Morgan Whittington Obituary


Morgan Whittington, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Whittington was born August 24, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Frank and Pauline (Phelps) Whittington. He was a truck driver and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with family and telling stories and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. He also worked at McDonnel Douglas. He was a member of the American Legion.

On July 13, 1984 he married Judy (Phelps) Whittington. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Delora Winchester and Debra (Al) Martin, both of O'Fallon, Mo., Tina (Alex) Dugas of Mountain View, Becky (John) Rice of Doniphan, Tracy (Boo) Sheppard of Poplar Bluff, and Judy Raye Hansmann (James McCormack) of West Plains; a sister, Pauline Johnson and brother, Kermit Willis; grandchildren, Jackie, Justin, Deanna, Deidre, Jerry, Josh, J-Lynn, Jacob, Kara, Kenna, Kyle Morgan, Jadian, Jaci, Jakoby and Jacelyn and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death; two sisters, Jeanette Lourance and Shirley Kemp, one brother, Jeron Whittington, as well as one grandson, David Franklin.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Poplar Bluff, followed by funeral services at 12 noon, with Joe Bissette officiating.
