Merlin Ervin Dobbs, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Dobbs was born November 14, 1937, in Poplar Bluff to the late Harry and Clara (Federstone) Dobbs. He was a member of the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff and was a bridge carpenter. He enjoyed his church, his Sunday School class and was a bus driver for the church. He coached little league, girls' softball and was a member of the Carpenter Local 1049 and 1770. He also delivered medicine to local nursing and care homes for Latasy Drugs.
On June 16, 1956, he married Virginia (Hale) Dobbs in Hernando, Ms. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Rickey Dobbs, Vickey Hodge, Pam Wallace, James Dobbs, Tricia Dobbs and Rachael Johnson; two sisters, Joyce Pierce and Shirley Brown; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Also preceding him in death include his son, Ronnie Dobbs, a sister, Marianne Cole and brother, Clyde Dobbs Sr.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral services are scheduled for11 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Richard Triplett officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
