Joyce Maxine Crook, 87, of Naylor, Mo., formerly of Gary, Ind, died Sat., April 4, 2015 at Southeast Hospital in Doniphan, Mo.
Mrs. Crook was born June 4, 1927 in Vanceburg, KY. She worked as an assistant postmaster for the Postal Service. She was a member of the Church of God, and enjoyed sewing, word search puzzles, Christmas village, gardening, and ceramics.
On July 4, 1954 she married Rev. Gilbert T. Crook in Crown Point, Ind. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1985.
Survivors include 4 children, Robert Sandy of Hohenwald TN., Thelma Wagner and Lori Crook, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Tammy Crook of Naylor, Mo.; 1 sister, Shirley Ewing, of Schererville, Ind.;4 grandchildren, Sarah & husband Eric, Sheri, Kristy, Jesse; 5 great-grandchildren, January, Eric Jr., Michael, Gabriel, and Evan.
Besides her husband, also preceding her in death are her daughter, Juanita Crook; her son, Gilbert Crook II; her parents, Norman Akers, and Bertha Lewis Akers; 1 sister, Sue Garrison; 2 brothers, Norman Akers and Robert Akers.
Visitation will be Wed., April 8, 2015 from 6: p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Ron Fowler officiating. Burial will be held at Gum Cemetery.
