Arthur Dean Ruessing

Arthur Dean Ruessing, 66, of Poplar Bluff passed away August 22,2018 at his home.

He was born on July 30, 1951 to William and Lozena Ruessing at St. Louis County, MO. He enjoyed watching boat races and car races, trains, his family and his dogs.

He was a member of he is a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, the American Legion and he served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Arthur is survived by his wife Mary Ruessing (Wallace) , two daughters, JoAnn, Shirley Curry; five sons, Chris Ruessing, Bryin Vaugn, Donnie Gray, Wesley, Daniel; three step daughters, Cally Davis(Kenneth Vass), Jill Colclasure, Jennifer Goodluck; two step sons, Chris Davis, JR Colclasure.

He was preceded in death by Father, William Ruessing, Mother, Lozena Ruessing, Daughter, Jennifer Ward, Brother, John Ruessing.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018, 1:00 pm at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff.

Burial will take place in the Black River Cemetery.

Fred Richard Wallace

Fred Richard Wallace,  60 of Poplar Bluff departed this life on August 20, 2018 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau Mo. He was born on September 7, 1957 in St.Louis Mo. to the late Fred and Tessie (Ray) Wallace.

He retired from Poplar  Bluff City Park Dept. He was a member of Agee Fellowship church , enjoyed camping, boating, jetski riding, most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

On July 12, 1981 he married Pamela (Dobbs) Wallace she survives. Also surviving are his children Holly Rucker and husband Tommy, Misty Wallace, Kevin Wallace.  One brother Paul Wallace and wife Sherry two sisters, Sharon Davidson,  Paula Mosley,his grandchildren, Shyanne Wallace, Tommy Joe Rucker Jr. Kyle Rucker, Alysse Wallace, Taron Wallace, Brooklyn Wallace, Alexis Wallace, Olivia Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace , Makayla Rucker, Christionna Spraggins, Christopher Spraggins. One great grandchild Joshua Bostic Davis Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as One sister  Donna Hallowell, one brother Larry Wallace.

Visitation will be Saturday Aug.25, 2018 beginning at 11 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 pm  with Rev. Jim Schremp officating.

Verla Greer

Verla Osborn Greer,92 passed away on August 15, 2018 in Memphis, TN.

She was born on November 23, 1925. Verla had worked as a proof reader for Daily America Republic long before the days of spell check and auto correct. She enjoyed baking (especially pies), sewing clothes for her yard goose and volunteering at church.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff until her health forced her to relocate to Memphis near her daughter..

Verla is survived by her son, Gary Greer (Rose) of Wentzville, MO; daughter; Vicki Less (Stanley) of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by Husband, Conley Greer, Sister, Vera Sheehy, Sister, Thelma Hillis, Sister, Leona Martin and Brother, Sonny Osborn.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, 12:30 pm at the City Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, MO

Memorials are suggested to the in lieu of flowers please make memorials to First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff in her name.

Anna Marshall Baynham

Anna Marie Marshall Baynham, 57, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on August 15, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 30, 1960 to J.B. and Mildred (Koval) Jenkins.

Anna is survived by her husband Ivery, two sons, Robert John Jenkins, Ronald Edward Harty, II; two daughters, Viola Harty, Rebecca Ann Harty; mother, Mildred Jenkins; two brothers, Robert Wayne Jenkins, John Daly; sister, Bernadette Hays; ten grandchildren Robert John Jenkins, Jr., Chloe Jenkins, Malakhi Harty, Keegan Harty, Justina Edmonds, TreQua Harty, Alexis McCue, Oliver Harty, Donald McCue III and Viola Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her Father, J.B. Jenkins.

A memorial service and burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date.

Alfred Gipson

Alfred Ray Gipson, 57 of Poplar Bluff, passed away on August 7, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on September 2, 1960 in Doniphan, MO.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Lacy Gipson of Poplar Bluff, MO;  two half sisters, Vicky Sampson of Wichita Kansas, Sonja Rawlings Casey of Oklahoma and his  step mother, Oleta Gipson, two special friends, Will Morgan and Cindy Trube.

He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Gipson  his mother Helen Gipson(Oakley), two brothers, Kenneth Gipson,  Vernon Dale Gipson,  one half brother Shannon Rawlings.

There will be a celebration of life memorial service 10am Monday, Aug. 13,2018 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO

Robert Luther Freeman, 71, of Poplar Bluff, passed away July 29, 2018 at Wappapello, MO.

He was born on December 24, 1946 in Poplar Bluff.

He is survived by sisters, Lilly Mae Adams, Bonnie Griffin, Marilyn Swartzell; two Uncles, Von Farris, Jim Farris; ex wife, Carolyn Diane Freeman.

He was preceded in death by Father, Robert Freeman, Sr., Mother, Sarah Ruth(Farris) Hefner, Brother, Lloyd Freeman

Gerald Lester Davis

Gerald Lester Davis, 92 of Arnold Mo. former resident of Poplar Bluff Mo, passed away on July 27, 2018 in Kearney Mo.

He was born on May 29, 1926 in Risco Mo. to the late Fred and Lila (Jones) Davis.  On February 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Argie Mae Davis, she preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2014.

He was a small engine repairman he knew lawn mower engines from front to back and he repaired numberous mowers in Poplar Bluff. He loved watching wresting on television,  going to auctions,  and dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his children, Gwen Paash and husband Eddie, Gerald Michael Davis, Kathy Ramsey and husband Mark, Patty Meador and husband Paul. Ten grandchildren, Dawn Eakins, Jayme McGee, Chad and Nathan Davis, Carissa Ham, Lacee Kaufmann, Kyle Ramsey, Mariah , Miranda, and Marissa Meador. Ten great grandchildren, Stephen Gross, Trenton, Nate, and Caydence McGee, Zach and Taylor Davis, Halo Ham, Grayson Strobel , Lincoln Kaufmann, Juliette Boese. Two sisters, Faye Morries, Marilyn Howell, two brothers, Bud Davis, Arlie Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ruth Nobles, five brothers Richard, Victor, June, Russell and Vernon Davis. One daughter-in-law Nancy Davis also preceded in death.

Visitation will be Thursday August 2, 2018  starting at 11:30 a.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home.

The funeral  service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ron Fowler officiating .

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens.

Nettie Hill

Nettie Frances Hill, 75, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on July 7, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born on February 24, 1943 to Raymond and Margery (Presson) Batson at Cairo, IL. She enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo and playing slot machines.

Nettie is survived by her son, Kenny Bounds; daughter, Carol Bounds; Sister, La Wanda Thone; grandson, Brandon Bounds; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by Father, Raymond Batson, Mother, Margery Batson, Brother, Robert Raymond Batson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, 10:00 am at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, MO, with Rev. David Radford officiating.

Burial will take place in the Sparkman Cemetery.

Stanley Dye

Stanley Bernard Dye entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the University Of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Stanley was born on October 4, 1971 to the late Louis Ross, Sr. and Betty Dye (Little).

Stanley joined the U.S. Navy, where he had a distinguished career aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. During his 14 years of service,Stan traveled the world serving our country. After serving in the military, Stanley moved to Maryland, joined Goode Companies and became the Quality Control Supervisor at Baltimore Washington International Airport.

Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2018  6 till 8 p.m. at Fowler- Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle 211 South 8th St in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Rev.David Tharp and Rev Louis Ross will be officiating. Internment will follow in the City Cemetery. Fowler – Sullivan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
