Georgia Mae McKinney

Georgia Mae McKinney, 79, of New Madrid, Mo.,passed away January 13, 2013 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1933 at Reyno, Arkansas.

On October 21, 1950, at MoArk, Arkansas She was married to Rev. Orvil McKinney. He survives.

Also surviving, one son Zip McKinney and wife Sandy of New Madrid, Missouri, Three grandchildren; Misty, Holly and Justin as well as four great grandchildren; Makenzie, Chandler, Molly and Anna Bell.

She and her husband had pastor in Naylor, Mo., Cahokia, Ill. and Cape Girardeau, Mo. and then at New Madrid. Mo. where they pastored the New Madrid United Pentecostal Church until retirement. She was devoted to the church and as a pastor wife. She was  member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Sister McKinney enjoyed crocheting, spending time and reading to  her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. McKinney will be Tuesday night January 15, 2013 in the New Madrid United Pentecostal Church starting at 5:00 pm with the funeral Wednesday January 16, 2013 starting at 2:00p.m. in the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid. Rev. G.L. Keene officiating.

Henry Clay Foulk

Henry Clay Foulk, 71, of Doniphan, Mo. passed away January10, 2013 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center of Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was born April 27, 1941 at Oxly, the late Amos Foulk and Daisey Wilson Foulk.

On November 16, 1974 at Doniphan, Mo., He was married to Elaine Royer. She survives.

Also surviving,daughters, Melanie McKay of Corning, Arkansas and Angela Hunter of Doniphan, Mo. Sister, Ruth Gallion Castell of Doniphan, Mo and Linda Trout of Broseley, Mo. and one brother, Ronnie Foulk of Broseley, Mo. Grandchildren; Derrek House, Joseph Cable, Erin Cable, Nathan Holcomb and Stephanie Holcomb. great grandchild, Alexis Holcomb.

He enjoyed bluegrass music, hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

services for Mr. Foulk was January 14, 2013 starting at 1:00 pm in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Burial is in the Martin Cemetery at Oxly, Mo. Donnie Fowler officiating.

Bruce Alonzo Holcomb

Bruce Alonzo Holcomb, 52 of Oxly, Mo. passed away January 3, 2013 in the John Cochran V.A. Medical Center of St. Louis, Mo. He was born November 9, 1960 at Doniphan, Mo. to the late Alonzo Holcomb and Betty Gamblin Holcomb.

On May 12, 2012 at Poplar Bluff, Mo. he was married to Beverly Tillman Holcomb. She survives.

Also surviving, two sons, Nigel and Simon Holcomb both of Interlachen, Florida, one step son, Jackie Elliot and wife Whitney of Paragould, Arkansas. One sister, Debbie Holcomb of Fairdealing, Mo. two brothers, Allen Holcomb OF oxly, Mo. and Darrel Holcomb of Naylor, Mo.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as one sister Tammie Holcomb and one brother, Jerry Holcomb.

He was an electrician and served in the United States Navy during the Gulf War and Desert Storm. He was a member of the American Legion at Nalyor. He enjoyed history and things of the civil war, restoring hi truck , fishing, hunting working In his shop and traveling.

Services was January 9, 2013 starting at 12:00 pm in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Mo. Burial in the New Hope Cemetery near Doniphan, Mo. Donnie Fowler officiating.

Paul Douglas Bridgewater

Paul Douglas Bridewater,70, of  Harviell, Mo., passed away January 4, 2013, at his residence. He was born December 6, 1942, in Rockford, Ill. He had lived in Butler County most of his life and was a mechanic. He attended Neelyville, Naylor and Arkansas State Schools.

Mr Bridgewater was a 32nd degree mason. He was a member of Lodge #209 and Three Rivers Shrine Club in Poplar Bluff, and Moolah Shriner’s and Scottish Rite in St.Louis, Mo.

On April 4, 1964, he married Carol Sue Campbell in St.Louis. She survives. Other survivors are one daughter , Diana Lynn Bridgewater, and one granddaughter, Amanda Sue Bridewater of Harviell. One sister LaVonda Joyce Derganc, preceded him in death.

Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery at a late date. Visitation only will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday. January 8, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo.. The family requests memorials be made to Haven House Center for Battered Women and Children, in care of Fowler-Sullivan Memorial chapel.

John Kenneth Fritts

John Kenneth Fritts, 97 of Poplar BLuff, Mo. passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born March 13, 1915 at Marion, Kentuckyto the late John Phillip Fritts and Wille Maude Clark Fritts.

On December 22, 1942 at Marion, Kentucky He was married to Annie Mae Conger. He preceded him in death on November 20, 2001.

He is survived by  one daughter, Wilma Kay Lewis of Poplar Bluff, Mo., two brothers, David Orland Fritts of Corydon, Kentucky and Hollis Franklin Fritts of Daytona, Florida. His grandchildren,Betsy “Justin” Harwell, Julie “Melvin” Hicks and Amanda “Jeff” Jones and Bradley Lewis. great grand children, Mike, Mitchel, and Hunter Harwell, ‘Amber, Ashley and Austin Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two grandchildren Lisa Ann and Doug, brothers, Herbert Gray, Ira Phillip, Edwin Carter and Charles Reed Fritts and one sister Shirley Maude.

Visitation for Mr. Fritts is Saturday January 5, 2013 in the Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion Kentucky With the  funeral following Sunday January 6, 2013  starting at 1:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the Crooked Creek Cemetery in Marion, Kentucky. Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo is charge of Arrangements.

