Melvina Johnson Obituary

Melvina MaeElla Johnson, 92, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born February 9, 1923, in Poplar Bluff, to the late James and Marjorie (Ferby) Cleveland. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, canning, gardening, fishing and loved cooking.

Survivors include her children, Carolyen Benson, Sandra R. Taylor, Bruce W. Benson (Monica), Portia M. Johnson, Marshall D. Johnson, and Aaron K. Johnson; 21 grandchildren, Shana Benson, Shelisa Benson, Carol Benson, Portia Benson, John Taylor, William Taylor, Lamont Reed, Nakia Benson, Alex McCain, Bruce Williams, Sandra Williams, Brittany Miller, Marquis Benson, Moenika Ellis, Kevin Surratt, Tameika Benson, Brandon Johnson, Melvina Johnson, Tiwanna McCain, Ray Broege and Ashley Broege; as well as 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Edgar Benson Jr.; 3 sisters, Thelma Underwood, Henrietta Lewis and Beatrice Barnes and one brother, Elijah Lewis Ferby.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
