Tim D. Hovis

Tim D. Hovis, 70, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away September 1, 2013 at  his residence. He was born August 10, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Gravill Hovis and Mary Benton Hovis.

Tim was a member of the Pilgrams Rest Church of Fairdealing, Missouri, where he had worked with the bus ministry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

On April 13, 1968 at Doniphan, Missouri, He was married to Barbara Wilder. She survives.

Also surviving his children; Gayla Secrest and husband David of Reyno, Arkansas and Bentley Hovis of Little Rock, Arkansas.Two Sisters, Polly Dill of Batesville, Arkansas and Frieda Nidaver of Davis Juction, Illinois. Two brothers, Tom Hovis and Mike Hovis both of Corning, Arkansas. As well as several nieces and nephews. and Great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one sister; Maxine Goodman and one brother; Gary Hovis.

Tim will be missed by his family as well as many friends.

Visitation for Tim will be Tuesday September 3, 2013 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel of Neelyville, Missouri starting at 5:00 p.m. with the funeral Wednesday September 4, 2013 in the Pilgrams Rest Church at Fairdealing, Missouri starting at 2:30 pm.  Burial will be in the Pilgrams Rest Cemetery with Rev. Marvins Richards officiating.

Thurman Baucom

Thurman Deloy Baucom, 71, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Baucom was born February 9, 1942, in Poplar Bluff, to the late George Wesley and Virgie (Tuttle) Baucom.  A farmer, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, sale barns and visiting. 

Survivors include his life-time partner, Nadine Baucom; one son, Cecil Deloy Baucom; one sister, Emma Sue Bridgeman; four brothers, Jimmy Ray Baucom, Chester Emmit Baucom, Alvie Loran Baucom and Arthur Raymond Baucom; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death include two sisters, Mary Estelee Yingling and Margie Lou Baucom.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff,  followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. in the Qulin Cemetery.

Cora Russell

Cora Lee Russell, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Westwood Hills Health Care.

Mrs. Russell was born May 17, 1925 in Geneseo, Kansas, to the late Nicholas and Beulah (Nicholson) Campbell. A homemaker, she enjoyed being around people and crossword puzzles.  She attended Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown, Mo.

She was married to Hadley A. Russell in 1952 and he preceded her in death July 30, 1992. 

Mrs. Russell is survived by three sons, Roger Russell , Roy Cash and Larry Cash; two sisters, Virginia Ward and Cleo Crofford; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Also preceding her in death include a brother, Ralph Campbell and several half-brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 2p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at  Kerns Chapel Church, in Stringtown, Mo.   Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo. in charge of arrangements.
