Brandi Ellis Chapman

Brandi Marie Ellis Chapman, 32, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Savior on  Thursday, August 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Chapman was born June 30, 1981 in Poplar Bluff.  She worked at Nordyne in air conditioner production. She loved to go to the river, visiting on Facebook, working with residents in nursing homes and loved her church, Twin Springs Baptist Church. Brandi fought her illness with bravery and true honor.  

On October 27, 2008 she was united in marriage to Larry Chapman.  He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Shelbie, Kyra and Larridy Chapman; her parents, Bobby and Jamie (Anthony) Ellis; grandparents, Robert and Mary Ellis, and Jennifer Anthony; great-grandmother, Jessie Anthony; her brother, Jeremy Ellis; brother-in-law Billy Hastings and wife, Kim, her aunts Jeanie Drane and husband, Johny and Linda Wyatt; uncle, Terry Ellis, her father and mother in-law, Bill and Jackie Schiffbauer.   A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Iris Russell and Charles Anthony; and aunt, Debbie Robinson. 

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in the chapel with Bro. Alan Leutert and Bro. Shelvie Stephens officiating.  Burial in Ash Hill Cemetery.

Merlin Dobbs

Merlin Ervin Dobbs, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Dobbs was born November 14, 1937,  in Poplar Bluff to the late Harry and Clara (Federstone) Dobbs.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff and was a bridge carpenter.  He enjoyed his church, his Sunday School class and was a bus driver for the church.  He coached little league, girls’ softball and was a member of the Carpenter Local 1049 and 1770.  He also delivered medicine to local nursing and care homes for Latasy Drugs.

On June 16, 1956, he married Virginia (Hale) Dobbs in Hernando, Ms.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Rickey Dobbs, Vickey Hodge, Pam Wallace, James Dobbs, Tricia Dobbs and Rachael Johnson; two sisters, Joyce Pierce and Shirley Brown; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren and two on the way.

Also preceding him in death include his son, Ronnie Dobbs, a sister, Marianne Cole and brother, Clyde Dobbs Sr.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Funeral services are scheduled for11 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Richard Triplett officiating.  Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

Nancy Carlton

Nancy Carlton, 73, formerly of Naylor, Missouri, passed away August 21, 2013.  She was born October 2, 1939.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlton; children, Edward James Carlton, Anthony Lewis Carlton,Debra Louis Carlton and Vicki Lynn Carlton, great grandchildren, Rae-Leigh Elizabeth Hoke and Konner Gage Carlton

She leaves behind three sons, Robert Earl Carlton and his wife, Tracy, James Edward Carlton  and his wife, Shauna, and Vincent Edward Carlton; 3 daughters, Linda Marie Ellsworth and her husband, Rick, Cathy Nichols and Betsy Watson; 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Elders; neices, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. 

Visitation for Mrs Carlton will be Wednsday, August 28, 2013 starting at 10:00 am with the funeral at 11:00 am. Burial in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

Mary Ann Sheppard

Mary Ann Sheppard, 82,of Doniphan, Missouri, and formely of Fairdealing, Missouri, passed away August 24, 2013. She was born December 12, 1930 in Neelyville, Missouri to the late William Guthrie and Ruby Lavern McCollum Guthrie.

She was a member of the Naylor Pentecostal Church, where She had served as assistant Secretary and had taught Sunday School class.She enjoyed Quilting, Embroiding and Gardening.

She was married to Lora “Toots” Sheppard. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1998.

She is survivied by, her children:Rev. Harold Sheppard and wife Connie of Doniphan, Missouri, Rev. Bruce Sheppard and wife Jeanette of Fairdealing, Missouri and Peggy Orr and husband Dan of Twin Falls, Idaho. Five brothers, Robert Guthrie, William Guthrie Jr., Paul Richard Guthrie, David Guthrie, Johnny Guthrie. Her grandchildren, Nevin and Nick , Jarred  David and Jenifer, and her  great grandchild, Carter and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister Letta Fay Guthrie and three brothers, Freddie Leon, Jerry Ray and Lester Guthrie.

Visitation for Mrs. Sheppard will be Wedsneday August 28, 2013 in the Naylor Pentecostal Church starting at 6:00 p.m. with the funeral Thursday August 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Naylor Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Fairdealing Cemetery, with Rev Donnie Fowler officiating.  Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri is in charge of arrangments.

Charles David Sinsabaugh

Charles David Sinsabaugh, 73, of  Naylor, Missouri, passed away at his residence August 22, 2013. On March 14, 1940 at Poplar bluff, Missouri he was born to the late Paul Sinsabaugh and Glendora Livingston Sinsabaugh.

David had retired from the United States Marine Corp as Lance Corpal gunner, and was a member of the American Legion of Naylor, Missouri. He enjoyed Golf and playing Pool.

He is survived by one sister, Rebbaca Fatino of Des Moines, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Corinne Miloni.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 pm TuesdayAugust 27, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri with a memorial visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. August 27, 2013.

Harold Greenwall

Harold Greenwall, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Greenwall was born May 18, 1936 to the late Frank M. and Cora Mae (Smith) Greenwall at Williamsville, Mo.  He enjoyed fishing and worked in a factory making pre-hung doors and windows. 

On November 7, 1959 he married Daisy C. (Robertson) Greenwall.  She survives. 

Other survivors include his children, Marion Franklin Greenwall, Tammy Charlene Erickson, both of Poplar Bluff, and Raymond Todd Greenwall of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Shirley Robertson and brother, Paul Greenwall; grandchildren, Kenneth Greenwall, Stephanie Parkison, Patricia Parkison, Christopher Lenton, Michael Greenwall and Cord Greenwall; great-grandchildren, Courtney Brown, Cora Brown, Jade Prater and Sky Prater, Bella Greenwall and Jaxon Hendrix-Greenwall.

