Clyde Ray Stone, 81 of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital.
Mr. Stone was born December 22, 1934, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Joe and Ruby (Montgomery) Stone.
Mr. Stone was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He loved his church family and everyone in his Sunday School class.
He served his country as a Gunner's Mate aboard the USS Helena during the Korean War in the United States Navy. Until his retirement in 2006, he was a barber and co-owner of Bluff Barber shop. He enjoyed sponsoring and coaching baseball and softball teams with his good friend and co-owner, Don Orton. He had a passion for sports and followed Raider basketball and Cardinal baseball. He was a master woodworker and created many beautiful things. His most enjoyable past time was spending time with his family.
May 1955 he married his soulmate, Trudy (Ramsey) Stone. She preceded him in death March 14, 2011.
He is survived by his children, Darrell (Connie) Stone of Poplar Bluff, Treena (Phil) Murray of Poplar Bluff, Kimra (Jim) Beckett of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Don Stone of Poplar Bluff; 17 grandchildren, Shawn Stone, Houston, Tx., Apollo Stone, Oregon, Jason(Sara) Stone, Zach (Robin) Stone of St. Charles, Chad Rhinehart Stone of Washington, Jessica (Brandon) Wilson Crawford of Auxvasse, Mo., Mark (Sarah) Wilson and Nathan Murray of Poplar Bluff, Ryan Murray of St. Louis, Kami and Jodi Beckett of Cape Girardeau, Harlie Rhamy and Stormy Ward both of Poplar Bluff; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Penelope, Sebastian and Benny Stone of St. Charles, Mo., Kylie Vaughn Stone and Faith Stone of Houston, Tx., Evan and Abby Rhinehart Stone of Washington, Bane and Beckett Crawford of Auxvasse, Mo.
Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Travis Stone.
Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2016 beginning at 9:30 am at the First Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 11 am, with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