Billy Elder

Billy Elder, 79, of Naylor, Mo. passed away Dec. 31, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 20, 1933 at Torch, Mo. to the late Jesse Abner Elder and Clara Ellen Sutton.

He was married to Shirley Farmer.

He is survived by his children Cheryl Moss and Ellen Anderson of Mexico, Mo. Edward Jesse Elder of Kansas City, Kansas and Billy Ray Elder of Doniphan, Missouri. Sisters, Bonnie Jones of Lansing Michigan, and Judy Kennedy of Seattle, Washington.  and brother, Hanford Elder of Neelyville, Mo.

He is preceded in death  by his wife, parents as well as one  brother, Donnie Gene Elder.

He enjoyed, Mowing grass, flowers, and he outdoors as well as gardening. He servied in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Visitation will be Saturday January 5, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel starting at 12:00 pm. till 1:00 p.m.

Richard Low McMullin

Richard Low McMullin, 62, of Redfield, Arkansas, passed away Dec. 30, 2012 in the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was born  August 8, 1950 at Ellington, Mo to the late George McMullin and Lula Moore.

He is survived by three children, Anita Moore of Chester, Illinois, Ellen Moore of Perryville, Mo. and Samantha McMullin of Germany. His sisters, Lula Bell Wesley of Bell Flower, Mo., Elizabeth Botkins of Rolla, Mo., Rose Brooks of Doniphan, Mo.. Millie Adkins of Salem, Mo. and Venita Codner of Hawk Point, Mo. His grandchildren, Alicia, Rosezetta, Nikkie, Bobbie, Dustin, Abrandon, Xochil and Jesus. He was preceded in death by sisters, Geniva Hart, Pauline Dodson Betty Lee and Bertha Rainwater. his brothers Lewis, Edward James, Floyd Sr.Everett, George Will and Jimmy McMullin.

There was a graveside service for Mr McMullin on January 12, 2013 in t he Sutterfield Cemetery near Bunker Missouri at 1:00p.m.. Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Ova Gardner

Ova Gardner, 101 of Neelyville, Mo. passed away Dec. 28, 2012 in the Cedar Gate Nursing Facility at Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was born November 5, 1911 in Missouri to the late Brant Isiac Deaton and Cynthia Stufflebean Deaton.

She was married to Rowland Gardner. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children,Everett Paul gardner of Salem, Ark. Everett Lee Gardner, Joseph Don Gardner of Corning, Ark. Bill Newton Gradner of San Jose, California Shirley Ann Pratt of Jefferson City, Mo. Johnnie Lou Leonard of Tucker, Mo. and Sophie Jean Pakula Peru, Illinois.

she is preceded in death by her husband, parents and children, Elijah arie, Henry Wayne, Roy Wesley, Merle Francis, Forie Dean and Rowland “Peck” Gardner and Gladys Virginia Shan.

Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday January 3, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo. with the burial in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery. Donnie Fowler officiating.

Charles Kneir, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away January 10, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Kneir was born October 6, 1934 in Poplar Bluff.  He was owner of the Chuckwagon Restaurant for 27 years. 

He was a founding member of Christian Church of God and the Lord’s Chapel Church.  He was also a founding board member of the Roy D. Hayden Detoxification Center and the Crisis Line.  He also served in the National Guard.

Mr. Kneir enjoyed  truck patching, farming, playing with grandkids and playing dominos. 

On November 5, 1953 he married Gloria I. (Bruce) Kneir, in Poplar Bluff.  She preceded him in death on August 18, 2005.

He is survived by four children, Sheryl Cundiff and husband, E., of St. Charles, Mo., Charles Michael Kneir and wife, Cheryl, David Kneir and wife, Lori, and Kevin Kneir all of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Naomi Scheps;  3 brothers; Elvin “Sonny” Kneir and wife, Mary, Vernon Kneir and wife, Peggy and Chester Kneir and wife, Shirley; 12 grandchildren, Justin Kneir and fiance’, Whitney, Derek Kneir and wife Dortha, Amber Franklin and husband, Kevin, Krystal Kneir, Blake Kneir and fiance’, Crissy, Charlie Kneir and wife, Destiny, David Andrew Kneir, Lucretia Halfacre and Zachary Brake, Amber Burgett, Shayne Burgett and Lehanne Burgett; 8 great- grandchildren, Madigan and Cruz Franklin, Jaciee, Parker, Bo Wade Kneir, Anna, and Jacob Kneir and Noah Sansoucie.

Also preceding him in death include his parents, Samuel and Minnie (Hawks) Kneir, a daughter-in-law, Christy Kneir;  infant brother,Verlin Kneir and brother-in-law, Charles Scheps.

Visitation will be  held Sunday January 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m., at Grace ChristianFellowship Church, 3200 Warrior Lane, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral service at 1 p.m.  Monday, January 14, 2013, at Grace Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating, assisted by his former pastors,  Rev. Rowdy Boyer and Rev. Boyd Wicker.   Burial in Memorial Gardens.

Vada Sue Epley

Vada Sue Epley, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away January 5, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Epley was born November 17, 1932 at Neelyville, Mo., to the late Eugene Gimlin and Ora (Pulliam) Gimlin.  She had been a Butler County resident since 2004, but was formerly of Hannibal, Mo.  She loved to read, play Bingo and her dogs, and dearly loved her great-nephew, Chase.

On February 9, 1965, she married Lloyd C. Epley at Alton, Mo.  He preceded her in death  in December 2000.  She is also preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother. 

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

 Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Hannibal, Mo. with Ron Fowler officiating.