Mr.Greenwall is also preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Faye Greenwall and son,  Harold E. Greenwall; sisters, Nadine Luke and Maxine Greenwall; brothers  George, Don, and James Greenwall.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  The funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m.  Monday, August 26, 2013 in the chapel with Ron Fowler officiating.  Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery.

Charles Eugene Whittenburg

Charles “Butch” Eugene Whittenburg, 66, of Caruthersville, Mo., passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mr. Whittenburg was born February 20, 1947 to Charlie and Ona Mae (Spangler) Whittenburg, at Poplar Bluff.  A self-employed construction contractor, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching television.

On September 30, 1984 he married Fay E. (Dinkins) Whittenburg at Peach Orchard. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Charles James Whittenburg, Jenifer Dawn Neal, and step-daughter, Pennie Moore; his mother, Ona Mae Whittenburg; 2 sisters, Patsy Harlan and Deborah Hicks, as well as 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Ona Marie Whittenburg.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, followed by funeral services at 12 noon at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating.  Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Loyd Edward Allen Dollins

Loyd Edward Allen “Brother” Dollins, 82, of Neelyville passed away Tuesday August 20, 2013, at His residence. He was born June 2, 1931 in Neelyville, Missouri to the late Sylvester “Ted” Dollins and Ruby Irene Crow Dollins.

Loyd was a member of Coon Island Genral Baptise Church and was a farmer and worked in a sawmill. He served on the Hvam Cemetery Board and dug graves over the years. He enjoyed visiting friends and family.

On June 17, 1950, he married Martha Agnes Hancock in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2004.

Survivors include, three sons, Lonnie Dollins and wife, Shelia, of Cleveland, Texas, Michael Dollins and wife Regina, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Eugene Dollins, and wife Cindy of Neelyville; three daughters, Lila Miller and husband, George of Huffman, Texas, Lela Dollins of Neelyville,  Missouri and Lisa Barriner of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; four sisters, Mildred Mize of Doniphan, Mo. Linda Layton of Naylor, Mo. and Patsy Knowlton and Teresa Cassinger both of Neelyville, Mo. three brothers, Charles Dollins and Jerry Dollins, both of Neelyville, Mo.,  and Doyle “Buck” Dollins of Pollard, Arkansas; 15, grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Loyd was preceded in death by two daughters, Janey Irene Dollins and Sandra Regina Dollins and two sisters, Deloris “Sissy” Dollins and Margine Winder; two brothers Delmar Dollins and Leo Dollins and his parents.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday August 23, 2012 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel on Neelville, Mo.. The funeral will be Saturday August 24, 2013 starting at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville. Burial will be in the Hvam Cemetery in Neelyville with Rev. Allen Leuter officiating.

Virginia Medling

Virginia Medling, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at her home.  Mrs. Medling was born July 9, 1922 in Butler County to the late Charley and Erma (Helvey) Dunlap.  A resident of Poplar Bluff, she lived in St. Louis for 40 years before returning to Butler County. 

On July 17, 1944 she married James Arthur Medling in Poplar Bluff.  He preceded her in death February 10, 2012.

She was a member of Living Word Baptist Church and was very active in Eastern Star, and past Worthy Matron in Florissant, Mo., Chapter 161 and Poplar Bluff Chapter 344.  She was also a  grand officer in 1995. She volunteered as a teacher’s aid at Pilgrim’s Rest Christian School. A 1940 graduate of Naylor High School, she worked as a stenographer at the army base in Malden, during World War II.  She and her daughter, Peggy, were active in Girl Scouts in the 1950’s and 60’s. 

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Krash; a sister, Dessie Mirtz; a grandson, Paul Krash; a great-granddaughter, Tori Krash; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death include a brother Homer Dunlap and ten sisters, Opal Redford, Verneal McGruder, Virgie Arnold, Marjorie Redford, Ruth Davis, Wilma Lawless, Angie Lawless, Lillian Allen, Essie Dunlap and Bessie Dunlap and son-in-law, Ronald D. Krash.

Visitation will held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating.  Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery.

Roger D. Robinson

Roger D. Robinson, 70, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away from this life suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.  He was born on October 14, 1942 to G.L. and Hazel Robinson of Oil Trough, Ar.  Roger was a rugged athlete, playing football for the Poplar Bluff Mules before attending School of the Ozarks. 

On January 11, 1963, he married Melvaline Leach of Success, Ar.  They had three children, Diane (Paul) Porter of St. Charles, Mo., Gary (Jana) Robinson and Carol Cook of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  He had five grandchildren, Zach Robinson, Jordan Baker, Savana Robinson, Jacob Porter and Molly Cook; as well as two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Grubbs and Cash Baker. Mr. Robinson is also survived by two brothers, Gerry (Sandy) Robinson of Poplar Bluff and Billy Joe Robinson and one sister, Mary Robinson, both of Sands Springs, Ok.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Potts of Skiatook, Ok.

Roger was a master electrician, certified in earthquake preparedness, charter member of the Wappapello Bass Masters and past chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee for the city of Poplar Bluff.  He was employed for 18 years by the City Light and Water department, working as a journeyman lineman.  He then worked for Doctors Hospital and after the merger, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center a combined 28 years. In these positions, he supervised many departments at various times including, laundry, security, building and grounds maintenance and special construction projects.  He retired in 2003.

Roger was always active and his greatest passion beyond family was bass fishing.  He was well known as a sportsman and won numerous tournaments.  He also enjoyed coaching youth, especially baseball and soccer.  He loved God and worshipped at the Green Forest Church of Christ. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.  Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Greg Carman officiating.
