Sadie Gatlin Obituary


Sadie Lorene Gatlin, 94, of Carbondale Ill., formerly of Poplar Bluff and Neelyville, Mo., died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Mrs. Gatlin was born July 4, 1919, in Bumcom Community, in Mo., to the late Thomas Jefferson Griffen and Ida Belle Rigdon. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and cooking. She also attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff for many years.
On January 12, 1927 she married Leamon Edward Gatlin in Corning Ark., he precedes her in death.
Survivors include 2 children Patty Trentelman and husband Jim of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Teresa Rich, of Murphysboro, Ill.; one brother Harold Griffen of Booneville, North Carolina; 3 grandchildren Patrick and wife Trish, Heather and husband Kent, Stephanie; 9 great-grandchildren, Jade, Dakota, Lesley, Isabella, Erin, Makayla, Kennedy, Logan, Brandon; and 2 great-great-grandchildren Aryia and Arwyn.
Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by 2 children Billy Gatlin and Peggy Gatlin; four sisters Beulah Griffen, Virgie Griffen, Earlene Hoffman, and Dorothy Harris; and two brothers, Oliver Griffin and Norman Griffin.
Visitation will begin at 12:30p.m. Saturday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel with burial following at Eaton Cemetery, in Naylor, Mo.
