20151209_085921Dora Burns is a  licensed embalmer, funeral director and preneed agent.  She was born and raised in Poplar Bluff, graduating Poplar Bluff High School in 1995. She attended Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) before going to mortuary school.  In 2003 she graduated from St. Louis Missouri Mortuary program, where she was awarded the Missouri Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) scholarship both years.

Dora got her start at a funeral home in St. Louis, while attending mortuary school.  She came home to Poplar Bluff and split her apprenticeship between two local funeral homes.  In 2007 she began working with Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Inc. in Neelyville and in 2008 she joined Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.

She and her husband, Bryan, have been married for sixteen years and have a 10 year old son, Dominik Burns and a 3 year old son, Mark Burns.  They are also foster parents in Butler County.    Bryan is a shift commander at Butler County Fire Department. They both are proud members of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Dora is an assistant Sunday School teacher for 2 year olds and  in charge of the door greeting program.
She enjoys the kids, boating, fishing, and when the occasion presents itself. She enjoys being a part of the nursing home ministry through Temple Baptist Church, but above all she enjoys serving the Lord and her community.
