Sibyl Jennifer Gunn-Baber

Sibyl Jennifer Gunn-Baber 56 of Gary Indiana departed life on Tuesday Nov.6, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau Mo. Sibyl was born June 19, 1962 in Gary Indiana. In 1984 she married Arnold Baber Sr. of Covert Michigan where she resided for over ten years.

In 1996 Sibyl relocated to Poplar Bluff Mo. where she resided until her untimely homecoming. She practiced the Methodist Faith and enjoyed many things such as reading,watching classic television,cooking and socializing with friends and family.

Sibyl was friendly,funny outgoing and a hard -worker. She dedicated a signficant amount of her time caring for others and enjoying life.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving life partner Bobby Warren of Poplar Bluff Mo. mother Hilda Turner and father James Turner of Gary Indiana. Two brothers Garrick Turner and Justin Turner of Gary Indiana, one daughter April Gunn-Palmore of Westerville Ohio, two sons Arnold Baber Jr. of Kalamazoo Michigan, Jerrod Baber of Detroit Michigan. Beloved Son-In law Da’Juan Palmore of Westerville Ohio, Daughter-In Law Trivenna  Johnson- Baber .Three grandchildren De’Marco Palmore, Paige Palmore and Genesis Palmore of Westerville Ohio, a plethora of other relatives and wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her two grandmothers.  Sibyl was returned to her family for a private memorial service

“In my fathers house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you . And if I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there ye may be also.

We love and miss you daughter, mom , grandmother and friend.

Annette Bruce

Annette Marie Bruce, 67, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on November 2, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Poplar Bluff, with her loving family at her side.

She was born on December 1, 1950 to Raymond Wojtowicz and Leona (Nering) Wojtowicz at St. Louis, MO

She was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing home improvements, spending time with family and friends, dancing, doing puzzles and loved her grandchildren.

Annette is survived by two sons, Robert Kenneth(Tammy) Harwell, Jr., Jeffrey Michael (Patricia) Harwell; Daughter, Paula Marie(Kenny) Barker; mother, Leona Wojtowicz; two sisters, Deborah Thompson, Andrea Harris; brother, Steven Wojtowicz; two granddaughters, Allison Harwell, Alexis Harwell; two grandsons, Dennis McFadden, Brett McFadden; .

She was preceded in death by father, Raymond Wojtowicz.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2018, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO with a dinner beginning at 5 pm at the Eagles 1400 South Broadway in Poplar Bluff.   There will then be a visitation Wednesday, November 7, 2018, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Campagna Funeral Home 45 N. W. Railroad St. Ashley, IL  followed by a graveside funeral at 1:30 pm at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Radom, IL with Pastor Cindy Bean officiating.

Jerry L. Talley

Jerry Lee Talley of Poplar Bluff, Mo passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, at the age of 77.

Jerry was born November 15, 1940 to the late Jake and Hazel Talley of Des Arc, Mo.  Jerry graduated from Des Arc High School in 1958. He retired from General Motors after many years of service. He attended the Palace of Praise church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

In 1972 he was united in marriage to Loretta Wood.  She preceded him in death in 1992.

On June 5, 1993 Jerry was united in marriage to Suedell Lashley.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Suedell, his son Russ (Jennifer) Talley of Wentzville,Mo, son Jon Talley of Montgomery City, Mo, stepdaughter Paula (Allen) Gallamore of Poplar Bluff, Mo and stepson Kevin (Susan) Lashley.

two sisters; Alice (Vernon) Sutton of Poplar Bluff, Mo, Paula (Denny) Berry of Arnold, Mo.; grandchildren; Rebecca Talley, Audrey Talley,  Christian Gallamore, Van Gallamore, Nichkolas Gallamore, Justin (Emily) Lashley and many other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Talley,  a sister Veta Mae Powers.

Jerry was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He will always hold a special place in all our hearts.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 2,2018 10 am at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.  Everyone will meet at Shepherd of Hills Cemetery 1925 Old Hwy M  Barnhart, MO at 3 pm for internment.

Darrell Stout

Monday, October 22nd, 2018

Darrell Stout, 62, of Poplar Bluff passed away Saturday, October 20,2018.  He had been in the Portageville Nursing Facility.  

He was born March 17, 1956 to Wilborn Stout and Dorothy (Gower) Stout Moore.  

Darrell is survived by his wife Karen (Andrews) Stout, daughters; Amber and Dawn Andrews, sisters; Sheila (Cevis) Smith, Valarie (Dan) Kiefer, special grandson; Blace Strader and granddaughter; Mila

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Nathan Stout and sister Shirley Larmie.  

There will be a graveside burial 1 pm Friday, October 26th at Kinsey Cemetery off V Hwy.

Billy Lee Bonds

Billy Lee Bonds  63 of Poplar Bluff departed this life on October 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born on June 21, 1955 in St.Louis Mo. to the late Wesley and Sally (Frizzell) Bonds.  He retired after working in a nursing home for a number of years. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing,  and most of all spending time with family.

