Barbara Jean Wyrick, age 55, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday morning, August 28, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. 

Ms. Wyrick was born May 29, 1957 in Laon, France.  She lived in Poplar Bluff for the past 3 years, but had previously lived in Marion, Illinois.  She had worked as a Avon Represenative.  She enjoyed playing Pogo on line, couponing and big family gatherings.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Wyrick Downs, Kristy Hornbeck and husband, Steven, all of Poplar Bluff; two step-children, Shelly Robyof Poplar Bluff and John Wesley Wyrick of Bragg City, Mo.; her father, Charles Thomas Mansfield Sr. and mother Geraldine (McDaniel) Crain; three sisters, Cindy Piroli, Audrey Batson and Sherry Smith all of Poplar Bluff and one brother, Charles Thomas Mansfield Jr.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Hayden and Tristan Downs, Haley and Justin Hornbeck, Zack and Doug Roby and Dakota and Weston Wyrick.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Diane Rowland.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday September 2, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Billy Gene Reel

Billy Gene Reel, age 53, of Fisk, Missouri died Friday, August 24, 2012, in Farmington, Missouri.

Mr. Reel was born September 13, 1958, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was a former resident of Dupo, Ill., and graduated from Dupo Community High School in 1976. Mr. Reel moved back to Butler County in 1976 and was of the Pentecostal faith. He had worked on the railroad for Union Pacific. Mr. Reel enjoyed football, baseball and fishing and loved his children. Mr. Reel was a carefree spirit who made all people laugh, enjoyed sports and was an avid Cardinals fan.

He was married to Julie (Stevens) Reel. She survives. Other survivors include his parents, Harold and Barbara Tinsley of Fisk; five children, Amy Reel Buechel of Denver, Co., Nicole Vetter and husband, Brett, of Belleville, Ill, Ashley Bloomer and husband, Jerrod, of Cuba, Mo., Amanda Parker of Rolla, Mo., and Dakota Reel of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Tinsleyand husband, James of Ganado, Texas, and Karla Parker and husband, Robbie, of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, Paige, Cainen, Abram, Caleb, Malachi, Lilly Ann and Odin; and 10 nieces and nephews, Joey and Blake Tinsley, Jarrett, Jen and Gage Griffin, Mary Beth Griffin, Billy Griffin, Alesha and Lacy Gipson and Harold Parker.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday August 28, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 29, 2012,  in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Moore officiating.  Burial will be in the Ham Town Cemetery.

Joseph Wright

Joseph William Wright, age 30, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died August 21, 2012, as a result of injuries received in a bicycle accident near Poplar Bluff. 

Mr. Wright was born March 5, 1982 in West Covina, California.  He graduated from Hemet High School in Hemet, California in May of 2000. 

He was an avid WWE fan, who loved gardening, building things by hand and spending time with his family.  He formerly worked as a newspaper hawker for the Daily American Republic.

He married Linda Mae (Coram) Wright on October 30, 2009, in Piggott, Arkansas.  She survives. 

Also surviving are two stepdaughters; Carol Ann Luttrull of Poplar Bluff, Wanda Luttrull of Kennett, Mo.; his mother, Mary Wright of San Jacinto, Calif.; his sister, Elizabeth Maddelena of San Jacinto, Calif.; two brothers, Stephen Maddelena of New York and Bradley Maddelena of Hemet, Calif.; his stepmother, Michelle Maddelena of Hemet, California and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joe was a wonderful, loving, caring husband, brother, son, step-father, uncle and friend.

Visitation will be Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6-8p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  A graveside  service will be  Saturday Aug.25, 2012 at 9a.m. in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Poplar Bluff.

Kenneth G. Gray, 82 of Poplar Bluff, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Gray was born June 12, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to the late John W. Gray and Mary Elizabeth Chatman-Gray.  He was a member of Collins Chapel and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. 

He was a retired car dealer and had been an avid golfer in earlier years.  He was a baseball fan and had been a Little League baseball coach. 

On March 18, 1997, he was married to Louise (Ferguson) Gray in Pocahontas, Arkansas.  She survives.  He was previously married to Bettye Gray on March 31, 1950.  She preceded him in death Sept. 28, 1993. 

Also surviving are three children, Vicki Henderson (Jerry), John Gray, and Jill Allison, all of Poplar Bluff;  two brothers, Hershel Gray and Jimmy Gray; six grandchildren, Curt Henderson, Paul Henderson, Lauren Emerson(Corey), Hannah Allison, Brandon Allison, and Sydney Allison. 

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Frazier and two brothers, Robert Gray and Junior Gray. 

Visitation will begin at 11a.m. Saturday August 25, 2012, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating.  Burial will be in City Cemetery with full military honors.

Albert Thomas Griffin Jr.

Albert Thomas Griffin Jr., age 79 of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Saturday August 18, 2012 at the Life Care Center of St. Louis, Mo. 

Mr. Griffin was born March 23, 1933 at Morehouse, Mo.  the late Albert T. Griffin Sr. and Jimmie (Smith) Griffin.  He lived most of his life in Poplar Bluff and was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist in Poplar Bluff.  He was a retired construction worker.  He loved to mechanic, cook outs and being with his family. 

On November 1993 he was married to Brenda Moss in Poplar Bluff.  She preceded him in death in May 2005.

