In a miraculous recovery, he later worked as a volunteer for his wife from 1980 to 2000 at the Northside Nutrition Center doing many roles of service for the senior citizens. He drove the Senior Citizen Bus and called Bingo for most of that 20 years of time. Even after retirement, he still enjoyed playing Bingo, working in his yard,
and later playing computer games.