He is survived by two sisters, Linda Feltz and Judy Cline. Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Along with his parents Mr. Bonds was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Hufford, by two brothers Robert and George Bonds.

The family is planning a private internment at a later date.

Laura Gorsuch

Laura K. Gorsuch, 65, of Poplar Bluff passed away October 6, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  

Mrs. Gorsuch was born September 23, 1953 to the late Kenneth and Patricia Meeks in Detroit, MI.  On November 18, 1972 she was married to James Gorsuch in Detroit.  He preceded her in death January 6, 2001.  

Mrs. Gorsuch enjoyed watching soap operas and playing games on the computer.  

She is survived by her daughter, Christie Gorsuch (Robert Sadler) of Poplar Bluff.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, father, Kenneth Meeks and mother, Patricia (Poole) Meeks.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 11-11:40 am  at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff.  Procession will leave at 11:40 for Ash Hill Cemetery for a 12 pm graveside funeral with Ronnie Fowler officiating.

Billie Jean Phipps (Venable)

Billie Jean Phipps (Venable) , 86 of Poplar Bluff departed this life on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at her residence. She was born on May 27, 1932 in Essex Mo. to the late Elmer and Lydia Burns. She was of the Baptist Faith, was a homemaker, loved traveling, reading, gardening, she loved it when family and friends would come to her home for visits and meals.

She is survived by her children, Linda Rae Pipkins, Jimmy Darrell Phipps. Her grandchildren Scott Tolliver and wife Tammy,Angie DeShaney and husband Roy, Kim Treaster, Jeremiah Reese, Andrea Cromer. Twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, one sister Patricia Forsythe.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved Floyd Venable, by her brothers, Leon,Jim, Louie, John, Floyd Burns. by three sisters, Imogene McDaniel, Mary Bell Wilson, Lucille Sheppard.

Visitation will be on Saturday October 6, 2018  at 10 am at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral service will start at 11 am in the funeral home chapel  with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating  burial will follow in the City Cemetery.

Brenda Kay Blurton

Brenda Kay Blurton, 65 of Poplar Bluff departed this life on September 27, 2018 at her residence. She was born on January 23, 1953 in Dexter, Mo. to the late Edward and Helen Reed. On  September 22, 1979 she was married to Jimmy Blurton in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2017.

She was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church. She loved watching her grandchildren, being outdoors, and shopping.   Surviving are her children, Danny Russom and wife Debbie, Wanda Eastwood and husband Mark, Pam Willis and husband Tim, Sarah  and Guy Ray, Timmy Blurton. Several grand and great -grandchildren , one sister Pat Moman, several nieces and nephews, special nieces Debbbie Russom, Jeannie Wlodarcik a special nephew Devin Russom.

Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two sisters,  Joann Whoberry, Norma Reed, by two brothers, Robert and Ronald Reed.

Visitation will be on Wednesday October 3 , 2018 beginning at 2 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officating burial will follow in the Old Oak Hill Cemetery.

Shaquala Dudley

Shaquala Romance Dudley, 26, of Saint Louis, passed away September 21, 2018 at the Benchmark Care Facility in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born on January 14, 1992 in Poplar Bluff, MO. She enjoyed singing. She was disabled all her life.

Shaquala is survived by her father William Lewis, mother, Rhonda Dudley,two sisters, Jasmine Holloway, Teeaira Dudley; four brothers, Shakeal Dudley, Dimitri Dudley, Jordan Holloway, Jaekwon Holloway; .

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 10:00 am at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO.

GRAVESIDE funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 11:00 am at City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Donald Ray Malpass

Donald “Ray” Malpass, son of the late Emry Malpass and Edna Malpass-Spratley, was born on February 3, 1953 in Raleigh, North Carolina and departed this life on Monday September 24, 2018 at his residence in Poplar Bluff, MO at the age of 65.

Mr. Malpass was a Route Courier for the Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Poplar Bluff, Jaycee’s and attended church at Calvary Baptist. He enjoyed spending time working on cars, riding motorcycles and building boat trailers.

Mr. Malpass is survived by 6 children. Christine Laswell and her husband Kenneth of Florida. Jack Evans of Missouri, Connie Evans of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gerald Evans of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Donald Malpass-Fenton Jr. of Texas and Brian Malpass-Fenton of Texas; by 6 grandchildren, Chriscella Mariscal and Cora Amado both of Perryton, Texas, Cecelia Meyer and Mark Hicks Jr. both of Poplar, Bluff, Missouri, Kenny Laswell and Candice Wideman both of St. Louis, Missouri; and by many grandchildren; Emmali, Gabriella, and Annali Mariscal, Isabella, Nevaeh and Ximena Amado, Natalie Meyer, Chase Hicks, Alexis, Bratonya and Haley.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Kimberly Crowell, only brother, Michael Malpass. One son, Stephen Thacker, his Grandmother, and many Aunts and Uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Monday October 1, 2018 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO
