Robbie G. Dennis Sr.

Robbie G. Dennis Sr. , 49, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Dennis was born April 8, 1961, at Poplar Bluff.  He attended Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Dennis served in the U.S. Army and worked at 303 Liquor for 10 years.  He also worked for Sperry Rail Service.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his father, Bobby Gene Dennis of Bloomfield; his mother, Ann Osborn of Poplar Bluff; the mother of his  children, Raetta Dennis; his children Robbie Gene Dennis Jr. and Amy Dennis, both of Poplar Bluff; his sister, Rhonda  and husband John McGowen of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Richard Lee Dennis of Washington D.C.; a grandson Maison Dennis and granddaughter Olivia Ann Dennis; and a nephew, Matthew McGowen.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday followed by the funeral service at noon at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Elden Wheelis officiating.  Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Johnnie L. Proctor Sr.

Johnnie Laverne Proctor Sr. , 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Proctor was born December 13, 1945, at Oaklawn, Ill.

He was of the Southern Baptist faith.  He was a vetern of the U.S. Navy and a truck driver.

He enjoyed collecting die cast cars and car racing.

Surviving are his children, Johnnie L. Proctor, Jr. of Joliet, Ill., Chad M. Proctor of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Misty Baker and Theresa Chalfant, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo. ; Maurajeah O’Neil of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Marvin Proctor of Rockford, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Officiated by Ron Fowler.

Nannalee Dollins

Nannalee Dollins, formerly of Poplar Bluff, MO., passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at White County Memorial Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. 

Born May 18, 1924 in Burr, Mo., she was the daughter of T.M. and Mabel Shaver.  Nannalee graduated from high school in 1945 and later attended Poplar Bluff Business College.  She began work at the Lucy Lee Hospital as a secretary to the late Dr. James McPheeters.

She chose to be a stay-at-home mother in 1963, but went back to work as a secretary for the Poplar Bluff School System in the food service department in 1969 and continued there until she retired in 1977.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Dollins. who passed away in 2008.

She is survived by two sons, Rod Dollins of Troy, Mo. and Greg Dollins of Searcy, Ark.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother A.C. Shaver and sister-in-law Dean Shaver of Pocahontas, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Cosby and Anne Dollins, both of Neelyville, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Virgil Brake of Neelyville.

She was a faithful member of the Highland Drive Church of Christ in Poplar Bluff.

Due to family health concerns, Nannalee and her husband, Robert, moved to Searcy in 2006.

Mary Hillis

Mary Evangeline McCullough Hillis, 54, died at 4:30 p.m. July 1, 2010, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mary was a resident of Poplar Bluff and a member of the Third Baptist Church.

Born September 11, 1955, in Cairo, Ill., the daughter of the late Walter and Audrey McCullough of Charleston. She was a 1974 graduate of Charleston High School.

In 1978 she graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

She was employed as libriarian with Greenville Elementary School for the past 32 years.  She possessed a deep, caring love, not only for every one of her students, but for all the children everywhere.

She and her husband were owners an operators of Hillis Transport, LLC of  Poplar Bluff.

On June 30, 1990, she married Willard Kenneth Hillis, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Eddie Fiske; a granddaughter, Erin Nicole Fiske of Harviell; a grandson, Kenneth Jacob Fiske of Harviell; two brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth and Chris McCullough of Cape Girardeau and Richard and Verna McCullough of Charleston; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Daisy and Gerald McClain of Charleston, Dessie and Tom Tramel of Powell, Wyoming , and Dorothy and Fred Turner of Sikeston.

Mary was a true blessing to so many and leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Fiske. Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home , 844 Cedar, Poplar Bluff with funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010.  Rev. Ralph Mayes officiated and burial in the Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell, Mo.
