Edna Mae Hastings, of Poplar Bluff, passed away February 14, 2012 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Hastings was born February 1, 1934, in Butler County, to the late David and Daisy Fann. She had formerly lived in Georgia and St. Louis, Mo. She graduated from nursing school in 1969. Her career, as an LPN, included working for the Poplar Bluff Hospital, Lucy Lee Hospital and Doctor's Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, painting, crafts, the outdoors, and taking care of people. She was a member of Living Word Baptist Church.
On August 28, 1954, in Hernando, Mississippi, she married Robert Hastings Sr. They happily enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Mr. Hastings survives.
Also surviving are her children, Rancy Hastings and wife, Sandy of St. Louis, Debbie Hooks and husband, Dennis of Ash, NC., Robert Hastings Jr. and wife, Roxie of Savannah, Ga., Julie Kirkley and husband, Rick of Poplar Bluff; seven surviving sisters, Ruth Harris, Joyce Pinion, Judy Pinion,Margaret Pennington, Virginia Estell, Irene Shriver,and Violet Desha; five surviving brothers, Arthur Fann, Ray Fann, David Fann, Richard Fann, and Frank Fann; five grandsons, Robert Hastings III and wife, Maggie of Marrietta, Ga., Shannon Hastings and Sean Hastings both of Savannah, Ga., Ryan Hastings, St. Louis, Mo., Matthew Kirkley, Poplar Bluff; one great-grandson, Tyler Hastings, Marrietta, Ga.
Preceding Mrs. Hastings in death are siblings Sharon Saylor, Jessie Fann, Oscar Fann, Carolyn Louise Fann and one great-grandson, Robert Hastings IV.
Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, February, 18, 2012, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Donny Emmons officiating. Burial in the Rombauer Cemetery.
