 26, 2018 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St.    The funeral service will begin at 11am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Lemons officiating.  He will then be taken to Pawhuska, Oklahoma for burial.

Jerry Johnson

Jerry Johnson ,  70  of Grandin departed this life on September 20, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born on May 14, 1948 in Poplar Bluff to the late Fielen and Viriginia (Medley) Johnson. On November 5, 1986 he was united in marriage to Joann Johnson she survives. 

He loved fishing, and was a member of the Stringtown Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for several years. He was a veteran in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a riverboat engineer.

Besides his wife he is survived by his step-children Mark Falkoff,   Jonette Pruett,  David Falkoff  and Andrea. One sister Kathy Johnson, Two brothers Jimmy Johnson, Jack Johnson,  Fourteen step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Julie Russell, Janie Smith,  Pansey Spencer,  by one brother George Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday September 24, 2018 from 6 till 8 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at 2 pm in the Stringtown Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Vester officating.

Burial will follow in the Kerns Chapel Cemetery at Stringtown.

Betty Joanne Davison

Betty Joanne Davison, 78, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on September 17, 2018 at her home

She was born on June 30, 1940 to Lane and Carrie Beckham at Qulin, MO. On July 16, 2018 she married Frank Everett Gunter at Leasburg, MO.

She attended Poplar Bluff Full Gospel Fellowship Church. She enjoyed selling organic herbs.

Betty is survived by her loving spouse Frank Everett Gunter , two sons, Mike Duty, and Randall Duty; Daughter, Karen Eder; Two Brothers, Gary Beckham, Carl Beckham; Sister, Ellen Batson; .

She was preceded in death by her parents and a Son, Ernie Lee Duty.

There will be a memorial service at a later date at Poplar Bluff Full Gospel Fellowship Church.

Patricia Lorene Swan

Patricia Lorene Swan, 64 of Poplar Bluff passed away Sept. 8, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.  

Mrs. Swan was born Nov. 17, 1953 in St. Louis, Mo. to Henry and Lois Johnson.  She was an industrial employee and a cook at Northside Nutrition Center in Poplar Bluff.  She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff.  Her hobbies were being with her children and grandchildren.  

She was married to her life long friend and husband, Marc Swan who survives.  Also surviving are children; Shannon(Travis) Abbott, William “W C’ Lea (Cheryl), sisters; Dianne Mitchell, JoAnn Smith, and Charlotte Stinchcomb, brothers; Henry Johnson and Charles Johnson, grandchildren; Lesley, Curtis, Alexis, Hailey, Sky, Cadence, Avery, Lilly Ann, Lizzy, Gabby, Brianna, and Logan.  

Mrs. Swan was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 12, 2018 11-1 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral will follow at 1pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bud Goins officiating.

Sandra Ann Scott

Sandra Ann Scott, 57 of Poplar Bluff, passed away on September 2, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born on July 24, 1961 to Sam and Jean (Ketchum) Mansfield at St.Louis, Mo. In 1984, she married Keith in Poplar Bluff To this union was born a son Eric  Scott. She liked to crochet and play board games.

Sandra is survived by her husband Keith, Son, Eric Scott (Reanna); parents; Sam and Jean Mansfield; Two brothers, Terry Mansfield (Lynette), Chris Mansfield (Vicky); Sister, Robin Knuckles (Tommy).

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018, 1:00 pm- 1:40 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff Mo.

GRAVESIDE services will held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Black  Creek Cemetery.
