Donnie Hornbeck Obituary


Donnie Ray Hornbeck, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Mark Twain Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Hornbeck was born July 4, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, to Ransom and Rosetta Hornbeck. Both precede him in death. He was a member of Third Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. Donnie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a school custodian and for Bunny Bread as a baker and loader.

On December 28, 1956 he married Betty Jane Hornbeck. She preceded him in death December 16, 2013.

His daughter, Debra Trout, of Poplar Bluff survives; as well as one brother, Ralph Hornbeck of St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Hornbeck is also preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Whitley and Lula Bell Moore and 4 brothers, Ira, Carl, Jessie and Everett Hornbeck.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The Rev. Ralph Mayes and Rev. James Capps will officiate. Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.
