Charles Kneir, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away January 10, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kneir was born October 6, 1934 in Poplar Bluff. He was owner of the Chuckwagon Restaurant for 27 years.
He was a founding member of Christian Church of God and the Lord's Chapel Church. He was also a founding board member of the Roy D. Hayden Detoxification Center and the Crisis Line. He also served in the National Guard.
Mr. Kneir enjoyed truck patching, farming, playing with grandkids and playing dominos.
On November 5, 1953 he married Gloria I. (Bruce) Kneir, in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2005.
He is survived by four children, Sheryl Cundiff and husband, E., of St. Charles, Mo., Charles Michael Kneir and wife, Cheryl, David Kneir and wife, Lori, and Kevin Kneir all of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Naomi Scheps; 3 brothers; Elvin "Sonny" Kneir and wife, Mary, Vernon Kneir and wife, Peggy and Chester Kneir and wife, Shirley; 12 grandchildren, Justin Kneir and fiance', Whitney, Derek Kneir and wife Dortha, Amber Franklin and husband, Kevin, Krystal Kneir, Blake Kneir and fiance', Crissy, Charlie Kneir and wife, Destiny, David Andrew Kneir, Lucretia Halfacre and Zachary Brake, Amber Burgett, Shayne Burgett and Lehanne Burgett; 8 great- grandchildren, Madigan and Cruz Franklin, Jaciee, Parker, Bo Wade Kneir, Anna, and Jacob Kneir and Noah Sansoucie.
Also preceding him in death include his parents, Samuel and Minnie (Hawks) Kneir, a daughter-in-law, Christy Kneir; infant brother,Verlin Kneir and brother-in-law, Charles Scheps.
Visitation will be held Sunday January 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m., at Grace ChristianFellowship Church, 3200 Warrior Lane, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Grace Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating, assisted by his former pastors, Rev. Rowdy Boyer and Rev. Boyd Wicker. Burial in Memorial Gardens.
