Bob Ray Barriner, formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away, January 2, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 71.
Mr. Barriner was born August 6, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late James Riley Barriner and Rose (Jackson) Barriner.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and was a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar.
On February 23, 2006, he was married to Louise (Brewer) Barriner, at Albertville, Alabama. She survives.
Also surviving are seven children; Margaret Ruston and husband, Rick, Charles Barriner and wife, Suzanne, Diana Beck and husband, Larry, William Gardner, Sabrina Curtis and husband, Mike, Katie Chaffin and husband, Darrel, April Willisson and husband, Norman; sixteen grandchildren; Ricky Ruston and wife, Lauren, Candice Ruston and husband, Brandon, Crystal Beck and husband, Jason, John Beck and wife, Alisha, Kristen Barriner, Jeremy Barriner, Shaylynn Gardner, Patrick Gardner, Andrew Sanford and wife, Jennifer, Brittney Cates, Erika Curtis, Luke Curtis, James Ray, Hollie Chaffin, Dustin Chaffin, and Emma Chaffin; 8 great-grandchildren; Jacob Beck, Destiny Beck, Kylar Panky, Isaiah Panky, Alexis Panky, Davis Ruston, Kristen Rhodes, Ryan Rhodes. One sister, Pat Blount also survive.
Mr. Barriner was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Barriner; a wife, Rebecca Barriner; 2 sisters, Rosie Bullard, Lenore Snyder; 3 brothers, Olen Toombs, Jim Barriner, and Fred Barriner.
Visitation service for Mr. Barriner will begin at 12 p.m. (noon), Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by a graveside service and burial at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, in Butler County, with full military rites. Rev. Ricky Ruston officiating. Contibutions should be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, to help with the funeral expenses.
