Virginia Elouise King of Poplar Bluff passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at her home. She was 89 years, 5 months, and 10 days old.
Mrs. King was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Naylor, Mo. to parents Frank and Ella (Melton) Ramsey. Both preceded her in death. She lived in Poplar Bluff most of her life. She attended First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. A homemaker, she enjoyed reading the Bible, word search puzzles and sewing.
On Nov. 1, 1943, she married William Rex King at St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter- in-law, Reba D. King of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Elizabeth Walpole of Longview, Texas and Dorothy McCarty of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Larry King; and one grandson, William R. King II of Poplar Bluff.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Darry W. King; one daughter, Dr. Ronda E. King; one great-grandson, David W. King; four sisters, Aileen Warden, Betty Willoughby, Alice Bruner, and husband, Albert and Norma Barnhart and husband, Frank; and two brothers-in-law, Bob McCarty and Cecil Walpole.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at FOWLER-SULLIVAN MEMORIAL CHAPEL in NEELYVILLE, MO., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., with Minister John Harwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.
