Ina Christie

Ina Christie, age 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Christie was born June 9, 1935, in Butler County, to the late Shelby and Mamie (Osborn) Garner. She worked as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed quilting, teaching sign language and helping the churches deaf choir, writing, her friends, family and church. She was a member of the Living Word Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

On August 5, 1961 she married Aubrey Christie in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death December 30, 2011.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Christie of Springfield, Mo., Judy Seawel and husband, Brent, of Poplar Bluff, Karen Zarky and husband, Art, of Camdenton, Mo., son-in-law, Bill Jones of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Brian Jones and Angie Taylor, both of Springfield, Mo., Jaybe Blair and husband, Kyle of Columbus, Ga., William Roach, Oakland, Tn., Christie Browne and husband, Richard of Springfield, Mo., Carrie Stone of Aurora, Mo., Dan Seawel and wife, Julie of Clever, Mo., Sarah McAnulty and husband, Nathan of Poplar Bluff, Karen Sue Heembrock and husband, David of St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Mairin and Colin Knauss, Carson, Avery and Richie Browne, Emmaleigh Stone; Ailee, Olivia and Benjamin Seawell, Kara, Robert and Katie Heembrock.

Also preceding her in death a daughter, Carolann (Christie) Jones; sister, Minnie Easter and two brothers, Shelby Garner and Edward Garner.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Living Word Baptist Church, 456 Township Line Rd., Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at the church with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery.