Mr. Griffin leaves behind his children, Neva Moss of Alton, Ill., and Tanji Jones of Poplar Bluff; one sister Alcie Jackson of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Alexis Moss, Shamirah Higgs, and Tamirah Higgs all of Alton, Ill.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Friday August 24, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  with funeral services at 1 p.m. in the chapel.  Rev Johnny Williams will officiate.  Burial in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Matt Mathis

Mathew Clay “Matt” Mathis, 41, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, in Butler County, Mo.

Mr. Mathis was born May 26, 1971, in Poplar Bluff, to parents Wesley Lloyd Mathis and Susan (Gutterman) Mathis.  He was a lifetime resident of Butler County.  He was a welder for Rice Trailer Manufacturing.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting arrow heads and being with his children. 

On March 23, 1991, he was married to Melissa (Tanksley) Mathis in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Myles Mathis and friend, Makala of Poplar Bluff, Madison Mathis and friend, Hunter of Poplar Bluff, McKenzie Mathi and Mason Mathis, both of the home; his mother, Susan (Gutterman) Mathis of Poplar Bluff; his grandmother, Catherine Gutterman of Stringtown;  a sister, Cassie Hancock and husband,  James of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Mark Mathis of Strington; and three grandchildren, Aubrey Mathis, Marianna and Mariah Mathis. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Lloyd Mathis; his grandparents, Max and Mildred Mathis; and his grandfather, John Gutterman.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday August 14, 2012, followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 15, 2012 in Black Creek Cemetery. 

The family wishes to thank all those who helped them in the past few days.

Walter E. Conner Sr.

Walter E. Conner Sr., 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday August 10, 2012 in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Conner was born January 8, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late George Washington Conner and Evelyn (Carney) Carner.  He was a member of Hamtown Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He had retired as a hardwood floor sander and finisher.  He enjoyed fishing.

On September 21, 1955, he was married to Anna Dixon in St. Louis, Mo. She survives. 

Also surviving are his children, Linda Halbert of Wappapello, Mary Diane Conner, Walter Conner Jr., Robert Leo Conner, Thomas Wayne Conner and Donald Lee Conner all of Wappapello; an adopted son, Chris Blackmon of Poplar Bluff; 26 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Conner is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Letha Conner and Mary Conner; four brothers,  George Conner Jr., William Conner, Clarence Clifford Conner, and Charles Conner. 

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday August 13, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will start at 12 p.m. Tuesday August 14, 2012 in the chapel  with Pastor Terry Scott officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Linda P. Lundry

Linda P. Lundry of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Sunday August 5, 2012 at the age of 62.

Mrs. Lundry was born May 31, 1950 to the late Bomer Jerrolds and Lucille Butler Jerrolds in Hayti, Mo.  She lived most of her life in Butler County and was of the Full Gospel Church.  She was secretary for Lundry’s Custom Designs.  She enjoyed swimming, loved to cook, loved animals and her grandchildren. 

On October 8, 1999 she married Rick L. Lundry in Piggott, Arkansas.  He survives.

Also surviving are her son, Jason Parker and wife Jenny of Nixa, Mo.;  a step-son, Cameron Lundry of Poplar Bluff and a step-daughter, McKenzie Vitatoe of Chillicothe, Ohio; one brother, Larry Jerrolds of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 5 grandchildren, Bo Parker, Bella Parker, Noah Lundry, Myah Vitatoe and Farrah Vitatoe.

A memorial service was held August 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, Mo. with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating.

Claude Damewood

Claude Reeve Damewood, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Thursday August 9, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Damewood was born May 24, 1932, in Mullens. West Virginia.  He formerly lived in Ellsinore, Mo., and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.  He was awarded a Combat Medic Badge, U.N. Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and a Korean Service Medal. 

He had worked as a plastics engineer and enjoyed shooting guns, being with his children, reading, doing jobs around the house.

On July 7, 1956, he was married to Patricia Hall at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Samuel Damewood and wife, Gloria, of Alamogordo, N.M., Sheila Larson and husband, Dwight, of Minor Hill, Tenn., Nicholas Haskins of Poplar Bluff, Hannah Reasons and husband, Josh, of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Sean Lyle and Ashley Hsie; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lily Reasons.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Staff Sgt. Stacy Haskins; his parents, French Johnson Damewood and Josephine (Worthington) Damewood Williams; a sister, Sally Damewood; and three brothers, French Damewood II, James Damewood and Robert Damewood.  

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday August 12, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday August 13, 2012 in the chapel with Josh Reasons, David Stewart and Cal Nations officiating.  Burial will full military honors will be in  Missouri  State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Frankie Charles Lane

Frankie Charles Lane, 49, of Poplar Bluff passed away Wednesday August 1, 2012 at his residence. 

Mr. Lane was born June 17, 1963 in Dexter, Mo. to the late Ira John William Lane and Kathleen Louise Spangle.  He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and spending time with his family.  He was a lifetime resident of Butler County. 

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Marie Benchira of Algeria, Jessica Charlene Lopez Lane and Sarah Lane Zirkle both of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Rose Mary Lane of Arizona, Sherry Ann Arbuckle of Poplar Bluff, Lesia Ellen Mc Williams of Independence, Mo. and Anna Marie Ibrahim of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Roy William Lane of Rolla Mo., Ira Dewayne Lane and Bobby Joe Lane both of Poplar Bluff; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday August 9, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., followed by the funeral service at 12 noon in the chapel.  Burial in the City Cemetery.
