Raymond Simmons, 42, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away suddenly on April 14, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Raymond was born on February 1, 1974 at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo to the late Raymond Taylor and Nancy Morley. He was later adopted by Allen and Diana Simmons. He attended Poplar Bluff and Neelyville schools.
On April 18, 1997 he married the love of his life Kimberly Vaughn. Out of this wonderful marriage they were blessed with the greatest gift of all, a beautiful daughter, Amber Simmons. Other than his loving wife Kim, Amber was his whole world.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kimberly Simmons and daughter, Amber Simmons, both of Poplar Bluff. Other survivors include three brothers George and Chris Morley, and Mark Simmons and wife, Jennifer, one sister, Michelle/Misha Simmons, his adopted parents, Allen and Diana Simmons; his mother and father-in-law Michael and Sandy Vaughn, three brothers-in-law Michael /Gene Vaughn, Greg Vaughn and Robert Vaughn, one sister-in-law, Sherry Vaughn all of Poplar Bluff.; as well as eight nieces, seven nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Raymond Taylor and Nancy Morley, and one brother, John Morley.
Raymond was deeply devoted to his wife Kimberly and daughter Amber. In 1992 he joined the Missouri National Guard in which he completed special training in refrigeration with high honors. After discharge from the National Guard, he went to work for the Department of Mental Health.
He loved spending time with his family, listening to music, racing hot rods, and working on cars.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 20, 2016, in the chapel, with Elder Lloyd Steinshouer officiating. Burial will follow at Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
