Bethel Lee Tyler

Bethel Lee Tyler, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.,passed away March 26, 2013 in the Westwood Hills Healthcare. She was born June 25, 1926 in Caraway, Arkansas to the late Roy Lee Wolverton and Iva White Wolverton.

She was married to James Harvey French. he preceded her in death on Febraury 18, 1984. Then later married Melvin Tyler. He also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children,James E. French of Hazelwood, Mo., Barbara Ellen Jones of Harviell, Mo., Harvey French of Harviell, Mo.. Three sisters, Martha West of Harviell, Mo., Wanda Farles of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Mary Miller of Bridgeway, Colorado., Three brothers, Melvis Wolverton of Sahvarita, Arizona, RoyWolverton of St. Peters, Mo., and Willie Wolverton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Russell Leon French and one grandson, Gene Jones and one brother, J.A. Wolverton.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening,  canning and her grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion at Doniphan, Missouri.

Visitation will be Thursday March 28, 2013 starting at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Wes Flaugh officiating

Drucilla Isom

Drucilla Isom, 86, of Harviell, Mo. passed away March 25, 2013 at her residence in Neelyville, Mo.. she was born March 7, 1927 at Jiles County, Tennessee to the late James Crumley and Lizzie Barnickle Crumley,

On October 28, 1944 at Piggott, Arkansas She was married to Alvin Isom. He survives.

She is also survived by her children, Wayne Isom and wife Darlene of Neelyville, Mo., One daughter-in-law Iva Isom of Neelyville, Mo., Shelia Helzer and husband Carter of Jefferson City, Mo., Patricia Frazier and husband Larry of Parker, Colorado, Sherry Bell and husband Mitch of Springfield, Mo., and Lisa Staffhorst and husband Will of Franktown, Colorado. One nephew; Larry Isom. One sister Betty Gilbert of Naylor, Mo. and one brother James “Ed” Crumley of Naylor, Mo.. She also has 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as one son James Franklin (Franko) Isom on September 5, 1996 and one daughter, Regina Fay Isom on December 4, 1960. one grandson, Brad Frazier and one great grandson Michael Shane Isom. Two sisters Genevia Garner and Thelma Teel.

Drucilla was a member of the Naylor Pentecostal Church. She was faithful to her God and the church. A homemaker, She enjoyed gardening, flowers, her family and her church.

Visitation for Mrs. Isom will be Friday March 29, 2013  starting at 6:00 p.m. with the funeral Saturday March 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Mo.. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Fowler and Rev. Pete Taylor officiating.

Allan Kovach

Allan L. Kovach, age 66, formerly of Neelyville, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mr. Kovach was born January 26, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to the late Frank and Loretta (Kleinsorge) Kovach.  He was a truck dispatcher and enjoyed bluegrass music and watching westerns.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one son, Allan Kovach Jr.; a sister, Janice Crook; and two brothers, Mickey Kovach and Phillip Kleinsorge.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Everett Hornbeck

Everett Roy Hornbeck, age  90, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Eugene Towbin Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

 Mr. Hornbeck joined the Army in 1940, became a paratrooper, and jumped into Sicily several hours before the invasion to lay ground work.  He was taken prisoner on July 12, 1943 and was liberated on April 12, 1945. After leaving the Army, he was a successful general contractor in St. Louis, Missouri for many years.  He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 60 years.  Upon retirement, he moved back to Poplar Bluff, Missouri and later to Cabot, Arkansas.  He loved his family and his church.  He was an avid golfer and gardener.  He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Mr. Hornbeck was born February 14, 1923, to the late Ransom and Myrtle Hornbeck.  On July 11, 1945, he married Lea (Pete) Hays in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  She survives.  Other survivors include his son, Denny Hornbeck and wife, Nancy of Defiance, Missouri, and a daughter, Kolynn Ezell and husband, Wayne (Stormy) of Cabot, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, Melanie Shipley and husband, Mike, Michele Dunn and husband Tony, Michael Hornbeck and wife, Jamie, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Lt. Cmdr. Thomas Gill and wife Rose of Dunedin, Florida, and Nicholas Frost and wife Megan of Austin, Arkansas; 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donny Hornbeck and wife, Betty of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Ralph Hornbeck of St. Louis, Missouri. He is preceded in death by ten siblings.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 12 (noon), at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, Mo. , followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the chapel, with Ron Fowler officiating.  Burial with military honors in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Mary Mae Johnson

Mary Mae Johnson. 83, passed away March 16, 2013 in the Current River Nursing Center at Doniphan, Missouri. She was born August 17, 1929 at Ponder, Missouri to the late Weid Leslie Urich and Elsie Taylor Urich.

In 1943 she was married to Odell Johnson at Corning, Arkansas. He survivies.

