Patricia Ann Travis

Patricia Ann Travis of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday July 13, 2012 at the age of 70.

Mrs. Travis was born June 15, 1942, in Corning, Ar.  She had lived in Butler County all of her married life.  She attended Twin Springs Baptist Church.  She had worked as a dispatcher for Penske Trucking.  She enjoyed doing yard work.

On May 28, 1960, she married James Ed Travis.  He preceded her in death June 4, 2008. 

Survivors include her mother, Thelma (Duff) Brewer of Corning, Ark.; two brothers, Don Brewer and wife, Fletta, of Corning, Ark., and Jim Brewer and wife, Linda, of Success, Ark.; one niece; three nephews; one brother-in-law, Larry Travis of Finger, Tenn.; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Smith and Lola Ross, both of Finger, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Brewer in 1986.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, Mo.   Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 17, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Tim Brewer and Roger Mayo officiating. Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery near Harviell, Mo.  Memorials may be made to Twin Springs Baptist Church, c/o Sue Knowlton, 11940 CR 461, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  63901

Bobby Joe Mangrum Sr.

Bobby Joe Mangrum Sr. of Poplar Bluff passed away Sunday July 15, 2012 at his home at the age of 53.  Mr. Mangrum was born July 17, 1958 at Poplar Bluff, Mo. and was a lifetime resident.  He was a member of Grace Ministries in Poplar Bluff and American Legion Post 630.  He worked for Sandy’s Cab Co. in Poplar Bluff.  Mr. Mangrum enjoyed fishing, playing pool and horseshoes and he loved the outdoors. 

On July 19, 2008 he married  Ellen (Fox) Mangrum.  She survives.  Also surviving are one son, Bobby Joe Mangrum Jr. of Greenville, Mo.; sisters, Kay Moody, Debra Mangrum, Sharon Foster and husband, Jerry, Sue Gann and husband, Byron, all of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Jimmy Bridges of Poplar Bluff. 

Mr. Mangrum is preceded in death by his parents, James Mangrum and Arleva (Smith) Mangrum.

Visitation for Mr. Mangrum will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 17, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by funeral services at 3 p.m., with Rev. Sandy Mick officiating.   Memorials can be made to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home.

Charles Andrew Riels

Charles Andrew Riels of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at  the age of 40.

Mr. Riels was born July 24, 1972 in Poplar Bluff.  He formerly lived in Atlanta, Ga. 

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Poplar Bluff and was an ordained minister.  His hobbies were carpenter work, yard sales and working in the garden. 

Survivors include  his father, John Wesley Ryles of Nashville, Tenn. ; a sister, Christine Boone of Poplar Bluff, and aunts and uncles, Leo and Betty Hayes, Nelda and Walter Hays and Darlene and Reed Lillard. 
He was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Boyd and his maternal grandparents, Hazel Madeline Spurlock Hayes and Leo Edward Hayes.  A memorial service will bel held at a later date.

Wanda Pauline Sappington

Wanda Pauline Sappington of Naylor, Mo. passed away Wednesday July 11, 2012 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, at the age of 67. 

Mrs. Sappington was born September 18, 1944 at Lawrence Michigan to parents Bill Dave Woods and Flora ( Hancock) Woods.  Both preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and loved forming fan clubs for singers.  She was a member of the Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff. 

On November 4, 1982 she was married to David Sappington at Doniphan, Mo.  He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Carla Lynn Drysdale, daughter of Carl Burns, of Harviell, Paul Anthony Sappington and Flora Maxine Sappington both of Naylor; grandsons, Mark Allen Drysdale and Darin Mitchell Drysdale. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eddie Woods.

Visitation for Mrs. Sappington will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday July 14, 2012 at the Palace of Praise Church on Hershel Bess Blvd. followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at the church.  Burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Hwy. 21 North, near Doniphan, Mo., with Pastor Randy West officiating.

JASON LEROY TIDWELL JR.

Jason Tidwell Jr, 4 of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday July 8, 2012 at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.  He was born April 1, 2008 in Poplar Bluff. 

He enjoyed playing with cars and ” Mater” was his favorite. 

Survivors are his parents, Jason Leroy Tidwell Sr. and Krystal Graham, both of Poplar Bluff;  grandparents, Shirley and Sherman Tidwell and Teresa Graham all of Poplar Bluff; one great-grandmother, Sylvia Walker of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Amber Graham of the home; one brother, Blake Tidwell of the home; and several cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Graham; great-grandparents, Harold And Rebecca Powell;  great-great grandparents, Hershel and Lucilla Powell and Emma and Jason Vaugh.

Visitation will be at noon Saturday July 14, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  A graveside service will follow at 1:30p.m. at Black Creek Cemetery, Poplar Bluff.

SHERRILL (“DARE”) KRAMER

Sherrill (“Dare”) Kramer, 67 of Poplar Bluff passed away July 5, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  She was born Dec. 18, 1944 in Poplar Bluff, to the late Harold Neal Dare and Rubye Evelyn Ross-Dare.    She had formerly lived in St. Louis, MO  for several years. 

Ms. Kramer was of Nazarene faith and had been in Altrusa Club.  She was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, shopping, flower gardening and traveling.

She was married to John Kramer and he preceded her in death. 

She is survived by sisters; Kimberley Stiles, Chicago, IL and Mary Holley of Poplar Bluff; brother; John H. Dare of Poplar Bluff and many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Ron Fowler officiating.

Debra Louise Carlton

Debra Louise Carlton, 48 of Fulton, Missouri , passed away in Columbia, Mo. at The University Hospital, July 4, 2012, . She was born June 3, 1964 at St. Louis, Missouri to William E. Carlton and Nancy Gore Carlton.

she is survived by, Her children, Tabitha Portwood and husband Adam of Doniphan, Missouri, Christian Donaldson and husband Jake of Doniphan, Mo., RAymond Hoke II and wife Heather of Ft. Lewis, Washington. Two Sisters, Linda Ellsworth and husband Rick of Kileen, Texas and Cathryn Nichol and Tedd Farris of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Three Brothers, Roberts “Bob” Carlton and Wife Tracy of Naylor, Missouri, James Carlton and wife Shauna of Doniphan, Missouri, and Vincent Carlton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Fourteen grandchildren also survive. Also surviving is her fiance’ Richard Head of Fulton, Mo.

Debra is preceded in death by her father, William E. Carlton in September 13, 2002. and Two brothers Anthony (Tony) and Edward Carlton. as well as one grandchild.

Debbie enjoyed fishing, Camping , the Outdoors and enjoyed her dogs. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a CNA at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan, Mo.

Visitation for Debra will start at 10:00 am July 7, 2012 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. with the funeral starting at 12:00 pm July 7, 2012 in Neelyville, Mo. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Larry Portwood officiating.

Raymond Eastwood

Raymond Eastwood of Poplar Bluff passed away July 2, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 20 days. 

Mr. Eastwood was born November 12, 1929 at Poplar Bluff, Mo. to parents Dow and Stella (Sneed) Eastwood.  Both preceded him in death.  He was a life time resident of Poplar Bluff and a retired truck driver.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 630 and the Eagles Lodge in Poplar Bluff.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and spending time with family. 

Mr. Eastwood is survived by his wife, Bessie (Langley) Eastwood; one son, John Eastwood and wife, Cathy of Poplar Bluff; one grandson, John Eastwood Jr. and wife, Sandy of Kansas City, Mo.; 2 nephews, Leonard Eastwood and wife, Edith of Poplar Bluff, and Robert Eastwood and wife, Ruth of Williamsville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. 

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at the City Cemetery.  Ron Fowler will officiate.
