Lonial Franklin Obituary


Lonial Leonard Franklin, 92, of Harviell, Mo., died at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr Franklin was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Earl, Ark. He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed his work on lawn mowers and working in general. He had been a resident of Butler County since 1948 and was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Harviell. He was known and loved by all that knew him.

On June 15, 1940, he married Mildred Alene Loree in Parma, Mo. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Franklin and wife, Mary Jo, of Neelyville and Kenneth Franklin and wife, Brenda, of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Debbie Wells and husband, David; nine grandchildren, Natalie Tate, Jeanene Hover, James Franklin, LaDonna Jo Cambell, Mickey Griffin, Christopher Franklin, Kevin Fanklin, Michael Wells and Brian Wells; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

His mother, Nellie Talley, preceded him in death.

Vistitation for family will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday with open Visitation at 6 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with Elder Terry Sharpe officiating. The double marker burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.