Also surviving her children, Freddie Johnson and wife Linda Kay of Fairdealing, Mo., Lester Johnson and wife Michele of Fairdealing, Mo., Kay Diller and husband Cliff of Darden, Tennessee, David Johnson and wife Kay of Doniphan, Mo., Carl Johnson and wife Robin of Fairdealing, Mo., Linda Jefferson and husband Tom of Doniphan, Mo., Ruth Ann Dixon and husband James of Casper, Wyo.. Two sisters also survive, Wilma Gregg of Oklahoma and Euleta McCarty of Bentonville, Ark. one brother Bennie Urich of Fairdealing. 23 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one son, Eddie Allen Johnson, Her parents as well as one sister, Verneal Huling and Two brothers, Leslie and Carter Urich.

She was a member of the West Point Point Pentecostal Church of Doniphan, Mo. and had worked as a  nurses aid at the nursing center in Corning, Arkansas. She enjoyed Visiting nursing homes, singing and playing her guitar, yard sales, fishing,  and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 19, 2013 starting at 1:00 p.m. in the West Point Pentecostal Church in Doniphan, Mo. with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the church. burial will be in the Gum Cemetery with REv Charles Carr officiating assisted by Rev. James Dixon.

Delores Arbuckle

Delores Lee Arbuckle, age 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away at her home on Monday, March 11, 2013.  She was born February 5, 1941 in Champaign, Ill., and had resided in Poplar Bluff for the last 28 years.

On October 10, 1970, she married LeRoy Arbuckle.  He preceded her in death on October 29, 2011. She was a nurse and enjoyed sewing. 

She is survived by five children, Wilma Palmer, James Potter, Roger Potter, Michael Arbuckle and Shannon Arbuckle; a sister, Janie Abbot; and brothers, Donny Matthews and Tony Matthews; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Her parents Carl and Lois (Jones) Mathews also precede her in death.  

Visitation will be held at noon, Monday, March 18, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jerry Lemons officiating. Burial in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Mo.

Arthur Leroy Ward Sr.

Arthur Leroy Ward Sr., age 75,  of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at his home. 

Mr. Ward was born September 24, 1937, to the late Roy and Valerie Ward, and had lived most of his life in Butler County.  He served in the United States Air Force and had worked as a truck driver.

He was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and working on lawn mowers. 

He was married to  Barbara Ward,  who survives.

Other survivors include one son, Arthur Ward Jr.; and  two granddaughters, Jessica Ward and Kara Doggett.

One brother, Ralph Paul Ward, also precede him in death.  

A memorial visitation will be held at 11 a.m.  Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. followed by funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel.

Roger Dale Fleener

Roger Dale “Buddy” Fleener, age 53, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away March 11, 2013, at his residence.  

Mr. Fleener was born February 12, 1960 in Little Rock, Ark. to parents, Charles and Faye (Hill) Fleener.  He was a construction worker and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was of the Baptist faith. 

He is survived by his mother, Faye Boatner, of Poplar Bluff; one son, Nathan Amos of Elwood, Ind.; a sister, Linda D. Miller of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Jerry Fleener, of Poplar Bluff, John T. Fleener of McCalaster, Oklahoma, Terry Boatner of Moore, Oklahoma. 

Preceding him in death include his father, Charles Fleener; grandparents, Dewey and Essie Hill; sister-in-law, Rhonda Fleener and brother-in-law, Ray Miller.

A visitation will be held from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Richard Smith Jr.

Richard Smith Jr., age 56, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday March 4, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Smith was born December 10, 1956, in Deols, France, to the late Richard Smith Sr. and Patsy(Jones) Smith.  He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and watching Cardinal baseball. 

He is survived by a daughter, Lynette Smith; grandchild, Presley Smith and one sister, JoAnn Johnson and husband, Joe of Wappapello, Mo. 

One brother, Harvey Smith, also preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday March 8, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, with Ron Fowler officiating.

David Vannoy

David Ray Vannoy,age 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home. 

Mr. Vannoy was born June 25, 1940 in Hiram, Mo.  to the late David Clem and Erma (Costephens) Vannoy.   He had formerly lived in Wayne County.  He retired from ABF Trucking and raised cattle, loved horses and fishing.  He was of the Baptist faith.  

On March 23, 2002 he married Carolyn Vannoy at Hiram, Mo.  She survives. 

 Also surviving are his children, Linda Vannoy and husband, Leo Cruz and Ray Vannoy and wife, Teresa;  his sisters, Margie Allen, Mary Gains, Marie Yount, JoAnn Morphew, and Sandra Kay Anderson; one brother, Harold “Rover” Vannoy; granddaughter, Brittany Vannoy; step-grandchildren, Emily, Maeghan and Tristan Taylor and his mother-in-law Gladys Clifton. 

Also preceding him in death include one sister, Wilma Lou Vannoy; four brothers, Wayne Vannoy, Jimmy Vannoy, Robert Vannoy and Otto Vannoy.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, follow by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with the Rev. Larry Jordan officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ar.
